DoS: Day 13 Jinchuriki

So my thought going into this was to make a sketch one might see along side the reports of the exams, kinda like a court room sketch, but you know... for ninja fights.

I kind of want to write on it like a magazine cover, like “The host of the Ichibi was seen offering assistance to Konohagakure’s secret seal master after their battle”. Or, “ Leaf Village seal master walks away not only unscathed from her confrontation with the Sunagakure jinchuriki, but also with the respect of the murderous Ichibi host.” Or perhaps the classic ‘Scandal’. I can’t make it look good but it’s funny to think of it like the ninja gossip rag.

(On a personal note, this is the first time I’ve ever done this kind of style so I’d love some feedback. Also in general I am still learning about digital media and would appreciate constructive criticism and advise so that I might improve)

In a ship far from the nearest life giving star, Bant Eerin dies. 

She dies far from the waters Mon Cala where she was born. She dies far from the soothing hum of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. She dies far from nearly everything which might give her comfort.

Nearly everything. Until she jettisons dearest Yoshino away to save her padawan’s life.

Bant Eerin dies far from the nearest life giving star, and in her Force sense–weakening and flickering as she does–the sunshine that is her closest bond stretches and drifts and fades.

(You will be an amazing jedi knight. I am proud of you.)

On a planet that burns under the heat of two suns, Obi-Wan Kenobi regrets.

The wind and the sand and the decades erode what little bravado he has left. There is no use for hubris in the desert. Honor has long ago been whittled down, and in the unending cycle of survival, nostalgia will only weigh him down.

But regrets are abundant, a consolation of sorts: a way to remember without falling prey to imaginary solutions, mirages of oases that never existed. They keep him, if not sharp, then vigilant at least, haunted by all of his mistakes.

Under a forest canopy shading the ground below, Yoshino Kinokawa waits.

She waits for back up and she fumes at having to wait for back up and burns at needing to wait for back up and constructs a few traps while waiting for back up because for all that jedi younglings are raised to be pacifists, she was a padawan at war and this is–annoyingly, depressingly–familiar.

She waits back up and waits for the sun to rise and waits for Ibiki’s signal, or lack thereof, because it’s been too long and she trusts him to complete his part of the mission but it’s war and she can’t lose him–

(I can’t lose anyone else.)

DoS day 23- Team

Sooo, this was the first thing I drew this month because I intended to use it for the Sunshine prompt, but changed my mind and decided I would use it for the team prompt instead.

So it is actually a weird mix of a lot of time and dedication and an extremely limited understanding of the tools or function of the app I use. Looking at the file is absolutely wild, as is it just a chaotic amalgamation of layers, colors and lines with no rhyme or reason.

It’s kinda nice to see how much I’ve learned and how far I’ve come.

DoS Challenge: Day two- Armed to the Teeth

I wish I lived a life where I could quote Dreaming of Sunshine by @dosbysilverqueen without sounding insane, because some of the quotes are magnificent!

Anyway Dreaming of Sunshine is a outstanding story and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone, and if you don’t want to sit down and read it that’s okay because there is an audio version too by the fantastic @jacksgreysays on Mixcloud and podcast.

(On a personal note, I am actually really happy with this finished work, but I know I have a lot more to learn about art especially digital media. So, constructive criticism and advice is welcomed. I use sketchbook on the I pad for my digital work, so if anyone has experience with it I would love to hear about how I can improve my work. Especially in regards to backgrounds, geez backgrounds are my weak point.)

DoSarrchallange: Day 3- Allies

“The handshake involved many more motions than just shaking hands, of course. For something that was undoubtedly made up on the spot, it was very intense and complicated.

"Seriously?" Kankurou muttered under his breath, folding his arms.

Temari elbowed him in the ribs. "Just do it," she hissed. She didn't look all that impressed, either, but Gaara was impassively following the directions. Even Neji was, actually, though that may have been an actual result of Lee repeatedly grabbing his hands and moving them.

And somehow we managed to get sixteen people around a table doing a fist bump at once. That was slightly impressive.

"There, now its official," Ino said, grinning brightly. Which might have been just a side effect of getting everyone to do such a silly thing. I wouldn't put it past her. It was just more proof that she didn't need her jutsu to make people do what she wanted.

"Thank you," Haku said solemnly. "We're honoured."

DoS: day 4- Hedge

This is a reference from Chapter 102 of Dreaming of Sunshine by @dosbysilverqueen, and it is one of the moments I really appreciate in the story.

To me it speaks of Shikako’s character. Her parinoa, her brilliance, her thoughtless innovation, and her underestimation of how she impacts people around her.

She doesn’t think twice about the idea that Lee has never used a transformation before and probably thought he never would be able to, she just found a way for him to transform.

When I was reading it I couldn’t help, but feel like that was an incredible moment both for the story and the personal perspective of Lee.

I would absolutely recommend this story to anyone and everyone it is phenomenal. There is also an audio version by @jacksgreysays on Mixcloud and podcast, and it is one of my favorite stories to listen to.

(On a personal note, I know this picture is not technically a hedge, and in the story the seal is written with blood on his hand; however, this is what I felt I should draw for today.

Also, I know I’m not a great artist especially concerning backgrounds so I accept and appreciate constructive criticism. The terrible background is also why I posted a version without a background. I hope you guys like it because, when all is said and done, I am happy with how it turned out. )

DoS art challenge: Day 11- Modern

Naruto rolled a Nat 1 and absolutely biffed it.

Wooo, I went overboard and was way too ambitious, but hey Naruto, DnD, and Dreaming of Sunshine what could really go wrong.

For this prompt I knew I wanted for the team to play a modern game, and debated video games and monopoly, and then I thought, you know what I really wish I was playing right now... DND, and thus this was created. It definitely needs work, but hey one day prompt.

This art is for the Dreaming of Sunshine fanfiction by @dosbysilverqueen, and while it has absolutely nothing to do with Dnd it is absolutely fantastic and is 100% worth reading.
