So this was actually technically a Christmas gift last year but my sibling kept forgetting it in New York and I kept forgetting to remind them until this week when I just happened to buy myself a new Zippo and finally get a butane insert for it, but this is a vintage (circa 1960s-1970s) Penguin Phantom-S gas lighter I had spotted in one of the local antique stores. Noticed it still had butane in it but no spark; pretty quickly stumbled on the fact that it uses an internal striker wheel and a flint and not a piezoelectric ignition so a donor flint from one of my Zippos (and a new spring follower for said flint from another cuz uh. The Penguin’s original was worn down to a millimeter thick nub) and I got it going.

I have discovered that at the max flame height butane does tend to flow through the adjustment knob on the side as well soooo sometimes it becomes a big flame and a regular flame at the same time.
