-Despite Wind Archer Cookie knowing about every animal's behaviour, he is so emotionally constipated that he doesn't even realize that Fire Spirit is basically courting him like a dragon would, even though he knows that Fire Spirit Cookie has dragon DNA

-The forest reacts to Wind Archer's emotions. While he may be acting like his usual "hard-to-read" self, whenever Fire Spirit Cookie is around, the flowers around Windy bloom <3

-Doves show affection to their mates by preening them. Wind Archer isn't that physically affectionate, but sometimes, when he gets tired, he'll start playing with Fire Spirit's hair or clothing

-Male doves will also help their mates build a nest and, for Wind Archer, this translates to making comfortable spots for Fire Spirit to rest when he visits the Millenial Forest

-I mentioned before how Fire Spirit gives Wind Archer things like gold and shiny things. Birds are also known to like shiny things, so Wind Archer decorated parts of the forest with them

...I now feel it is important to mention that we are not a system. I do not wish to encroach upon their territory, or fake being one of them. He's weaker than his mom though, so he can't transform into it often as it requires a lot of power

The scale is very rough and probably not completely accurate, but the idea is Sugar Swan is decently bigger than him and this is the only form he has where he's bigger than others lmfao

I can't draw creepy things as much as I try, but I think the fallen spirits look a little too goofy for my taste lmao

Obviously they can't be too spooky but Milk's fallen spirits look "creepier" than Wind's so I think it's possible

series summary (in game!au) when an exiled tommy finally rebels against a manipulative dream, he finds safety in neutral territory, a place owned and guarded by you. staying in your safe haven opens up the younger one’s eyes to your way of life, while also revealing your deeper past before neutral; a past that involved a war for your love.

chapter summary after teaching tommy how to make cookies, you surprise him with your archery skills as you fight off mobs swarming outside of your house. tommy comes to a conclusion that makes him slightly ashamed of himself; being neutral doesn’t make you weak.

it was storming the next night. after a nice dinner of meatloaf and mashed potatoes, y/n proposed that tommy help her make some dessert for them to enjoy.

“you sure i can’t mess this up?” tommy asked warily as she opened her small, self-written recipe book and placed it in front of them.

“im sure,” she assured, patting his cheek endearingly. he made a face. “your face is gonna freeze that way, kid.”

“whatever,” he scoffed, rolling his eyes as she laughed. “what are we making?”

“cookies!” she smiled. “one of the easiest things you can make.”

tommy sighed. though it was embarrassing to admit aloud, he couldn’t help but feel nervous about the experiment. “what do we need?”

“well...” after thirty minutes of patience from y/n, frustration from tommy, and unhelpful side commentary from ghostbur, the cookies were nearly ready to place in the furnace.

“how big should i make them?” tommy questioned, looking up at y/n from the baking sheet she had spread out for him.

she shrugged, placing her hand on the back of the chair ghostbur sat in. “however big you want. measure with your heart.”

“you also said that about the chocolate chips,” ghostbur commented. “now we’re all going to have cavities.” y/n whacked the boy on the back of the head, keeping her expression kind as she looked at tommy. 

“however you want them,” she assured. tommy nodded in return, turning back to the baking sheet just a loud banging came from the main entrance of the house. y/n peeked out of the kitchen. “oh, wow, that’s a lot of mobs..”

ghostbur leaned back to see. “goddamn!”

“tommy, you go ahead and portion and pop those into the oven,” y/n spoke, running a hand through her hair. “i have a feeling my door’s not gonna last much longer.” she rushed out of the room without another word.

“having fun yet?” ghostbur questioned as tommy began to portion out the blobs of cookie dough.

“kinda,” he shrugged. “y/n’s a good teacher.”

“she is,” ghostbur agreed.

“it’s also kind of nice to have a break from more chaotic things,” tommy continued as he worked. “you know, y/n surrounds herself with peace. she’s not a fighter like you were and i am. so, it’s nice to do as she does.” ghostbur chuckled and tommy looked up just as he finished portioning out the dough. “what?”

“whoever said y/n wasn’t a fighter?” ghostbur teased. just then, said girl came back into the kitchen with a bow in hand and a quiver full of arrows slung over her shoulder.

“cookies in yet?” she asked, eyes gleaming with excitement he hadn’t yet seen from her. her words were rushed out, and he stuttered to reply quickly.

“y-yeah, well, about to be,” he managed out. “what are you doing?”

y/n grinned at him as he lowered the tray of dough into the furnace. “someone’s gotta deal with the mobs out front.” before she disappeared, tommy called out to her.

“wait, y/n!” he called. “can i come with?”

“sure!” she laughed. “ghostbur, set a timer for fifteen, please!” tommy rushed to follow her as she practically raced up the stairs. ghostbur grinned after them.

“where are we going?” tommy huffed out as y/n led him down a hall he was yet to discover.

she slowed down, opening up a door that revealed the stormy night to him. “right out here.” tommy stepped out onto the small balcony. tarps covered the sides, preventing them from being pelted by the brunt of the rain and wind, but allowed them access to viewing the main entrance from the side.

“are you good with a bow, tommy?” y/n asked, still smiling as she delicately plucked an arrow from her quiver.

“uh- not really..,” the boy admitted, rubbing his neck sheepishly.

“that’s alright,” she smiled reassuringly as she lined up the arrow in her bow and pulled the string back. “i assume you’re better with a sword?”

“much better,” he nodded. she let out a hum before releasing the string from her fingertips, and tommy could barely keep up with the arrow that flew through the air and lodged itself in between a skeleton’s shoulder and collarbone, causing the mob to collapse into a pile of uselessness. tommy’s mouth suddenly felt dry as y/n loaded another arrow. 

he had never seen someone take down a skeleton in one shot, not even dream.

tommy watched as she closed one eye, aiming at three zombies lined up. she took a breath before tugging harshly at her string, then letting the arrow zoom through the storm and cleanly through the three’s heads. they all crumbled into a mass of rotten flesh.

“four mobs and two arrows?!” tommy managed as y/n reached for another. she looked over and laughed at the surprised boy. “how the hell did you do that?”

“i’ve always been good at aiming,” she spoke casually as she worked to load another arrow, aiming now at a spider working its way up her walls. she managed to lodge the arrow into its leg, effectively tearing it off of the creature and causing it to tumble onto the zombie below. they heard it hiss just before another arrow pinned through its heart and the zombie’s head, rendering both creatures silent. “not so much with close contact fighting.”

“i think this makes up for it,” tommy spoke distractedly, shaking his head with amazement as he watched her fingers move with instinct and practice. she launched another strong arrow into the hoard.

she laughed as she continued to work. “i fumble when im up close..” arrow after arrow whizzed from her bow. “from this distance, i can take my time. i can breathe, i can calculate.” mobs went down, pair after pair sinking to the cold, wet grass below. “and when we can do those things, our work only shows it.” she knocked down one last skeleton before she dropped her bow to her side. there were now only a few creepers and spiders mulling around.

“that was amazing,” tommy spoke after a moment of silence, looking at her with wide eyes. she gave him a smile. “i.. wow.”

she laughed just as ghostbur peeked his head out. “five minute warning.”

“thanks, ghostbur,” y/n nodded. “come on, kid. let’s towel off and eat some cookies.” tommy nodded, following her back into the house. he stayed behind with ghostbur as she went to grab towels.

“so?” ghostbur spoke with a knowing grin. “how was that?”

tommy shook his head, still processing the skill he had just experienced. “she’s the best archer i’ve ever seen! she didn’t miss a single target, she knew exactly where and when to aim, i-” he let out a sigh, running a hand through his hair. “i can’t believe i thought she couldn’t fight. of course she can fight.”

“neutral doesn’t mean weak,” ghostbur spoke wisely, placing a hand on tommy’s shoulder. the boy looked up at him with pursed lips, guilt weighing in his chest. “y/n is the strongest woman i know; she cooks, she welds, and she can work a bow like you’ve never seen. never expect anything with her, tommy. she’ll never stop surprising you.”

tommy nodded. “neutral doesn’t mean weak, eh?” ghostbur gave him a smile. “of course it doesn’t. it’s not like she chose this life.. there was a war.”

“right,” ghostbur confirmed. “it’s alright to be wrong sometimes, tommy. especially about someone you’ve known and lived with for what, a week?” he nodded. “see? you don’t have to know everything all the time.”

“okay,” tommy nodded, his voice quiet as ghostbur squeezed his shoulder reassuringly. “wow. it’s strange to be able to hold myself to a lower standard.”

“y/n is teaching you some amazing things about mental health, tommy.”

Side Story Chapter A: Four Guardians.

There were once four guardians of the forest.

Wind Archer, the main Protector.

Whipped Cream, Caretaker of Flowers.

Fig, Caretaker of Animals.

Herb, Caretaker of Plants.

Wind Archer knew of their past. They were once a regular cookie, beckoned by the forest to come, before meeting Sugar Swan and Millennial Tree. There, they were turned into a vessel for the wind, becoming Wind Archer Cookie.

Wind Archer knew, whatever happened in their past, they threw it all away, and they accepted their new place in the forest, defending the forest from the darkened spirits.

It was after a period of time, when Wind Archer arrived to find another cookie beckoned by the forest, wandering in the forest itself. Knowing what they were searching for, Wind Archer brought that cookie to Sugar Swan and Millennial Tree, to become Whipped Cream Cookie.

Then a third, to become Fig Cookie.

Then finally a fourth, to become Herb Cookie.

And that was how it was for a long time.

But then one day...

'What do you think is outside the forest?'

'Herb, you know there's nothing much outside of there.' Wind replied.

'But are you not curious?'

'I admittedly am, but my role is here, to protect the forest. Please just stay.' Wind answered.

'Okay then.'

Wind went back to work, but hearing how Herb said it, it really should not have been a surprise. But Wind was in denial themselves about Herb leaving the forest. And so Wind pretended everything was alright.

So when Herb disappeared, Wind felt numb. It was only a few days since Herb asked them about leaving the forest. And Wind blamed themselves for not convincing Herb to stay harder.

There were once three guardians in the forest.

Another passage of time passed, and this time Fig was the one who asked about what was outside a forest. This time Wind snapped.

'DO NOT ASK THAT QUESTION. JUST STAY.' Wind yelled.

Fig cowered a bit from that screaming before running away from Wind.

Wind tried to give chase, before losing Fig altogether.

Wind was not surprised when Fig did not return. After all, they were the one who chased Fig away with that outburst.

There were once two guardians in the forest.

Yet more time has passed. Then finally, Whipped asked Wind what was outside the forest.

Wind broke down, before hugging Whipped tightly.

'Please just stay in the forest. I can't lose you too, not after Herb, and Fig... Please just stay.'

Whipped hugged back, before muttering a simple 'I'm sorry.'

When the hug finally broke up, Wind watched as Whipped walked away, never to return again.

Once Wind couldn't see Whipped anymore, they crumpled to the ground, completely defeated, and started to cry. Their efforts were not good enough.

There was once a guardian in the forest.

Wind carefully fired their arrows at a fallen spirit, to purify them, watches as the fallen spirit turn into a dove and fly away. They dearly miss the others, but resolutely stayed to their own goal to protect the forest. After all, it was what they were good at, and what they were made for.

Wind Archer sat down on a branch, carefully looking towards the calm forest. They wondered if one day, there were no more spirits to purify, when they no longer have a reason to be around, would anybody ever ask them to stay.

As Wind Archer spread out their wings to continue their flight of their patrol, Wind Archer hoped that somebody would do so, instead of immediately letting them go.

Millenial Tree

Wind Archer Cookie believes that starting a relationship with Fire Spirit would distract him from his duties as an elemental, and as a Guardian of the Millenial Tree. But, Millenial Tree Cookie wouldn't mind it at all, as he just wants his wind to be happy.

Plz keep in mind that I'm finding out these headcanons along with you, so things are changing. Originally, i saod that Wind Archer didnt tell Millenial Tree about his crush, but I'm changing that. Millenial Tree Cookie is the only one that Wind Archer told about his crush (told is a strong word. You know confessing without confessing? It's like that. "I don't... but let's say i did. Millenial Tree said to do what he thinks is right, but he should also make room for his own happiness. Those words stuck a lot with Wind Archer.

Blue Slushy

"Ooh, Wind Archer Cookie, who are you making nests for? Can you tell me? Come on, you can tell me!" Blue Slushy Cookie is also a bird, so she recognizes all the courting behaviour that Wind Archer Cookie does. Idk much about their dynamic yet, so this is just from what I've witnessed of her personality.

She thinks his crush is adorable. She clocked in Wind Archer liked someone after she saw all the shiny things decorating his favorite parts of the forest and when she saw leftover 'nesrs' (just comfy spots around the forest filled with pillows and moss) Wind Archer made. At first, while she was curious who it was, she was more happy that Wind Archer was seeing someone. She suspected it was Fire Spirit Cookie after she found repeated burn marks on the nest. Just to make sure, she asked Wind Archer about it, and before he could answer, flowers bloomed around him, which gave him away. She jumped up and down with excitement while Wind Archer just hid his embarrassed blush under his scarf.

Cookiemals

They're kids, so I don't think the Cookiemals are too concerned with romance (unless they were like me who was completely obsessed with shipping when I was like, 9 years old). I think they'd gossip about it like elementary schoolers would, in that they talk about it as kids who haven't experienced romantic love, and see it more as a fun idea or game than the actual feelings. When they noticed how much Fire Spirit comes to the forest, they asked if that was Wind Archer's boyfriend, to which he stuttered and said, "no." They asked If Windy liked him, and he didn't give a response, so now they're like, "Oh my witches, he does!"

Windy doesn't mind the cookiemals being around Fire Spirit, and Fire Spirit doesn't mind them bcuz they're kind of part of Windy's family (family is important to dragons), but Windy always has that fear in the back of his mind that they're going to be like, "Oh, btw, did you know Wind Archer Cookie has a crush on you?" (I've done that before, btw, bcuz I was a little kid without a filter). Choco Lion would've, but Buttershell fox stopped it, saying smthn like, "No, you can't do that! From what I know about crushes, the person has to tell them themself!"

Pitaya Dragon

Listen, Fire Spirit is a cocky asshole. We all know this. And Pitaya Dragon has to deal with this, and Fire Spirit teasing them all the time.

And bcuz he's an over-confident cocky asshole, there isn't much teasing you can do that'll actually effect him. So, when finding out that Fire Spirit has a weakness? Something that would make him SWEAT when brought up? There is no way in the OVEN Pitaya Dragon would let that go. They are going to tease him for his crush to Hell and back! And they are going to revel in every SECOND of it.

Pitaya found out bcuz of Fire Spirit's Dragon behaviours (bringing shiny things whenever he visited the forest, continuously traveling there a lot despite it being a long journey, being really competitive with Wind Archer, etc), as they are full Dragon and can clock it in very easily.

It was confirmed to them one day when Pitaya decided to mess with Fire Spirit by talking about "how handsome Wind Archer is" and saying that if they were a puny Cookie, they'd go after him and for a split second, Fire Spirit thought they actually were going to go after Wind Archer, and in the split second, he burned the juice glass he was holding to a crisp. Pitaya was silent for a good 10 seconds before reality hit them, and they started (very loudly) laughing about how jealous Fire Spirit got while Fire Spirit tried to explain away his action. (Reptiles can be territorial when it comes to their mates so, for Fire Spirit, that would translate to easily getting jealous).

Snapdragon

They're a baby. What do you want them to do? They like Wind Archer because he plays with them, and they like coming with Fire Spirit to the Milleniam Forest bcuz it means they can play with Wind Archer (and the Cookiemals) more.

You're making me want to write a fanfiction about how each of these guys found out. Don't tempt me.

I always saw his bird courting traits as more on the down-low since he is shown to be quiet and very introverted. I'd say he does small stuff, Mike decorating the forest with the shiny things Fire Spirit for him (birds like shiny things) or making sure to make comfy areas for Fire Spirit (male birds helping their partner's make a nest) or just playing with his hair or clothing when he's feeling tired (preening)

Bird!Wind Archer Cookie Headcanons

-Wind Archer is more attuned with his bird traits than Fire Spirit is with his dragon traits, so he is aware of most of most of the things that will trigger his bird instincts. Still, he still tries to deny his way out of feeling anything for Fire Spirit

-Every once in a while, Fire Spirit will offer to preen his wings for Wind Archer if he is having trouble and, while preening wings isn't always romantic for birds, it's still incredibly intimate and is often done by bird mates, and is sometimes done as foreplay. Every time, Wind Archer is silently freaking the fuck out.

-Wind Archer often gives gifts like shiny things for food to Fire Spirit. Best part is that both dragons AND birds do this, so it's something that they both understand (except they're both stupid and try explainingto themselves how, "it doesn't mean anything"). Downside effect is them getting jealous when other cookies give them food. They can't really explain why their jealous, though, since it's difficult to explain, "It upsets me when anyone that isn't me or your family gives you food", so they both just kind of sit there like "🫠🫠🫠"

-Showing off. Wind Archer doesn't do those often since he's pretty quiet, but he'll occasionally show off to Fire Spirit

-Some male birds will build nests and take them to there to show their potential mates. Wind Archer builds nests for Fire Spirit often, so he's used to that aspect, but Fire Spirit comes to his nest sometimes to sleep. The first time Wind Archer did that, he was incredibly nervous and embarrassed, since that's his potential mate coming to his NEST, and if it's bad than everything goes down the drain (in his mind. Fire Spirit doesn't care if his nest is a bit messy). Luckily, Fire Spirit thought that Wind Archer sleeping in a nest was cute, and Wind Archer just said thanks, but internally, he was VERY relieved

-Sometimes, Wind Archer initiates preening by just playing with Fire Spirit's cape and sometimes hair (he can't play with it for too long without burning his finger)

-Birds will sing to attract mates. Wind Archer doesn't do it to Fire Spirit (can you IMAGINE him putting on a whole dance performance for Fire Spirit? Lol). I just see it as him inadvertently humming or whistling to himself when Fire Spirit is around

Wind Archer is my favorite Cookie Run character which is why I have so much to say about him lmao

Note that I state things like they're a fact but they're all headcanons

I just don't want to put "in my headcanon" on all of them because that would be repetitive and annoying lmfao

- I have a big project planned around my headcanon about Wind's past (and also Sea's, Moon's, and Fire's)

- He has failed to protect the forest a total of 2 times and I will not elaborate

- He loves all living things, but his favorites are birds and flowers (his favorite bird being doves and his favorite flower being lotus flowers)

- The flowers in his hair and antlers can be removed and also regrow

- He is the shortest, youngest, and least known Legendary

- As one does with their favorite character(s), I project too much onto Wind lmfao

- He speaks very softly which is why I always write his dialogue smaller than everyone else and add ellipses (...) to emphasize it

- He can shapeshift into animals, though he rarely uses this ability

- The gem on his forehead acts as his actual heart in a way; if the gem shatters, Wind dies

- Wind knows flower language and likes to associate others with specific flowers

- The flowers on his antlers are associated with his best friends (Sea Fairy, Moonlight, and Fire Spirit)

- He can choose what flowers grow in his hair and antlers

- His arrows are magic and therefore much stronger and sturdier than a normal arrow

- He is capable of close combat but it is his weakest fighting skill

- He specializes in ranged attacks (obviously), but if need be he can use his bow as a close ranged weapon and his arrows like spears

- His real name is actually "Windgrass" because he wasn't born knowing how to wield a bow; he just doesn't like others knowing his real name

- I changed the narrative about his parents a little because I didn't really like it before; Sugar Swan and Millennial Tree are best friends and Sugar Swan is the one who created Wind Archer but around the time he was born she disappears mysteriously and Millennial Tree steps in and adopts Wind as his own

- Wind is as light as a feather and can walk on water with little problems and uses this ability to visit Sea Fairy sometimes

- He has horrible pyrophobia and it took him a long time to get used to Fire Spirit

- As the youngest Legend, he gets babied a lot by the others and hates it; he tolerates it more from the Legends he's close to, but anyone else he's really salty about it

- He can be really sensitive and emotional but hides it very well (unless it involves harming the forest)

In my general hcs, I think Wind Archer’s personal favorite bird calls to mimic are the Mourning Dove, and Peregrine Falcon. I feel like in a truth or dare game, Fire Spirit dared him to mimic a Turkey vulture’s call. Wind Archer did it; but everyone had to cover their ears.

Wind has a reputation of being really quiet and soft spoken but he's fully capable of being loud

He just chooses not to most of the time

I like the idea of Sea, Moon, and Fire forgetting that sometimes and them getting real humbled

I personally headcanon that Wind sometimes makes various animal noises (though mostly birds) because he's lived in the forest his whole life and has been surrounded by animals more than Cookies and learned their sounds and stuff

So for example if he's really frustrated, he'll like screech or something and if one of the others are there they'll jump and stare at him lmfaooo
