A bow and arrows : It's quiet and its projectiles can be used over and over again - if you're not against plucking it out of your dead target and cleaning it up a bit. It's also good for catching a meal when you're out on a long term mission and your rations are starting to dwindle.
Kusarigama : There are three types of this weapon and all of them can be used to entangle an opponent's spear, sword, or other weapon. It can also be used to immobilize arms or legs. Having an opponent immobilized makes it easier to cast a close range Ninjutsu like Chidori or to strike the opponent down with the sickle end of the weapon. Also it looks cool.

Ninja Wire / Chains : Probably some of the most versatile items on the list. Wire string is light, lengthy and durable, with a variety of useful functions. Xiao couldn't move even though he desperately tried. He struggled against the bindings keeping him here, but his attempts were weak and bore no fruit. The ice cold water engulfing him was a torture in itself. Together with the constant struggle of not gasping for nonexistent air it was agony.
A bit of his blood leaked out of the open wounds that were left behind. The dark blood made a few little darker spots in the nightly dark water at the bottom of the lake. Barbed wire dug into his arms.
He barely remembers how he even got here, tied up to the ground in this freezing cold place. It had something to do with a jester didn't it? His eyes slowly closed. He could just surrender to this freezing feeling. Adepti were more durable than mortals by far, but at some point he would just die, right? Why extend the time here. Something told him he shouldn't, he couldn't, but he didn't know what. It couldn't be that important. He gave up this losing battle without further thoughts. Gasping for air and choking on the water instead. There was no satisfaction of air finally filling his lungs. Just a drowned out sob as he struggled and resisted the bindings again.
A small figure came closer, swimming towards him. He knew her right? She was important.
Blue Bird swam down the water. Her body was telling her this was a bad idea, very loudly. She didn't really care, the only thing in her head was intense worry. Besides losing her friend nothing really bad could happen. As she reached Xiao she took in the situation in a fraction of a second and then she summoned her polearm. With an as fluid as possible motion she cut through the barbed wire Joker had used to bind Xiao to a few rocks here in the depth. She pulled his body close to her with one arm, hoping that her body warmth might help him a bit. Then she starts swimming up again, towards the light, towards where she knows Venti is.
As she breaks through the surface she realizes how much she actually needs air. Close against her she feels Xiao gasping for air too, still choking on some water.
Venti, who she insisted needed to stay up here, takes Xiao from her, out of the water. His expression is filled with worry as he starts running towards their camp, Xiao in his arms.

I had been eyeing the mini cinch. It seemed like a cool little machine and I was looking at a more durable binding option than the plastic comb binding, since the plastic tends to shatter with age. I had it in my shopping cart for months , but didn't buy it. Then I went to a creative reuse center in a different city and found a binding machine. The zutter bind-it-all v2. I was delighted because it was $12 and exactly what I needed... Or so I thought. I started to hunt for the coils, and found a box of coils near it, for $7 . It had no other label, but there were dozens of coils and they were the perfect size for the booklets I would need to bind.

I got home and tested it out and that's how I found out that cinch uses a particular type of coil, with something called a 2:1 pitch. The machine I got uses that same 2:1 coil.

The box of coils? Not a single one fit. They were all 3:1 pitch.

Now I had coils and a machine that did not want to work with each other. As I looked more into it, I realized that the booklets I needed to bind would not work with the bigger 2:1 pitch, the diameter of the binding wire would be too large for the 5-8 page booklets I needed to bind.
I looked for low budget 3:1 machines, but the lower end were maybe at the same range as the cinch, but some could go up to the hundreds or thousands of dollars. Wild. I kept my eye out on FB marketplace and found one that was being sold for $20, and knowing that it wouldn't be top of the line and also knowing it would probably be good enough for my purposes, I got it. I also picked up some 2:1 coils for the bind it alla machine, and plan to bind my child artwork that they want to hold on to.

I spent too long thinking I needed a new planner to help myself prepare mentally for this upcoming gauntlet, and after watching jibun techo videos, realizing I barely use my planners as it is and that we are halfway through the year, I found a solution for my novelty seeking self. I found these study sheets inspired by the Japanese study planners, and used my binding machine to make it.
