#dustin has a big ego too and he doesn't always know when to stop speaking

My third eye suddenly opened and now I'm stuck thinking about a crossover between Stranger Things and Voltron, specifically the parallels between Billy, Max and Lotor

I mean. Just think about it. They had Neil and Zarkon as abusive fathers. Lotor had to kill his own dad, since Zarkon did try to enslave or kill everyone who didn't agree with his species, and all he got that it was for the greater good. No one said anything, not a 'sorry you had to go through that', not a question about his feelings on the matter. Just a 'good job, moving on'.

And Lotor spent so much time trying to be good. Trying to connect with others, trying to be better than his dad. He thought he finally had a place in the world, had people who understood and loved him. Only to get betrayed again and again and no one was even willing to hear him out. Between the pressure and the quintessence, of course he snapped. And they didn't try to save him.

Billy, on the other hand, didn’t try to be good, because he knew there was no point. He knew he was never going to be good enough even though part of him wanted to. He couldn’t keep inside all that hurt and he tried to be more like his dad, he wanted to feel like he has power and not just some weakling, so he took his anger out on others all the time. Of course people didn't like him. Of course they hated him. He was a mean asshole.

So when he died, I wonder what the others told Max. I wonder if Max got the same treatment Lotor did about Zarkon's death, because Billy was mean and killed people (possessed or not) even if he did die a heroic death, I wonder if she had to hear things like 'it's for the better', 'he deserved it'.

And it hurts to think about that Max saw Billy as he was, late or not, that Max was willing to be there for him, while Lotor didn't have a Max. He should have had people to care for him and hear him out, he thought he did, but well. There are no happy endings for them.

Anyway, henderhop superhero/reporter headcanons

Dustin seeing superhero!Eleven beating up villain’s ass, screaming “awesome”, taking photos of the moment (and her)

generally, Dustin being Eleven’s biggest fan

One day he gets to write an article about her latest fight, where she defeated Demogorgon, her biggest enemy

that's when he starts being more recognizable, and thus, being able to somehow contact Eleven to ask her for an interview. She agrees!

(how could she not to? She remembers him; she sees him every time she fights, taking photos, screaming encouragements at her, she can recognize him from a distance now, especially his cute cap)

at the interview, Dustin tries to be professional, asking big questions, trying not to fangirl on her

alas Dustin breaks, when Eleven said that she remembers him. He blushes like crazy, little shy, little proud, as he starts babbling and even asking for autograph 

El doesn't mind him behaving a little unprofessional, she finds it cute and she liked idea of getting to know him a little bit more

they have moment when it's just pure interview, but also moments when they just talk freely, as he makes her laugh, genuinely laugh

It makes Dustin blush. so.hard. He thinks that Eleven’s laugh sounds so cute and soft and not as if she can beat the shit out of any villains she comes across (and he loves her both sides so much)

after that, Dustin’s goal is to make Eleven laughs as many times as he can, his goal of getting certain answers momentarily forgotten

and he accomplishes his goal! She doesn't always laugh, but it's enough for his ego and for him to stay in good spirits It seems she really gets his humor, even better than his best friends at times, he thinks

They both are having the time of their life (even if Dustin wouldn’t believe her if she told him so)

but then they hear a clicking sound. It’s Eleven’s gadget. It’s time for her to go.

They are both sad. Time flew fast, really fast.

Dustin wants to end this like a profession and just offers her his hand

but Eleven ignores it, and wraps her arms around his chest, pulling him into a quick but tight hug

Dustin.exe stopped working

He doesn't understand it, and El won't explain it, but it's her way of thanking him. She had a bad time recently, and she was too hard on herself too. Speaking that freely with him, laughing, having fun... It made her relax, and stop for a second, enjoy her time, that moment. It made her realize that good things can happen too. She couldn't tell him that, but she wanted to thank him somehow. Thus, little awkward hug.

Eleven pulls away, searches his face as her eyes are full of gratitude, they lock eyes, she smiles at him one last time, and turns away, running from the place

and now, Dustin realizes, he has fallen for her even harder

He had a crush on her before yes, but it was more of an impossible crush on someone who is just awesome but unreachable and he doesn't even know them

now though... now he saw her from so close, hugged her, heard her laugh and saw her just being herself, and... he likes that side of her too.

and later, in his bed, he realizes that he have fallen not only for superhero, but also for a normal girl who is behind that mask

and as he hides his face in his hands from horror of the realisation, he thinks: “Shit, I’m done for”
