Scenes from a very queer match between Eddie Guerrero and the leather-pantsed Basham Brothers which I recently viewed on YouTube. It seems Eddie's partner, Chavo, was banned from the ring, so he had to fight the two Bashams (and their female manager) by himself. Double-Teaming is already rife with sexual innuendo, but it only gets more explicit and gayer from there.
We witness an S&M performance as the Bashams are whipped by their dominatrix. Then Doug Basham, perhaps turned on by that foreplay, thrusts his front side against Eddie's back side while executing a Pump Handle.
Tumblr media
The commentators can't help but call out the homoerotic imagery as they ponder why the Bashams are so obsessed with Eddie's crotch. More male-on-male whipping will occur before this one is finished.

Former WWE Star Serves As Guest Trainer At WWE Performance Center - PWMania
Former WWE Tag Team Champion Doug Basham was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this week, serving as a guest trainer, according to a new report from PWInsider.com. Basham, a standout from the Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) developmental system, made his mark in WWE during the early 2000s as one-half of The Basham Brothers alongside Danny Basham. The duo captured the WWE Tag Team…

It's crazy when you look at WWE's extensive history how much history repeats itself. And surprisingly, as niche of a subject as it is, the WWE has a history of screwing over developmental brands.
Before NXT, before FCW, before most developmental properties affiliated with WWE like EVOLVE, there was OVW. Ohio Valley Wrestling. OVW was by far the most successful developmental territory. Run by Jim Cornette out of Louisville, Kentucky, OVW was responsible for recruiting, training and polishing a LOT of WWE prospects such as John Cena, Batista, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton (the four of which were dubbed the OVW Four.)
Contrary to popular belief, WWE didn't own OVW. All they really did was have a working relationship where WWE had first pick of what talent they wanted to use and OVW would accomodate them if WWE ever wanted to send anyone down to OVW to do a few shows. Also WWE helped keep the lights on. WWE really accounted for 30% of their operating revenue. OVW ran weekly shows, and even ran venues like Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and had a syndicated local TV spot.
Initially, the working relationship between OVW and WWE was managed by Jim Ross and things ran smoothly. When JR started slowing down and not wanting to be as involved with the business for health reasons and moving back to Oklahoma, you know who they got to replace JR in that role? Well hot damn, it would be John Laurianitis. Who according to Cornette, was the BIGGEST GODDAMN PAIN IN THE DICK to work with (outside of Vince Russo, obviously). There are a multitude of stories concerning the awful working relationship between Johnny Ace and Corny, but I'll go with my favorite.
Jim Cornette is using Doug Basham as a top heel. He had a great look, he was an old-time worker, he blonde hair and leather pants and he was cocky. For a Top Heel, he was great. So he comes in to a TV taping one night and HE'S FUCKING BALD. HE LOOKS LIKE A 40 YEAR OLD TRUCK DRIVER. So Jim asks Doug "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO!?" and Doug says "Well, John Laurianitis called me to come to raw and creative wanted to see what I looked like bald." and Jim of course responds "WELL THEY COULDN'T JUST PRETEND?" so he calls John Laurianitis and it goes to his voice mail and Jim says "Hey, Johnny, it's Jim Cornette! My top heel just arrived at the television taping and he looks like a 40 year old truck driver. Would you please tell this alleged "Creative Team" that if they can't imagine what a guy looks like bald, give me two weeks, I'll book him in a hair match AND I'LL SELL SOME FUCKIN TICKETS. THANK YOU, FUCK YOU, BYE."
And it was constant. They'd call guys up without telling them, they'd send guys down to work despite the show being written and not having room to use them, they told them what brand of fuckin snapple to sell at the concessions stand. They even forced OVW to use WWF ropes which used real ropes and not cables like every other wrestling promotion in the world, so the ropes would snap because they would use them not just for taping but for training as well, and people would get hurt. To the point where Jim couldn't take it anymore, left OVW and OVW became defunct shortly thereafter because Johnny Ace couldn't leave well enough alone.
So if you're wondering how Triple H's vision of NXT was dismantled so quickly, just know that John Laurianitis has experience with this.

"He was a skinny, fat kid. He was lazy" – Randy Orton's former opponent on the WWE star's progression
Randy Orton did not have much interest in working for WWE when he joined the company in 2000, according to Doug Basham. Both men were part of the Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) developmental system in the early 2000s. The Bashams (Doug and Danny) defeated Orton and Rico Constantino at an OVW event on June 28, 2002, shortly after The Viper’s main roster debut. On a recent episode of Stories with…
