Dragalia 60 min challenge art dump, Part 2

I've been trying pretty hard to incorporate colour into these but i feel like every new one is taking longer and longer to do o-oh...

Dragalia's Knights of Glory art

Now, it's been gone over how Dragalia Lost actually used quite a bit of inspiration from one of Cygames' previous works, Knights of Glory, for anything from character designs to dragons.

Of course, this showed up quite literally with characters like Lea when they quite literally just had the "Knights of Glory" showcase, but it also showed up in characters ranging from Jakob to Mikoto to Jurota (also showcasing the alighting butterfly blade, also in Dragalia):

However funny it is to see who we came to know as different characters in a different media, though, the dragons are 10x funnier to look at.

You see, it seemed that Knights of Glory had a certain 'evolution system' to dragons, where they'd develop and grow more fancy, if they weren't inexplicably transforming into an attractive humanoid woman because of course-

And oh boy, we can kinda see alternative evolutionary paths for the Greatwyrms.

There's Midgardsormr, who seems to most closely resemble the fully evolved form from the start...(he also gained an element, as this dragon line apparently has no element!)

Mercury, who is in her middle phase:

...Brunhilda? Not very sure on this one. She might just be a new design, but here's my best guess for what dragon they might have been inspired from:

Of course, in her 'final form' if this was a dragon they used as inspiration.

Jupiter, whom I'd almost put in his middle stage for closeness of design:

Last but not least, poor Zodiark, who really got hammered with the skeletal dragon design and is also in his middle stage and is also drooling 24/7:

Where is his stomach? Where are his organs? Why is he bipedal?? He lost some bulk in his transition to Dragalia, too. Honestly, I like Dragalia Zodiark more than his inspiration here.

That's enough of full evolutionary trees for now, though.

Speaking of, quite a few of the dragons were actually repurposed into bosses, as with Satan above, like everyone's favorite:

(We must not let Phraeganoth be revived! ...Until Bondforged Zethia's story, at least).

Might be a stretch here, but maaaaaybe a bit of Kai Yan in here?

● Okay so from what I've listened to he's not called a dragon but he is a four-armed, two-legged reptilian man who is born/created to be the guardian and caretaker of an ancient massive magical plant house called The Keep. So, magic lizard guarding magic castle sounds like a dragon to me.

He falls in love with a male human knight and a female human scientist. Bi and poly rights! We have enemies to lovers, homoerotically charged duels, and desperate acts of kidnapping to save the only thing he loves that leads to him finding more people to love (and also saves the only thing he loved).

Midgardsormr

● Midgardsormr is the Windwyrm, a dragon who governs over the winds. Dragons in Dragalia Lost are considered an important part of nature itself, standing apart from humanity.

However, the protagonist's ancestor, Alberius, formed an incredibly close bond with Midgardsormr, to the point of completely changing his opinions on humans and the world at large. This culminated in them both rebelling against Elysium (who is essentially a dragon god) to protect humanity from his divine judgement.

Even three hundred years later, Midgardsormr clearly still thinks highly of Alberius and their time together.

Mini Mids Plush!

I finally got a working pattern for Mini Mids! A tutorial is on its way. I have all of the footage, so now it's just putting it all together into one video. I will make another post when it is all complete with the video and pattern, all for free!

Slowly but surely, the Greatwyrms are coming back together!

I acknowledge the fact that my Smash wishlist isn’t really filled with likely choices but I try my best to make sure my Smash wishlist only includes characters/small groups of characters I can actually see getting in as fighters. Here’s me talking about it (couldn’t think of a way to neatly transition into the list)

Robert is outclassed by Goroh and pretty much equally as likely as Pico. I’m gonna say Black Shadow and Jody feel less likely to be chosen as a second F-Zero fighter, at least when the most recent (and only for 20 years) “new” game is 99 which only includes the Original Four as playable characters so new fans would be forgiven for having little to no attachment to anyone else (that said anyone who has access to 99 I believe also has access to every single other game* except GX, assuming they’re on Switch 1 which in this economy they probably are if they have NSO). I don’t think there’s a single other Master Spirit (okay maybe Toadette or the Balance Board and at a push Timmy and Tommy) that feels likely to get in but for some reason Robert being a Master Spirit gives me hope

Ayumi is outclassed by Ryota who honestly feels like the Falcon of Wave Race but she feels more likely than anyone else (David just doesn’t feel like he’d be chosen as a first rep for Wave Race, Miles only appears in 64 making him less relevant, Nigel and Serena only appear in Blue Storm making them less important/well-known and Akari, Ricky and Rob are more likely to represent their home series 1080) and she feels like she could be chosen because of Min Min being chosen over Springman (and to a lesser extent Ribbon Girl)

The Mach Rider isn’t outclassed by anyone. I don’t even think the Excitebiker outclasses her. She’s just unlikely because her game had one instalment on the NES and never returned. Strangely that same justification makes her feel more likely though because she’s a retro choice

The Proto Beasts and Neo Swords are outclassed by (from most to least likely) Meowscarada, Eevee, Ceruledge, Iron Valiant and depending on what direction it takes in upcoming games Zeraora. Also because my idea of them in Smash involves them sharing a gimmick but not being echoes it’s possible that they cannibalise each other’s chances of getting into Smash. And if Pokémon is getting two new reps** rather than just one I guarantee it would be Meowscarada and Eevee. The Proto Beasts and Neo Swords just feel like they bring more to the table than at least Meowscarada*** (Eevee has the potential to be very gimmicky I just doubt they’d take advantage of that). Oh yeah there’s also much more interesting stuff you can do with alts if you choose the Proto Beasts and Neo Swords imo but that might just be me putting thought into it (I might have overdone the colour swap idea. Do they really need colour swaps of their regular appearances and shiny colourations? Because that takes up four alt slots per fighter (if I’m colour swapping so for example Leaves looks like Boulder of course I want an alt where I’m colour swapping so Leaves looks like Crown). And I’m not sure if anyone else thinks the “red, orange and gold for Scarlet” and “purple, blue and silver for Violet” ideas are as fun as I seem to think they are. There’s a very large chance that I only chose those for their eighth alt slots because that’s what I think their fusions would look like if they existed)

*The Satellaview games don’t count I decided **I’m using “rep” to mean “fighter” rather than “character” ***The only thing Meowscarada has going for it (other than being best starter) is that it would complete the half Dark starter trio with Greninja and Incineroar. And it’s (currently) the face of the current Gen

I also felt the need to mention the five main Greatwyrms (I know there’s a sixth I just don’t know how to separate him from the group. For anyone who doesn’t know anything about Dragalia Lost (which is probably most people seeing this post) that’s not as exclusionary as it sounds, he genuinely seems to be separate from the group and frequently ignored or just treated differently) from Dragalia Lost who may be the closest I have to completing a “Top 10 most wanted fighters in Smash” list alongside (including) my top 5. They’re unlikely because they’re mobile-exclusive, the game shut down so even people who played it can’t play it anymore and I’m not sure they’re even owned by Nintendo (I think they’re owned by Cygames). Plus only Brunhilda and Midgardsormr feel likely but that’s fine because I can’t see it getting more than two reps anyway (cries in would love for Mercury, Jupiter and Zodiark to join Smash as well)
