No one:

My brain at 3 am: so if the conclave's will becomes Justice's will at the end of Sign, and Justice is controlling the Opus units in the area, who are Gears, how the hell are Dizzy, Paradigm, Sin, and Ky not being effected? You can make an argument for Dizzy and Sin as they both have command Gear blood from Justice herself. Ky has enough willpower to withhold a dragon install without a limiter, something not even Sol can really do, so I'm willing to play into disbelief there, but what about Paradigm??? How is he fighting it? Is Dizzy preventing anything from happening? Is Dizzy and Chronus just playing mental ping pong with Paradigm's mind?? This also brings the question of what is happening to Testament during this whole thing as they aren't in Xrd period. Did they just black out for a few hours and wake up once Chronus was barbecued by St. Elmo's Fire? Would they remember anything if they got effected? Would they feel Justice and immediately start freaking out because of how long she had mind controlled them in the past?

Mild question bugging me– Any reason Chronus didn't expect Dr Paradigm to be brought out during the Cradle incident to counter them? Considering Ky did. Well, side with Dr Paradigm for another world threatening thing (Valentine) I don't see why they wouldn't bring him out again for another dire situation?

Unless Chronus didn't know they had Dr Paradigm within the castle? Strikes me wrong though, since they did specifically pick Ky as king for Dizzy blackmail material, and they should(?) know she's in hiding somewhere.

As of GG2 Overture, the Conclave weren't even aware of Paradigm's existence, much less the Vizuel Army that attacked Illyria (which is why it was classified as the Baptisma 13 Incident, because few people knew that Valentine was the actual culprit, as it was a mass Gear disappearance with little explanation, as not even the Conclave knew what Ariels was doing).

While they didn't expect Paradigm to be as big a threat as he was (in Xrd's events), they were anticipating his moves after the first Babylon incident, so they were at least "attempting" to counter his strategies, however it seems they underestimated whom was working with Dr. P.

Even if Paradigm's plans didn't exactly get executed to perfection, his comprehension and involvement were essential and saved many lives along the way.

It's also worth noting that Dr. Paradigm developed a close relationship with Asuka R. Kreutz after Overture's events, as it was Asuka who hid Paradigm from the Conclave's view (when Leo Whitefang went looking for him in the sealed room in Illyria Castle).

Ky was aware of all this, of course, but he wasn't sure if he could trust Leo at first because of P.W.A.B. agents and other yes-men who supported the Conclave at the time, including the Assassins' Guild who were hounding Ky for various reasons prior to Overture's events.

Chapter 1: Reckless Life

Author's Note: Updated my Street Sharks, influenced once again by @gorgonitemaiden, @marquisedemasque and I am rewatching the series again.

Chapter 1 is being used as a prologue of sorts hence the shortness though each chapter will vary in length.

Chapter 1: Reckless Life

Danielle Dubois was in her boathouse working on her boat, The Sea King, as she worked Guns N’ Roses’ Sweet Child O' Mine blared from through the speakers of her radio. She didn’t have any tours booked which suited her just fine, sometimes she gets clients that are too much and wear her patience and tolerance for BS to the point where she just wanted to toss them into the sea and report it as an accident.

A loud knock startled her so badly that she smacked her head against the lid over her engine. “Fuck! Ow!” Who was the clown that ignored the CLOSED sign? She was going to have some choice words for them.

“….Sorry, Dani.” Cooper’s sheepish voice sounded from behind her.

And her anger vanished just like that, she could never stay mad at Cooper Bolton and she did give the whole Bolton family free access to her boathouse, shop and house, regardless of any signs she may have out.

She turned her head and smiled at him, pulling her hand away from her head to check for blood. No blood but she’s got one Hell of a headache and probably a bump. “It’s okay, Cooper Trooper. What’s up?”

“Just wanted to check if we were still on for movie night?”

“Yeah, hopefully your Dad will be there to join us.” Dr. Bolton has been working overtime for the past few weeks, at least according to Dr. Paradigm. Danielle, honestly, didn’t trust him but didn’t have anything to show for her deep distrust for Dr. Bolton’s colleague.

He just gave her the creeps to the point where she always made sure to never be left alone with him whenever she visited Dr. Bolton…Dr. Paradigm stared at her like he would a test subject.

And she didn’t like it, it made her skin crawl.

Cooper smiled. “I hope so too, Bobby got one of his favorite movies.”

“He’s never gone for more than three weeks.” Danielle said, walking over to him and patting his arm. “So he’ll be there.”

Cooper hugged her and she returned it, patting his back. “…Thanks.” He released her. “We’ll see you tonight.”

“Yeah, I’ll call you if I can’t make it.” She and him did their special handshake, she had one for each brother, before hugging once more and she saw him out. Danielle waved once more as Cooper skateboarded away, smiling widely.

Though that smile disappeared when he had become a speck. She had remembered that Dr. Paradigm has captured a tiger shark, whale shark, great white shark and a hammerhead shark, which every shark biologist protests.

Danielle wasn’t too happy either, especially since she had tagged those four sharks and he had somehow gotten his hands on their frequency.

She thinks that the head of the marine institute that she attends is in his pocket somehow, that’s the only reason she can come up with on how he was able to locate and capture them. She hoped they were still alive, sharks didn’t do too well when they got too stressed and the great white shark definitely didn’t do too well in captivity.

No aquarium had even been able to hold one after all.

They just didn’t survive…not that she liked seeing any shark or fish in a glass tank, they belonged in the ocean and she refused any request to capture a shark to bring to the aquarium. If you want to see a shark, she knew all the spots where they liked to be at.

And she knew how to swim with them safely, she’s only been bitten once and that had been her fault. She had ignored the signs that the shark didn’t like her in its space and paid for that, thankfully it had been a small shark but it left its mark on her calf that she always used as a reminder.

Respect sharks and their personal space.

Sharks did communicate what they were feeling but you had to know their behavior first, sharks had personalities that were different even amongst their own kind. She knew a Lemon shark that didn’t like other sharks coming to her for attention, it was both funny and cute.

Danielle sighed heavily and ruffled her hair, tapping her toe against the ground. Anyways she needed to finish the engine and clean up her boathouse…and make sure to clean up any trash that may have accidentally fallen into the ocean. She would be busy when it was time for her to leave later.
