Abbot is out for a smoke when he sees a familiar face roaming around

it’s one of Robby’s exes, well, he’s not an ex exactly, they didn’t really date, but it ended up badly, Jack knows the guy is a fucking asshole so when he gets close enough Jack tells him that if he’s there for Robby to not even think about it

the guy’s all like “who the fuck are you?” and when he sees Jack’s ID he’s like “oh so you’re the Jack Abbot I kept hearing about”

Jack shakes his head, stares the guy down even when they’re about the same height, thinks back about how he was able to tell the guy was an asshole from the beginning based on what Robby told him about and the few snippets of conversation he had managed to see over Robby’s shoulder. But Robby’s too kind, wears his heart on his sleeve, gives assholes that don’t deserve it second and even third chances

Abbot had let go of his anger a long time ago, learnt after being discharged that he couldn’t live his life being constantly angry at everyone and everything

he’s calm most of the time these days but when he hears the guy joke and say something like do you even know your best friend is a chick he’s back at being that guy who had gotten his foot blown off in the middle of fuckassnowhere and had been dropped back in civilization and expected to know how to behave in society

he blacks out, comes back when he’s kicking cement, because he’s being dragged, warm big familiar hands had slipped under his armpits and are pulling at him. A solid, big body behind him, the warmth, the smell, he knows exactly who is behind him and so he goes limp, letting Robby take all his weight as they both drop to their asses on the cold cement, chests heaving, hands clutching fistfuls of scrubs

Dana is a bit shaken, trying to check the guy’s face because there’s blood dripping everywhere, Jack internally hopes he managed to lock in a decent punch and at least broke his nose because that’s the least he deserves

the guy gets up, spitting and coughing a bit before he manages to throw something about Jack fucking Robby and something about girlfriend

it’s when everything clicks into place for Dana who turns to look at the security guard and tells him to keep the guy out of the hospital and if he dares to get close Abbot will file charges for assault

it makes the guy even angrier, because his face is the one that looks like a boxing bag and not Abbot’s

however, he barley gets a few yells in before Langdon is stepping in, saying how there are not one but three witnesses that saw him lunging for Abbot who did what needed to be done to protect the ER, its staff and its patients from an aggressive man

Robby drags Jack back inside the ER then, only making brief eye contact with the security guard who nods at him and his shoulders drop because he knows the security footage is gonna be coincidentally lost leaving no proof behind of what actually happened

headcanon about the origin of kris's knife and carol holiday

(based on this post by @patchwork-crow-writes because it got me Thinking to an extreme degree)

i always thought that while toriel might let kris keep their knife, she doesn't strike me as someone who would get her kid a weapon like that. and asgore feels like too much of a wimp to go against her like that while they were still together. so, where did it come from?

let's consider the way the dreemurrs and the holidays used to be close when their kids were little and carol's appreciation for sharp weapons (like her katana, or casting noelle's paper snowflakes in bronze). i think that for a kid like kris that would've been the coolest thing ever, that they'd constantly ask her to show it to them

regardless of how cute of a mental image tiny kris watching carol showing them her big fucking sword with glittering eyes and their horned headband on makes, the newest headcanon of mine is that carol could be the one that gifted kris their knife, perhaps for their birthday or for christmas. it's something of theirs that they value a lot (to the point of not letting the player even touch it - i talked about that fact a bit here) and quite literally always carry i guess (thanks ch4 for confirming that i love youuu)

i think that makes the possibility of her making kris the weapon that does her dirty work now even sadder. i suspect something deeply terrible happened in her psyche when one of her daughters disappeared that made her lose sight of stuff like care, morals or not-exploiting-a-possessed-teenager-you-watched-grow-up and end up the way she is now

it makes it doubly sad if this is kris's way of holding on to any shreds of what they used to know. their mom doesn't even notice anything wrong with them and seems too distracted to pay them any closer attention and do anything other that shrug and say "they do weird things sometimes", their dad is busy with his failing business and conspiracy corkboard trying to prove he didn't do anything wrong and is pretty inept at taking care of them, asriel is gone, noelle is distant, dess is missing and rudy is sick. up until they grew closer to susie, they had really no one to talk to perhaps save for carol. and, in that setup, maybe it doesn't matter if she's using them. they're not alone, at least. they can cling to the past like that
