Donald Trump is seeking the ability to deport U.S. citizens and imprison them abroad.

As Laurence Tribe, a Harvard University professor emeritus of constitutional law, points out in this article:

"What that means is that literally any of us, whether we are from Venezuela or were born in the United States, whether we are immigrants or not, whether we are citizens or not, any of us is vulnerable to basically being kidnapped by masked agents of the United States government who don't tell us why they're picking us up, perhaps never to be seen again because we're located somewhere in a dungeon, a prison cell, rotting away, whether it's in El Salvador or anywhere else in the world."

It's important to note that innocent people are already being imprisoned in inhumane conditions without due process, and sometimes deported AGAINST the orders of the courts.

And this behaviour is coming from a president who's talked about locking up his political opponents.

This should be a reminder to everyone who was okay with Trump's behaviour when they thought it would only be directed at people they don't like:

Me, an intellectual: Writing villains of color or queer or disabled villains is an exploration of how society as a whole inherently vilifies people on the basis of being people of color or exhibiting traits that are perceived as "queer" or in line with any disability. By allowing these villains complex morality and human experiences, we dive into the nuances of how societal framing shapes everything, from who's allowed to be "the good guy" to who is allowed redemption to who deserves a happy ending. Even marginalized villains who cause irreparable harm serve as an exploration of the ways that harms committed by marginalized people in real life are held to higher standards of punitive justice, and how marginalized people's errors are inherently seen as "irreparable" because marginalized people are inherently seen as undeserving of second chances and forgiveness. Allowing marginalized people to step into the role of a villain but still be humanized, to cause true, *devastating* harm but still be seen as a complete person is a direct challenge to systemic bigotry in a way that writing "good representation" never could be.

verge and dante go through all of these really drastic things for each other but the real tragedy of their relationship is that i think it can only exist in its present capacity like pov u are a fly on the wall at their first trial normal date and dante says hes heart broken pope francis was a beacon of social tolerance and groundbreaking change for gay catholics and then verge is like you cant be serious and then they eat in silence and then verge doesn't reply to his texts for 3 weeks like it would never work not ever and i am of the opinion that verge is unlikely to survive the events of this story so in that sense i suppose they are fortunate cause they will never have to endure the agony of this but it also kind of makes me laugh like . do we think they could make it through one normal conversation about anything real actually.
