“Oh thank god,” he responded in kind immediately, his breath of relief so loud it was almost comical. The way his voice seemed to crack a bit less so. He must have hurt himself trying to fight his bounds; you had no doubt he’d tear a muscle trying, hearing the gunshots. Rushing to your rescue, like the proper hero he was. “What-“

“Thighs. Both,” you reported dutifully, hearing his sharp intake of breath and a curse on his lips – one you echoed with your own, forcing your eyes to stay open as you tried to tell yourself that the pain was fading and it was time to stop being a baby, to act like an agent, to focus on survival, yours and Steve, on your Captain’s survival, the vital member of the Avengers. You just needed to press against the- “Holy fuck that hurts-”

“Spectre. I know it hurts, but put pressure on that. Right now,” Steve barked, and it was like a switch had been flipped. Mission alert, goal-oriented – the Captain indeed. Too bad; maybe you had liked the Steve better. Then again, maybe a Captain was what you needed to get your head straight. The gala, whatever pretence it involved, was long over; this was a mission. You were an agent. “That’s an order, you understand?”

“Yeah, I’m trying.”

“Try harder!”

Your head snapped back with a frustrated growl, a flare of anger lighting your body up – you really, really wanted to snap at him to try it himself, to fucking try to at least imagine what it was like to be in your skin now; but he actually had been there before. He had probably fought of pain like this more than once, and he had done so as if it was but a minor inconvenience. He knew exactly what it was like. Andhe must have known that you realized that and that you couldn’t throw it back to his face and he was truly getting on your nerves.

“Always so damn--- bossy,” you hissed, but obeyed, dark spots dancing in front of your eyes as you did so.

“Sorry.” What? “Talk to me. Tell me what to do. How can I make it better?”

The switch had flipped again; his tone urgent, but less commanding indeed. And yet, what was more interesting was his words. He was chained and without his strength which you had stolen – he couldn’t do a single thing. His offer, however sweet, made no damn sense.

Not that all the things he had ever done did make sense; it was often the opposite, but you supposed you were one to talk.

A chuckle escaped you, bitter but no less amused at the situation. After all, what he said might have just been the funniest thing ever. You couldn’t afford to cry anymore and break down – so you fought to take one of the opposite routes. As usual. Grasping at whatever straw you were offered, even if it was a suggestion as tempting as hilarious.

“Me tell you what to do? Well, damn, that’s a first,” you chuckled again, realizing that the pain had changed; the pulsing seemed to slow. Cold sweat of horror covered your back, but you refused. You refused to even consider that might be a bad thing. It would be with this kind of injury in an ordinary human, but this could have just been some protective reaction of the serum. It had to be. “Is that my Make-A-Wish foundation gift?”

“Shut up. Don’t you dare to even-- don’t.”

The temperature in the room dropped at least twenty degrees with how frost-covered Steve’s words were despite their white-hot edge and even as you scoffed, you felt guilt gnaw at your gut.

He was right; the last thing either of you needed was your attitude. Then again, his own wasn’t exactly stellar, so at least it was fair.

“Talk to me. Shut up. Make up your damn mind, Rogers,” you spitted out, rolling over.

𓃔 Cow Of The Day MERRY CHRISTMAS 𓃔

Hi everyone. I know it's disappointing that I've tagged you and there's no story attached to this post. But in a way there is....

Once upon a time there was a young woman, so young you might just call her a girl. She had left a bad friend group and then her father died. Her life felt it had no meaning. After two whole years of misery, being naive and taken advantaged by roommates, family members and other awful people, she had enough... And went to the movies...it was huge!

A sequel to a movie from twelve years ago. Avatar: The Way of Water

She recalled how there was a way to change things or make characters fall in love with you...writing fanfiction. She logged onto her Tumblr and began typing...

And that fanfiction gained attention from a lot of people very quickly. She was stunned by the amount of likes, reblogs, comments and private messages.

And then it went further...

She chose to write and vent her feelings and decided it didn't feel like it was healing her, only making her more furious. She decided to test how it would feel to imagine a rewrite the things she wished would happen in her life to take the sting of reality and her trauma away. It helped her confront her feelings through words in the mouths of fictional characters. The nightmares lessened.

And that fanfic took off too...it was dark, it was perverse and people really enjoyed the angst of it.

I'm here to say thankyou all to all who have stuck loyally with me and read my fics. Thankyou to those who have followed this account after I was shadowbanned and thankyou to those who are reading this.

I hope nothing but the best for you all. Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, Merry Yuletide, Happy Kwanza and all those who gets to share this special day across the globe.

Steve Rogers age gap fics (where Steve is older than Reader):

Attached by @anika-ann: I literally wouldn't recommend any other fic before this one. It's funny, smutty, and full-on fluffy. It's an AU about the story between student!Reader and substitute Professor!Rogers. It doesn't specify how many years are there between Reader and Steve, but it's implied multiple times in the story.

The White Queen by Echoinsanity: This is the most amazing fic I've read regarding a Hydra!Reader and Captain America!Steve. It's about 87k and the author is currently writing the second part to this series :3

“Bodecker and Tucker will stay at the mansion. I painted a target on their backs when I told Rachel that they are going to be your bodyguards for the time being.”

“Or on Lee’s belly,” you snicker. “He’s got a soft tummy.”

“Wait!” Ari lifts his head to look down at you. “Did you check Bodecker out? Do you like him? Did that man look at you too?”

“What? No. He just likes to eat sweets and we shared a bowl of ice cream, toffies, and chocolate once or twice. Lee is nice,” you smirk as Ari’s features darken. “Aw, my big bear is jealous.”

“I already share my girl with two other guys. I won’t share you with Bodecker too! I cross the line at three other guys,” he grumbles.

“Baby, I don’t want Lee to be one of my boyfriends,” you softly say. “I got my hands full with you alone. And then there are Ransom and Andy too.”

Ari moves his hand to your ass to slap it. “Bad kitten,” he grunts. “I’m not a handful, young lady!”

“You’re right,” you grin as you lift your head to look at Ari, “you’re two hands full and some, babe. But I like that you are big and hairy.”

“I’m not hairy,” he grumbles. His chest vibrates, with a deep rumble as he tries to defend his body hair.

“You are hairy, baby…”

“You said you love it. If not, I’ll shave it all off,” he furrows his brows. “Do you want me to shave it all off? I know Ransom is all trimmed and has not a hair out of place most of the time.”

“You’re beautiful the way you are, Ari. Don’t you dare to plug one hair, baby. This belongs to me,” you move your hand over his hairy chest. “All of it. Every single hair.”

Ari grins. He knows you get a little possessive over your men once in a while. And he’s glad you are more than possessive over him too. Even after he didn’t believe you and sided with Rachel at first.

“Never forget that you are mine too, baby. No one can take you away from me,” Ari whispers lowly. “Your big bear sank his teeth in your flesh and marked you forever.”

You giggle at the playfulness in his tone. “My ass or pussy.”

“All of you from head to toe belongs to me,” he hums to himself.

“I love you too, Ari.”

Ari smiles fondly when you slowly drift into sleep. It’s hard for him to share you with Ransom and Andy. But that’s a compromise he learned to live with. At least all of you together can keep you safe.

“Ran, baby,” you purr in Ransom’s ear. “I want to know everything you discussed during the meeting.”

“I thought Ari told you about our plan, kitten,” Ransom replies, watching you sit on his desk.

“He distracted me,” you sigh. “I’m afraid Ari wants to keep things from me again. Andy promised me that you won’t hide things from me.”

“I will tell you every detail,” Ransom pats his lap. “Come here, kitten. I need to make sure you are safe and sound before I tell you about our plans.”

“No tricks, Mr. Drysdale,” you point a finger at him. “If you try to seduce me, I’ll not give your dick attention for a month.”

He flashes you a dirty grin because he knows you could never resist his advances.

 “I wouldn’t dare to seduce you, Y/N. I’ll be good, and won’t touch you. Promised.”

You settle on Ransom’s lap and rest your head against his shoulder. He wears your favorite cream-colored sweater. “Hmm…you always smell so good.” You sigh and allow yourself to inhale his scent deeply.

“Who’s distracting who now, kitten?” he laughs. “Alright. I must warn you. You are sensitive and I don’t want you to get scared…”

You harrumph and say, “I’m not sensitive.”

“You’re a strong and fiery woman, I know that. But this meeting was not for the faint of heart.”

“Just tell me already, Ransom.”

“We decided that Ari is going to be the one to kill Rachel. It must be done to make a statement. Hansen needs to know that no one fucks with us,” Ransom casually says.

You swallow thickly. You don’t want to think about Ari killing someone.

You’re not naïve. Your men are no saints. They commit crimes every day. From the moment they wake until they go to sleep.

But hearing about one of them killing someone is hard to stomach. Even though you hate Rachel with every fiber of your being, you didn’t want to see her dead.

“Okay.”

“No backing down now, Y/N. It must be done,” Ransom tuts as he feels you tense. “He won’t get hurt. Ari won’t go alone, kitten.”

You nod against Ransom while fighting the tears well up in your eyes.

“We know where Hansen is hiding, and we got an insider in his organization keeping an eye on that bastard. One false move, and we will strike. This will be over soon. I know it’s hard for you to stay at home all the time.”

“When this is all over, we are going on vacation,” Andy walks inside the room, smiling softly at you. “Only you, Ari, Ransom, and me, darling.”

“Hmm…” you glance at Andy. “Where are we going to go, daddy?” you murmur. “Paris? Rome? Timbuktu?”

“We thought about a private island. Blue clear water, sunbathing, and sex on the beach,” Ari joins you at the office. “We can have drinks too, of course.”

You grin. “Uh-yeah. Sex on the beach sounds good to me. I can’t wait to go. Maybe we should just grab our shit and fly away.”

“We have to take care of Hansen first,” Andy sighs when you look at him with teary eyes. “We promise to be careful, darling.”

“I dare one of you to get hurt or get yourself killed. I’ll kick your ass…”

“Rough night?” you sit next to Lee on the kitchen counter. He’s feasting on some half-melted ice cream like his life depends on emptying the bowl. “Lee?”

“I’m stuck at this place for the time being,” he grumbles. “Rachel wants me and Lance dead. My girlfriend is mad at me because I can’t visit her, and I gained another pound.”

“She will wait for you, Lee,” you gently pat his back. “Hansen and Rachel will be taken care of. You can leave the mansion soon. And a woman likes a little extra cushion.”

“They do?” he dips his head to glance at you. “You sure?”

“More to love, Lee.”

“Baby girl, what are you—” Ari grunts as he finds you next to Lee. “There you are. What is going on here?”

“We share ice cream and tragic love stories. Do you want to join us, Ari?” you pat the chair next to you. “Come here. Live a little and eat ice cream.”

“Fine,” Ari sits next to you. If only to make sure Lee keeps his hands to himself...

Something about the feign casualness of Natasha sipping her own coffee as you were seated opposite to her began to rub you in the worst way possible – and that was when you realized.

“Is this an interrogation then?” you asked, heart pounding as you tried to sound at least a bit like you were joking. Because, certainly, this could not be an interrogation, could it? That would be absurd.

A brief smile that didn’t reach her eyes in the slightest passed over her lips, gaze intent on your face. Reading microexpressions, you realized, your blood running cold.

She couldn’t be serious.

“You tell me, Spectre. Maybe this is what you expected to come at one point or the other. Maybe you already knew that I was the one to take lead on this. Maybe it put you into a tight spot and you realized it was just a matter of time before I’d come and question you – and you knew, like you do now, that I always get the information I want,” she said calmly, a thin layer of ice coating her words as she continued to examine your expression, every minuscule move of your muscles.

You hoped that whatever she read in your body language, she liked. The wild pulsing of your carotid, as your fear spiked. Yes; you had witnessed enough to know that she could dissect a person without touching them, reaching for their darkest secrets and retrieving them with figuratively bloody hand as she ripped them out – she had known quite a few of your own already. And yet. You hoped that fear was all she could see, because the feeling that slammed into the most was hurt. She could have slapped you, hell she could have slushed the hot coffee to your face and you’d be less stunned.

Did she really think that? That you’d be capable of something like this?

You sat there frozen, hand resting limply by your cup, heart threatening to burst out of your chest. But hey – good news, right? At least they were investigating and they were very thorough about making sure Steve was safe.

Comfort had never felt so cold.

“Maybe you needed a heroic safe to maintain cover,” she continued, titling her head to side a fraction. “And conveniently, if you failed to step in in time, you’d have the person in charge of the internal investigation eliminated.”

The switched inside you flipped without any conscious effort – and perhaps even against in – the fear and hurt was consumed by anger and spite, the lump in your throat turning into a burn.

You didn’t seek gratitude from her, not really – you did indeed only do your job yesterday and that was it, no matter Rogers’ initial reaction that had made you feel not only useful but appreciated beyond what you deserved – but hostility and accusations were a touch a bit too far. Especially since hadn’t it been for you, she could have been shot at best and dead at worst.

“You’re welcome,” you said flatly, expression free of any emotion at all.

The anger inside you felt empty.

Sooo this reads like angst, but I promise at least a short trip to fluffville in the chapter too 💕
