Hey just a question, but I have an OC who's intersex and I've realized that giving him gynecomastia probably is not sufficient rep, so I was considering doing some research into larger variations that can cause that among other things. Any recommendations for ones to look into? I was thinking maybe PAIS, but I'm not sure if that would be best.

Honestly, just giving him gynecomastia can be sufficient rep IMO, but researching specific variations to give him based off that is cool as shit also! You could learn what other intersex traits you could toss at him as a result— such as cryptorchidism. which basically just means "balls haven't dropped" /lh

PAIS (or MAIS!) can work, but some other variations you could toss his way could be...

• Aromatase Excess Syndrome (body makes too much of the hormone that turns testosterone into estrogen, so huzzah hyperestrogenism happens)

• Klinefelter Syndrome (XXY chromosomes; you could add more chromies (XXYY) make or him mosaic if you want a different phenotype? i.e. XX/XXY mosaicism, I read a paper that talked about a teenage boy with that layout it was kinda intriguing, though warning it uses DSD and other pathologizing language (link))

• You could give him ovotestes? Which with the above linked ovotestes just sort of Happened but they often do with sex chromosome mosaicism. Since they tend to go hand in hand, like PCOS and CAH seem to do. And people with ovotestes have VEEERY variable bodies, from being typical-appearing female or male, to all range of phenotypes in between and outside of the binary.

Undoubtedly there's probably a whole bunch of other variations that slipped my mind, but these are just some things you can consider! I'd recommend checking out the hyperlinks under my "what is intersex" question in my faq post (first link in my pinned)! It has glossaries of variations you can parse through and see how you feel. If you have any other questions comments whatever related to your OC or not, feel free to throw them at me!

like imagine this scenario for a second: people are making false claims about you that you not only can easily disprove with a simple, uninvasive test, but you've ALREADY DONE said test in the past so you'd just need to ask them to publish the results. you can debunk these claims with the same amount of effort required to push a button.

i'm open to having some sympathy for him if his parents (tried to*) raise him as a girl but like. he's a fucking adult. he took a sex test. he knows who he is now. he's making his own decisions. one of these decisions is choosing to hide who he is.

*idc how misogynistic his parents are in believing "no vagina??? but no penis. no penis = female. because female = non-male.", if they knew he had a male-specific dsd that coloured how they raised and treated him, even if they tried to hide it. the act itself of hiding it from him and trying not to raise him that way makes their treatment of him already inherently different from how they'd raise him if he were actually female.

i cant say i agree with everything youre saying here. theres still a lot of misinformation about this and i cant say a slatz tweet is very satisfying for me given the racist and homophobic things ive seen from her. but, if what you say is true, that this boxer is an intersex male who was assigned female at birth, i think its completely unfair to treat her entirely as a man. the community tends to regard itself as a place for intersex women too, those with this particular dsd were not spared misogyny just because they unknowingly had xy chromosomes. learning they are biologically male with a dsd doesnt mean they have a desire to completely restructure their lives and identity around being men, i think thats kind of insane to expect.

that being said, i think there needs to be a reevaluation of fairness in sports and how intersex people fall into it. what advantages or disadvantages do intersex women carrying a y chromosome have over those that dont? what male charactistics (bone density, for example) still exist in these women? do they pose a danger to other women in their sport? what about other intersex conditions? at what point does it become unfair? unfortunately it could lead to their exclusion, and if that happens will there be another place for them? theres a lot to consider and things will have to change as we learn more. its not really a black and white situation in my opinion.

I commissioned Hika to draw Kuroha and Ene for my chibi icon commission! Hika initially drew the unhinged expression for Kuroha >:D And then changed to the version with the smug smile :]

I asked Hika to keep both expressions for the finalized versions since I loooove both 💞💘

The thick round lines and simple blush and highlights works so well. God they look SO precious!!! And Hika's colour choices are fantastic.

I love the blue~ish tones Hika used for Kuroha's hair and how Hika used yellow and blue for the backgrounds to make the colours pop.

The dark blue BG works well against Ene's more muted blue hair. And I love the ice blue colour Hika chose for Ene's eyes ahhh…

Commission Rambles

KuroEne have some official art refs (official art, merch arts) that can be inconsistent in colours (ex. their headphones) so I also gave some notes and quick edits of official arts.

I sent these arts of Kuroha and Ene as my main refs 🖤💙

I sent more too, but I felt that since I'm commissioning chibis of them, that these arts simplify their designs nicely.

I did a little edit of their concept arts for fun. I mainly did it to get a clearer full body ref of Saeru to make it easier for the artists I'm commissioning

My main focus is on 9/6 and XX/6, basically all related ships (KuroEne, HaruTaka, KonoEne)

Depending on the arts (including merch arts), Kuroha's clothes either get coloured with the same black colour, or with the inner clothes as a darker black.

I prefer when his inner clothes and boots, etc., are a darker black cuz it has more visual contrast against his design. It also differentiates the clothes more to have the outer shirt be a lighter gray black vs. the darker blacks in his hair and inner clothes.

His entire design is in dark colours (black, gray), and the gold in his eyes and facial markings cuts away from that. Yellow is a bright vivid colour.

Though it makes sense in MVs like Outer Science and some official arts/merch why his outer and inner shirts are the same colour to not distract from the mood/atmosphere, and also in pieces/merch that use a limited colour palette

For the FIRST time, I finally get to see that Kuroha art in full and not in crusty quality for once. It's a happy day for me

She is TINY compared to them... Haruka/Konoha/Kuroha is 182 cm (6'0") and Ene is 157 cm (5'2") or 640 px tall... Portable gf. They could put her in their pocket

Interesting that Ene's thigh highs were originally asymmetrical in the concept arts. The finalized design definitely fits her more.

Simplifying Ene's headphones is completely fine with me cuz of the rectangular part on it...

Commissions

Whenever I commission artists, I send a detailed description of the characters' relevant design details, poses and expressions, etc., in the form itself.

Then I attach all necessary art refs in a Google Drive Folder and then send the link to the artist.

Because I know that sending a lot of art refs and a detailed description, just makes things easier for the artists you're commissioning.

My commission request forms tend to look like this

VGen Rambles

VGen's site layout and format are honestly better than Ko-fi's imo

VGen has a REALLY nice UI for commissioning artists... I prefer it over Ko-fi when it comes to commissioning artists.

It shows all your commission requests in an organized format, and it has a really good commission request form, where the artist can send invoices.

VGen lets you upload more files and links as art refs. It's better than Ko-fi's in that it allows you to upload more files and add links. Iirc, I think Ko-fi's has a limit of 5

The artists can DM with their clients on VGen directly, and also leave files in high quality directly on the commission form after completion

There's also a review section, typically the artist leaves a review for the client and the client can give one. I always leave a message for the artist after the commission is done to show my gratitude 🥰

The title is just for a fun, cuz her oc has the same last name as Chikako & I just wanted to have fun with it

So, Kaori is basically the unofficial little sister of Chikako (If DSD is cool with it, it can be an au or something)

I like to think, if Chikako did have a little sister, she'd be EXTREMELY protective of her, especially due to her past with men. Like, a mix of Obanai protective & Tanjiro protective (I was gonna say Sanemi, but she's only really like that with certain men who talk to her. Yes, she tried to gouge out some poor dude's eyes one time like how Sanemi almost did)

Not only that, but they already give me major sun & moon vibes, I love them

In the au where Chikako is a hashira (Probably in the au with Astarte), she'd have a sense of clarity knowing Kaori is a hashira with her, but also wishes she'd leave the corps just for her safety. & considering Kaori is with Kyojuro, she'd constantly rip him a new one saying he's not & will never be good enough for her little sister & only family member she actually likes
