Dragalia Niche Things In Weapon Lore You May Not Know
-Emperor Dane, ya know, the dude that Jupiter accidentally set on a brutal conquest where he became a dude that would kill two for fun every day?
He was also a weeaboo:
Tumblr media
I knew there must have been warning signs that such a nice prince could be beholden to such depravity...
-Karina's real identity maaaaybe is Miralda, princess of Dargas.
Tumblr media
The weapon that bears this description is a water axe, the very same weapon and element she wields, and it theoretically fits within her story. She claims that she ran off, but hardly escaped before she was captured. It would make sense that in a pirate invasion that they'd be crawling over the area enough to instantly get ahold of her.
If true, this would be an interesting case of Dragalia telling the future of a character. It's also one I potentially could see, since Karina's story focuses on her wondering how Euden has kept himself as a Good Boi even if he's a prince among all those Nasty Bois and Girls, so I could see her being inspired to change things in her own land later on.
Granted, it's not 100%, 'I have a definitive section where she clearly states she is Miralda', but I think there's enough 'hmm' elements to warrant a spot here!
-Zodiark had a cult around him, who called themselves Meggidothians! Also, they liked sacrificing humans.
...Of course, not officially sanctioned, but that didn't stop them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meggidoth might have also been a real person, but it is unknown how much he was involved or responsible for the cult's creation/tenets:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also have an alternative cosmology:
Tumblr media
-This isn't really a hidden lore or fact, but I find it curious that the weapon 'Blackwing' bears such a strong resemblance to Zodiark, without being attributed to him in any way. It looks more like him than his actual high dragon weapon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Alberius had a lance made when his kingdom was created and promised to personally kill anyone with it that threatened the formation of the new nation. He meant business, I guess!
-Tartarus may have been cut in half by the Greatwyrms, which is the reason he's now half-steel:
Tumblr media
-Humans once got so nutty over a spear that Mercury put it at the bottom of the ocean
Tumblr media
-There may be more than just one ark of humans living in the sky and at least one may have fallen and did a whoopsie destruction of a kingdom:
Tumblr media
-Kukris are a weapon tied to the southeastern-most part of Grastea:
Tumblr media
...And this is another instance of 'very niche lore that the writers kept track of', as Nevin's story also reaffirms this lore that kukris aren't really used except in the SE:
Tumblr media
-This is just a funny intermission, but I find it funny if you take the many many many weapon descriptions literally, Euden's handing out weapons left and right quite skilled in delivering torture and otherwise painstaking deaths and subsequent commendations to a similarly terrible afterlife. Oh yeah and some also can destroy the world. Here's a small sample of what I mean:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And trust me, despite the 3/4 examples being shadow weapons, this is far from exclusive to the shadow element. So, uh, yeah.
Don't mess with the Halidom unless you want to face a whole bunch of people capable of sending you and your soul into endless agonies?
Intermission over! Back to the actual lore parts instead of just the 'oh boy you're gonna love to hear what this beauty's capable of...' likely exaggerations.
-There's a prison called Odo somewhere in the world, who seems to have a lot of executioners who predominately execute by the good old axe or by a bow in a proto version of a firing squad, judging by their weapons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's unknown if it still exists, however, as Odo was the place Stribog the dragon protected until Agni destroyed it with a firebomb disguised as a Trojan Horse. Maybe it was rebuilt and eventually repurposed as a prison town?
As bonus related lore, the death penalty is very much still active in Alberia, and usually takes the form of beheading or hanging. It can be commanded by local lords (as feudalism is in full effect with local lords having much control over the workings of their endowed region) as well as through courts.
There's also this bit of lore regarding it in another weapon:
Tumblr media
-There may have been another race in Grastea, possibly their equivalent of halfling or gnome-esque races:
Tumblr media
-This strays into other niche lore, but there was a band of elite Alberian knights called the Alberian Ironsides who seemed to love tower shields:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
-Also another crossover between wyrmprints and weapon lore, the Battle of the Thelodian Plains was one at least 300 years ago in which eventually 23 armies unaffiliated with a formal state came together in a senseless battle, with a casualty rate of 80% (quick reminder that 'casualty' counts both injured and dead).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-There was a dude called Count Logan the Brave who seemed to like collecting weapons and bringing them back home. There's three weapons that mention him.
Tumblr media
-Interestingly, Troy, the one adventurer dude that pops up a bit frequently in weapon lore, the wand from his last supposed adventure seems to bear a bit of a resemblance to Bahamut...
Tumblr media
...Who, by the way, was indeed the explicit creator of the earth, as Xenos crafted sky instead!
-Last but not least, Zodiark really just seems to be involved in a lot of weapons that are Not Good for their wielder:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's all I have right now, but I do hope that you learned something about the eternally-batty Grastea, through the weapons its residents use!

Hi everyone! Sorry for my radio silence the past couple weeks; everything everywhere is terrible, you see.
Anyway, I'm still not sure exactly when submissions will open up, but until then, I figured I would get out the ruleset I'm thinking of so we can all get on the same page, as "marine reptile" isn't a specific taxon or anything.
So the gist of my concept is that the candidate must be clearly reptilian, and either based off a real marine reptile, or be a reptile that isn't necessarily aquatic in real life, but is in the work it comes from.
For clarity's sake, we will consider "real marine reptile" to refer to: turtles (not tortoises!), sea snakes, marine iguanas, crocodilians, ichthyosaurs, sauropterygians, mosasaurs, and thalattosaurs. There may be others I'm missing but this should cover most of them.
In addition, mythical creatures like sea serpents and dragons WILL be allowed, and reptiles that are marine or aquatic in their fiction WILL also be allowed even if not from the above groups. Please read the detailed rules below, though!
I've spent quite some time figuring this out so, I'm pretty happy with these, but feel free to leave feedback and if I'm convinced I will make adjustments!
Detailed rules:
If the candidate is based off of the listed groups, they ARE eligible, UNLESS the candidate is specifically terrestrial or averse to water. This includes characters based off of animals in the listed groups, but are not aquatic in their fiction. Examples of eligible candidates based on this rule: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Vector the Crocodile, Lapras, etc. Examples of characters NOT eligible from this rule: Torkoal, the FF15 Adamantoise, Krookodile.
If the candidate is kinda sorta based off of one of the listed groups (like a hybrid or something), they WILL be allowed so long as the overall intent still reads as a marine reptile. Example: The Driblee from Kirby more or less resemble small plesiosaurish things, so they count even if they're not really based on an actual animal. The Turtle Tiger from Yu-Gi-Oh, meanwhile, is not really a marine reptile as much as it is a tiger in a shell, so it will not count.
Candidates not based at all on the above groups CAN still be eligible, INCLUDING dragons, sea serpents, random lizards, and tortoises, IF and ONLY if they meet BOTH following criteria: a) They are clearly reptilian (based on design, not lore), and not fish/eels, too humanoid, or an amalgam of too many different things that renders them no longer really reptilian (like some Asian dragons). b) They are creatures that actually live in an aquatic environment, and are not just "Water type", or a water deity that presides over a body of water without actually living in or being adapted for it. Examples of allowed candidates: Sobble, Seadramon, Mercury from Dragalia Lost, the Water Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh Examples of ineligible candidates: Kingdra, the Unagi from Avatar, Peng Lai from Dragalia Lost, Milotic
This time, documentary animals are ONLY allowed if the animal was entirely CGI generated. Which is to say, probably only extinct documentary characters. On the other hand, animal characters portrayed by real animals in fiction ARE eligible.

do you have a guide for someone who wants to get into alyuri? like the stories and stuffs?
OH YOU ASKED AT THE PERFECT TIME because I literally was hoping to make a general guide about them and their stories across not just Granblue Fantasy but also their original Rage of Bahamut incarnations and their Dragalia Lost cameos because they're about to rerun the BEST ALYURI EVENT EVER on July 15 in GBF. Long post ahead!
As for where to START, I highly recommend going in with the Granblue Fantasy story (which is where I found them at first), as there is a clear continuity and story progression with dedicated setup, plot, character building, and (now that there's been plenty of events and fate episodes) some truly delicious payoff. In addition, they're fully voiced with some beautiful CGs and art, and are incredibly fun to just watch audiobook/VN style! Their voice actors breathe so much life into the story. Most of these are available to see on YT, but I can link them for good measure since this will be like, a diet resource post. I wasn't able to find the first two Light SSR Albert (I might go record them from my own game in a bit) or Summer Yurius episodes, and I don't have him in the game [screaming and crying] but the GBF wiki has full text transcripts of those.
For a reading order, it goes like this:
-Light SSR Albert Fate Episodes 1+2 (Not REQUIRED per se, but a good intro to his character)
-Eye of the Storm (Side Story) [Personally, I'd recommend to start here because it properly introduces Levin and the actual story]
-[Optional] SR Albert Fate Episodes 1+2
-Wind SSR Yurius Fate Episodes 1+2
-Light SSR Albert 5*/Lv100 Fate Episode
-[Optional, placed here because of the release chronology] Summer Albert SSR Fate Episodes 1+2
-False Heroes (Event Story, is getting rerun in a few days and is in my opinion some of the best content with them bar none, I HIGHLY recommend experiencing it yourself!!!!! GBF has an event rereading function, even if you skip through it, so long as you unlock it, you can read it later)
-Dark Albert Fate Episodes 1+2
-A Sweltering Eternal Getaway (yes, the summer event is lore relevant for several important Levin characters and important to Yurius's character arc. don't worry about it.)
-[Optional] Summer Yurius SSR Fate Episodes 1+2
-[Bonus!] Here's some crumbs of an official "Bad Ending" from the ...And You event.
Now, going onto Dragalia Lost, the easiest and fastest one to actually go through, which is ironic since the game itself has long since EoS'd. It's super simple--watch Albert's Adventurer Story, then Yurius's. That's pretty much it. I really like their Dragalia Story even though it's short, since it's a fun mix of their love-hate relationship in RoB combined with the sort of care and closeness of the GBF story. There's a few character crumbs here and there in their voice lines and Wyrmprints (available on the DL wiki of course), but nothing MAJOR unless you want to go digging. The DL fanbase did a good job of archiving the game though, so if you want to see the smaller bits, they're all out there.
Now, by far the most obtuse (from an English speaking standpoint) for the least amount of reward is the Rage of Bahamut story. RoB is not accessible in English, but a few dedicated fans have compiled story summaries of all that happens. Here's a golden Twitter thread of a lot of their plot-relevant and side content in the game. They've also provided some translations and videos for some of the voiced content in RoB too! Here's a link for some of the 4komas that some fans took care of as well. Their relationship in RoB is very silly, as they never really...make up? They stay frenemies as opposed to other stories where they reconcile their pasts. Each card in RoB also contains some flavor text for the characters they feature, and a few of those are covered in the thread. The other cards are out there, but they are in Japanese, but if you're interested I could see if I could compile a quick list of the flavor texts with real rough translations. It's mostly some flavor though, not incredibly important plot-wise unless you're hungry for more of the way their RoB relationship is written.
As a small aside about RoB--it's the first incarnation of these characters, and it's ... on the older side. I think it's perfectly fair to say that originally, Yurius was something of a homosexual caricature played often as a joke, and I think it's important to understand that when looking at the older content. The newer content, however, has come quite a long way, and as someone whose been following the way Cygames has been developing their relationship for half a decade at this point, I think it's certainly improved just overall.
Well. That should be enough content to at least get that ball rolling and keep ya busy. If for some reason you get through all this and want some more crumbs or fanworks, let me know! I have many a fic/doujinshi recommendation as well :] Here's some cute official art for making it this far and forcing me to write this mini guide in prep for the False Heroes rerun !

So funfacts about Marth:
He always uses a SHIELD in Fire Emblem, infact his shield is the titular Fire Emblem itself. Interviews reveal Marth was made as a contrast to Link as a swordfighter, so this is probably why he lacks the Fire Emblem.
Marth is actually a romanization of MARS, the God of War, MARTH is a mispelling of MARS, the same way another Fire Emblem spells ARES as ALESS and his FE game spells MINERVA as MINERBA. Infact the debut menu for Melee spells Marth as MARS. Due to Melee putting Marth in the english version of Melee last minute ,he stays Marth and due to the popularity of Melee, he stays Marth.
Infact most characters in his games are named after mythological and biblical figures like the roman goddess, Minerva or two of his knights being Cain and Abel. Some of these names are weird like an evil dragon that enslaved Marth's people being called MOSES in Japan, which got censored in the only english localization of his game which turned the name into MORZAS.
In line with the roman name, Marth used to wear a Toga with no pants whatsoever.
His appearance is based off an anime character called Areone, but as time went on, the resemblance was downplayed.
The original Marth only appears within two Fire Emblem games in a prominent role, as well as two DS remakes, but only the first DS remake was ever localized in english.
Marth is at his best in the NES game, second his best in the SNES game (where he still wears a toga at parts) and at his worst in the DS remakes. This has created a fan joke that his pants are a power limiter.
Marth kills more dragons; both sapient dragons in human form and feral dragons, than any other Fire Emblem protagonist in the franchise. Infact in the crossover game, Dragalia lost, Marth worries he may be prejudiced against dragons.
Fire Emblem Engage has a weird clone of Marth in a prominent role.
Chrom, Lucina and Robin's game was supposed to have Marth's story as a background element, but as the writer of that game had never played any of Marth's game, the references fall flat on their face so the only real reference is Lucina dressing as Marth, mostly as a publicity stunt.
Nice, I love this sort of deep dive lore thing :)

Looking Back on World Flipper
Tumblr media
[ Ok this is a bit embarrassing. This retrospective was originally supposed to be published before world flipper shutdown but I never got around to uploading it to my Tumblr. I only published it on my Reddit. World Flipper is extremely starved for content so hopefully this article will be found by fans feeling nostalgic for the game.]
At the time of the original writing, World flipper was only days away from shutting down permanently for global players. This is a common dilemma gacha gamers have to grapple with time and time again. We get invested in a game we think we can fall in love with only for it to one day forever vanish from our screens. I want to say I'm numb to this experience, but it still stings how games are treated as disposable goods.
I didn't think much of World Flipper when playing it for the first time. The pinball mechanic was a fun and unique experience, but it wasn't a game I saw myself getting addicted to like Dragalia Lost. The story wasn't all that provoking either. Alk started off as an amnesiac good Samaritan who's not all that different from the average anime protagonist. The minimal dialogue during the first few chapters didn't do much to expand upon the setting either. This was in stark contrast to how Dragalia Lost was stuffed to the gills with content. It felt like taking a step backwards in comparison.
It wasn't until the Neon Skyline event did the story take my breath away. A cyberpunk story featuring crime fighting vigilantes was the last thing I expected from this game. I quickly fell in love with Bulleta and her fearless daredevil attitude. It was with this event that cygames began showing off their creativity and sublime writing skills. Wanting to sink my teeth even deeper into the story, I played through the main quest until I got to 7 where the lore really began to pick up. We got to explore Light's original world and experience its near destruction. The tone of world 7 to 8 is notably more grim compared to the game's usually upbeat tone. It was a much needed dive into serious drama to give the narrative some meat to its bones.
The story outdid itself once more when we got sent to Shibuya in World 10, Alk's home. Being a fan of games like The world ends with you, Persona 5, and Jet set radio, Shibuya is my absolute favorite setting to see in Japanese media. It's essentially the New York of Japan. This chapter was rife with drama and much needed exploration of Alk's character. I especially loved how the plot felt similar to TWEWY and Devil Survivor with the whole premise of teens being trapped in Shibuya while also developing supernatural powers. Now I really need cygames to develop a shibuya-punk style game. While the final chapters weren't as good as this one, WF still had a mostly satisfying conclusion. The greatest highlight of the story was when several of the characters arrived at the final battle in a robotic dragon to help All and his friends. It was so glorious seeing my favorite characters finally appear on the same screen and team up in an epic war against the antagonist.
The main selling point of WF is definitely the characters. Cygames has mastered the art of making characters players can fall in love with. There's a huge cast of quirky adventures to choose from and you're bound to find a few you resonate with. It never felt like I was simply collecting units to power through the game. Each character brought a delightful experience with them. My personal fave is Vyron for being the hottest guy in videogame history. I would pay serious money for more content about him. It's a shame that the fanbase is so micro sized, because you could write a library worth of fanfiction with how cool these characters are. I also love Bulleta for her rebellious and action-loving attitude. Also have to give Cygames props for the abundance of brown skin characters they included. Asian games are typically starved of melatonin so it was nice to play a mobile game with diverse skin tones.
There's a huge amount of diversity in the designs due to all the different worlds. My favorite worlds are Shibuya for the previously mentioned reasons and Endless Blue for being Oceanpunk themed. Oceanpunk is an incredibly rare genre so it was awesome seeing it represented here. I loved seeing all the nautical themed clothing on display and how lovely the setting was. I would definitely love to see cygames expand on the setting by making a fully fledged Oceanpunk game in the future.
World flipper wasn't a perfect game, but it definitely had its charm. It kept me entertained throughout the years and I doubt I'll ever find a game quite like it.

If there is one game I still miss so much, is Dragalia Lost.
Those days I keep hyping, discussing and theorizing on the lore of that game, while binging on the dragons...

I adore the implication in Operation: At Your Service that there's a certain brand of magic exclusively used by servants of the upper class and the more realized a servant becomes in this obscure magic art the more they just become a magical girl.
Absolutely magnificent this is THE gacha game of all time.

As shown in my previous post, all adventurer story summaries will take the same form. I’ll probably do dragon stories in the future as well, albeit much shorter.
The plan is to summarize all major story events as well! As far as I understand, there’s no main archive for all the dragalia lost story bits, and given how much I love this game’s story, I thought I’d do so myself. I’m just one gal though, so don’t expect maximum efficiency. The main reason I started this in general was particularly for my enjoyment as well as convenience. As new information is released/new posts are made, I’ll update older posts with links (connected adventurer stories, adventurer alts, etc.).
I am and will always be taking requests for the next adventurer and/or event summary! If there’s no requests for something in particular, I’ll just pick whoever interests me at the time. For events, I plan to make those by order of release, unless there’s a brand new event out. In that instance, the summary will only be released until after the epilogue has dropped.
Anyway, thanks for listening! I hope to hear everyone’s feedback if you’re interested.

More Dragalia Minor Mistakes (Or, when Dragalia's writers and/or translators failed a lore check)...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Dragalia was surprisingly astute to the general mass of lore it had. That being said, it's only natural that a few mistakes or lore contradictions would slip through the cracks over years of development, perhaps staff coming and going, yadda yadda. Consider this just the second of small logs of whatever I've noticed, throughout my meanderings through the wiki and more!
First up, we're starting today's category with 'technology', namely, the humble abacus. Dragalia's mishmash of technology is understandable, since they've been artificially kept in a state of technological limbo until canon time. And of their technology, we know that the abacus is something that's been lost to most of the world, it seems.
It's Xiao Lei's whole thing, for the rest of the cast to be amazed at how fast she's able to do math with, how cool that is, etc etc. It's this special Taiwuan thing that might save the scientists in Alberia a lot of work!
One problem: this random NPC, very Alberian, shopkeep also is randomly using one, to no amazement by the cast.
Tumblr media
Whoops.
More relevant to the main story, though, Phares once incurs a small case of brainfog and mistakes the name of his own terminal illness:
Tumblr media
This one I think I can reasonably provide a rationale for this being a translator's error, perhaps one who hadn't dealt with Phares or at least dealt with him for a while. Why? Wyrmscale is more literally in Japanese 'dragon scale - itis', (or, 竜鱗病, ryu urin byou, ryu=dragon, urin=scale, byo = character for 'sickness'), so a translator might have read that and just translated it literally instead of checking whatever lore docs they might have had that they'd already called it 'wyrmscale' in English!
Also related to the lore, this next one's more of a case of later lore contradicting the earlier one, and boy is it petty quibbling on my end.
In short, take a look at this dialogue from Elysium:
Tumblr media
See anything wrong? No?
Well, my problem is the use of the word 'young' here! It is the singular word that goes against lore here, as I can't exactly argue against his opinion claim of 'immature!'
We've no less than three other canon sources at least that instead frame humans as a species as among the first in the universe, right along with dragons!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, yes, Elysium, you're not wrong to call humans 'immature', but to call their species 'young'???? You know better than that! (no he didn't, since this dialogue came before any of the other contradictions here, I believe, but it's still technically an error!)
If we're on a dragon kick, pop quiz: who was Alberius' first pactbound dragon?
Some of you might be yelling 'MIDGARDSORMR' as others yell 'CHTHONIUS', and then you both might hypothetically look at each other and feel confused. Well, you may be glad to know that this was a genuine lore contradiction instead of one of you being 'wrong'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's understandable why people thought both options, even aside from the lore confusion. Midgardsormr as the first to really start hanging out with him, or Chthonius as the dragon he was tied body and soul to in the end, who literally merged with him?
Overall, I'm more of the 'Chthonius' side for what they ultimately intended, as we also see other descriptions painstakingly spell out that Mids was the 'first dragon to personally meet Alberius' instead of just saying 'pact with Alberius', and one slipped through the cracks, but still! These minor lore slip ups are what I'm cataloguing here. Honestly, between this, the non-pact slip-up with Brunhilda in the previous post I made, and other things like Alberius slapping Jupiter, he sure had a lot of pacting 'fun' and drama, huh?
Now I'll return to the royal fam lore drama. A long long time ago, I made a post explaining how the family says their names, as is said by their siblings. Some (Phares, cough cough) shooketh me greatly, as the aforementioned example's name might more phonetically be rendered 'Farez' to me instead of the 'Fairays' I was running with more since in my brain I was connecting it to words like "pharaoh" instead.
But I realized I overlooked their father's name. From what I'm seeing, only Audric says his own real name, as everyone else wants to call him His Majesty, Father, or the King.
And here's the doozy: his dementia aura he gives everyone has also been affecting he himself, because he says HIS OWN NAME two different ways!
Here's the relevant soundbites to demonstrate what I mean:
Here, we see one 'Or - Ray - Li - Us' and one 'Or - Rel - ii - Us'
I thiiink we see 'Ray' version twice vs the one time of 'Rel', but this more seems to be a division between his base form and Gala form.
I did a bit more digging, and we've also Gala Gatov... but his pronunciation is so foggy that it's remarkably hard to tell if he's saying 'Ray' 'Rel' or 'Ril', though I overall lean towards 'Rel' on a slowdown!
So... yeah. I guess it's ultimately up to you guys how you wanna say his name, because they sent mixed signals in English!
(As a bonus I'll just throw this other soundbite out here for any of you guys curious about how to say Vio Rhyse Alberia, since it's become a minor battle cry for the fandom in their grief)
Huh... you know, that might actually be a great place to meld into my final example!
'Vio Rhyse Alberia' is suggested once to mean 'Glory to Alberia'. Presumably, it's not just their modern language nor another real one, since we don't really see them bust out other similar phrases. Heck, even Audric's pronunciation here is a slight warp from the standard 'Al-beer-ia' with whatever little roll he's doing with the 'r' in there.
Specifically, it's likely 'Ancient Alberian', a language that Elisanne ID's as existing in ch.13, and one Phares is also likely able to read for him to be able to get the stuff it's written on up and working (+the fact he's specifically talented in 'ancient languages' plural).
Tumblr media
This is... well, a big 'Hum' moment, in that while I cannot think of a way in which it makes sense, it's not as cut-and-dry as the others for 'this says x, this says y'.
If we're talking early Ilian church, specifically, this dates this machine to about 1k years ago, during the golden age of humanity and Ilia. It makes sense, since alchemy was also in its heyday then.
The thing is that Alberia just flat-out didn't exist until 300 years ago, until Alberius created it. With how similar 'Alberius' and 'Alberia' are in name, one might have presumed he named it after himself. But let's excuse that little bit, and just say it's a root that stems from earlier language in the same way humans are often named after objects even to this day.
It's still a bit confusing - this puts Ilia in a weird place to where she's fully comprehend-able to our modern crew and vice-versa despite seemingly speaking this different language. Ilia even seems to share a similar slang culture, with her joining the crew in occasionally butchering French on purpose (toot sweet in place of tout de suite). I might be tempted to excuse it like how English has developed, from a point where its written variety has greatly developed even when most of the words they were saying/writing are understandable, but this again is troubled by the existence of 'Vio Rhyse Alberia', a phrase that is clearly not a 'normal part' of their language.
This is giving me weird ideas where Ilia is speaking in this really ancient dialect that's just barely understandable to the modern day crew, kinda like how we can kinda piece out even some Old English or Latin with vocabulary even when it's written entirely differently. Take the good old people doing Old English covers of songs, where we see 'Irish-made' in a Pumped Up Kicks translation turned to 'Írisc-worht', which to me I can piece together 'Irish' from the first word and get reminded of 'wrought' from the second, which is a word that means, well, made from.
I digress. The best way I can really excuse the name is honestly a bit funny: that historians and all those scholars retroactively decided to call this language they (re)discovered 'Ancient Alberian' just because the land that they discovered it on or something is now Alberia, long enough before that the Church was able to pick it up again and start teaching kids it.
Alternatively, that there was a historical Alberia that Alberius stole the name from, that Euden would then go on to steal from Alberius when naming his own kingdom. "That's Alberia, this is Alberia, are there any more Alberias I should know about? Meow (says Leonidas' 'Alberia' reformed under his sovereignty)"
Sigh. Make of it what you will. But there's something funky going on in the linguistical history of Alberia here. The way I've personally decided to sweep it under the rug is treating them as spoken similarly enough for Alberius-Ilia-Euden to all mutually comprehend (Alberius additionally trapped in a cave and serving as a perfect time capsule of his language at the time), but the written form has warped far too much for any of them to understand each other. Still doesn't explain Vio Rhyse but hey, blame other lost language's influence or something and boom.
That's enough rambling on my end, however. If you've any other plot holes or lore failure checks, though, please let me know!

I really wish we had gotten to see more of Elly doing her duty as a Grand Paladyn before Chapter 16, where she then immediately gave it all up.
I loved that Elly was getting some focus and development over the course of finding out the truth about Euden's birthright, because beforehand she just seemed set to the side as "girl who has crush on Euden #24", and honestly, to see her using her position and her knowledge of the Church doctrine to bring justice to Father Marko was seriously awesome. I think it was the first time we actually got to see her bringing the hammer down on criminal behavior within the church, and I'm really sad it seems it'll be the last time.

What was up with Leonidas absorbing some of Morsayati's power? Am I misremembering or did that actually happen just before we got Alex and was never bought up again?
I'm actually so glad you asked this Leonidas is such a fascinating subject. So basically, yes, in Chapter 8 Leonidas does aquire some of Morsayati's power from a binding ruin somewhere near Valkaheim, he then uses this power to get himself out of there via otherworld gate, leaving Euden & Co, along with Alex, to fend for themselves against the fiends.
Now this power is brought up again in Chapter 10, and possibly some chapters in-between I can't quite remember. Anyway in Chapter 10, the chapter where all of Euden's siblings join Morsayati and rally against him, Morsayati (currently possessing Zethia) seems to acknowledge that Leonidas has some of his power and even says this to him.

Which is intriguing for a lot of reasons, but mostly because Leonidas and Morsayati actually parallel each other a bit. Leonidas lost his mother to a storm caused by a dragon and took to hating dragons as a result, Morsayati spawned from the hatred Mordecai felt seeing Elysium kill Ilia. Interesting, if a but off topic.
Now, to my knowledge, Chapter 10 is the last time we see this brought up ever again (Euden even fights him in a later chapter, we don't see it get used at all). However i do have a few theories to offer.
Theory 1: The Writers Forgot
Exactly what it says on the tin, we don't see Leonidas using his otherworld powers post Chapter 10 because the writers forgot he had them. I personally find this one to be unlikely because the dl writers are remarkably good at keeping a handle on even insignificant details (they even keep track of which members of Euden's party can and cannot sense the flow of mana, which is a detail almost no one bothers to look for) so its difficult to imagine them losing track Leonidas having otherworld powers.
Theory 2: He Lost His Powers
Now. Leonidas' powers directly originate from Morsayati, who was just kind of absorbed by Beren in Chapter 14. Its entirely possible that with Morsayati himself gone so too did his power vanish from the world. This does leave an unexplained gap in Chapters 11 to 14 where there's no explanation, but to my memory the only ability Leonidas really got from Morsayati was otherworld gates, which can only be used to transport a few people, and usually when we see Leonidas in these chapters hes traveling with a large army.
Theory 3: Actively Stopped
So the idea that Leonidas actively stopped using his otherworld abilities is mostly based on the idea that post-chapter 14 he seems to try to build a better reputation for himself, offering supplies to the displaced citizens who were attempting to kill Euden (under the assumption Euden was now possessed by Morsayati), reshaping Valkaheim into a normally functioning city as opposed to whatever it was before, and so forth. Its not difficult to imagine that between trying to make a better name for himself and the threat of people still looking for an answer to where Morsayati went, he made the wise choice to stop actively using Morsayati's power.
Id also like to note that absolutely none of what I'm saying here detracts from the idea that Leonidas is still actively plotting world domination (as seen in Gala Leonidas' adventurer story). That's still very much a thing that is happening.
Theory 4: Lost His Powers But In A Different Way
So in Forgotten Truths we learned that Morsayati is literally Mordecai's hatred made manifest. Its entirely possible that in order to use Morsayati's power you have to be rather hate filled yourself, a criteria Leonidas definitely meets in his earlier appearances.

Yeah...
Anyway this theory follows that since Leonidas seems to calm down a bit as the story progresses he may simply lose the use of Morsayati's ability as a result. This one's a bit more speculation than the others given that we have very little precedent for how Morsayati's abilities actually work, especially in this regard, but a theory's a theory.
Anyway yeah in summary there's no real canon explanation but I have a few thoughts of my own. Hope this answers your original question.
