just like how episode 4 sold me on the show's version of mensah and pin-lee's dynamic, episode 6 sold me on murderbot and mensah's

as with the show's angle on mensah & pin-lee, mensah & murderbot have a different feel from the books (from my vantage point (as someone who rereads every passage where they interact on a disturbingly frequent basis, lol))

so in the books, we never see mensah cross murderbot's boundaries as much as tv mensah does, and she never judges or insults its interests as she does in e6. she's generally gentler and more attuned to it. even early in all systems red, their dynamic feels mutually respectful, which for me as a reader and fic writer is hugely appealing (i'm not into snark/interpersonal meanness, so between that and the trust and devotion, they are very id-scratchy for me). yet the show's angle on mensah and murderbot's developing friendship is working for me as well. in my mind, it runs parallel to the version of the dynamic we see in the books.

in e6 especially, their rapport is lovely, and it's clear we're in a story where she regards it as a person and it feels seen and respected by her and cares about her in turn. so even though the shape of their dynamic is different and feels less gentle compared to the books, it's nice to see this version. the early scenes in e6 especially felt like really good au fanfiction. it was fun to see them in that predicament and see how much more comfortable they are with each other. seeing mensah realize how much sanctuary moon means to it and why, how meaningful it is for murderbot to share it with her and try to soothe her as it would itself (and it working!), and the growing mutual respect and fondness between them was really special.

the lack of jack and claire interactions is genuinely such a travesty, and not just because 1, they’re both cas / tfw’s kids and 2, because i love them both dearly, but because THEY DIRECTLY PARALLEL SAM AND DEAN!!!

claire is driven by parental grief and revenge, she holds grudges, is stubborn and quick to anger, is queer and searches for purpose and drive through hunting, finding comfort in violence but also having self-destructive tendencies.

jack has powers literally no one else has, he’s important to lucifer, and angels and demons in general. he’s a kind and well-meaning person with the potential for great evil, and is misunderstood and mistreated because of what he is / what he can do.

he’s also young and naive, juxtaposed with claire who is also young and naive but has a lot of harrowing and character-building life experience. she’s a character often made into the daughter, or the younger sister - here, she could so easily be a big sister, the dean to jack’s sam, which would be a great way to develop her character and show her growing into adulthood.

i would’ve KILLED for a bottle episode of jack and claire going on their own journey in baby (or any car, but yk, for the vibes), perhaps to save the boys / cas, where these parallels were explored. maybe an almost play by play reenactment of the pilot, where they need to “find their dad” in a similar way. considering all the different characters they used to comment on sam and dean’s relationship, i could SO easily see this being a s13-14 episode, literally grieving the fact that it never happened because AAAH IT’S SO PERFECT

I love when Mario gets to be tired and cranky and complain about shit. Mario Sunshine voice lines my beloved that man is so exhausted and so over it he just wanted to take a vacation. I like when Mario goes "That's a horrible idea. I'm not doing that." <--- [The guy that goes through with horrible and dangerous ideas all the time]. I like when Mario doesn't want to do something. I like when he says no. I like when he is a little mean and makes mean spirited jokes about eating an egg that clearly has a baby inside it and robbing people. I like when Mario keeps getting cursed by chests and eventually is just so over it that he's a sassy asshole the entire time about it.

Thinking about the switch for Elita Prime and Arachnus Prime, I'm thinking about 2 main things.

One, Elita's ability to temporarily borrow another's ability and science background means she'll lean more ways to problem solve with those skills which would be fun to imagine! Like keeping Blitzwing back with his own ice, a dramatic parry against Megatron with his own swords, etc!

Two, Love! Triangle! DISASTER! Arachnus Prime caught in the middle of Elita and Megatron wanting to tug him to their respective sides eheheheh >:3

I think that there's a generally fun dynamic here, especially if you pull from canon and separate Arachnus from the main decepticons a little here, which gives fun hope for Elita about bringing him back to the autobots

? no i am currently in the midst of writing a whole villain au centered around the idea of them making each other worse. they're just not my favorite dynamic and i find it genuinely frustrating how other relationships get undermined in favor of them, sometimes in ways that are directly contradictory to the way canon sets them up

and honestly i think the idea of them having some kind of "special twin bond" almost feels insulting to raph and mikey because sometimes people really write like they dont care about them at all. do mikey and donnie constantly being paired off to vibe when all the plot things happen mean nothing to you ...... DO THEY MEAN NOTHING TO U.............

i was watching the my little pony episode where they parody murder on the orient express (MMMystery On the Friendship Express hooray) and in it they also parody sherlock holmes and watson using pinkie pie and twilight and it was honestly such a funny episode.

and then it got me thinking that yk what ever after high also deserved a silly little mystery solving episode/special whatever and they should've played it with the same watson and holmes dynamic using either maddie and raven or maddie and apple because I'm not sure which one would be funnier.

and it would be even better if throughout the entire investigation, it seems like maddie's talking complete nonsense and asking irrelevant questions and generally having no idea about what she's doing BUT at the end she pulls a scooby doo and casually solves the mystery and further elaborates on the seemingly inconsequential trail of ridiculous clues she's found that helped her solve the case.

bonus points if the clues are actually completely irrelevant to the actual crime or mystery but either by sheer coincidence or maddie's innate eldritch powers they somehow manage to line up perfectly with the case and become the perfect trail of breadcrumbs to find the culprit.

i think it's also funny if there were a running gag of the narrators trying their absolute hardest to not give any hints to maddie or to not slip up and accidentally spoil the mystery, and at the end after the big reveal, they're just as horrified and shocked as everyone else after maddie reveals her logic behind how she solved the mystery because that is definitely NOT what they expected would happen.

Mayhem has been around a LONG time. As a physical manifestation of Disorder, he's a neutral party who pops in and out of universes and brings chaos to them. Shifting the balance of order is his job.

Mayhem is one of many many physical manifestations of Disorder, but all other manifestations have passed. It's heavily suspected that Mayhem killed them all. The reason for it is unknown.

Mayhem outside of doing his job is actually funnily enough a very calm person. But only outside of it.

Mayhem and Gaze have known each other a long long time as well. They get on each other's nerves. Mayhem often finds himself wondering what Cord sees in that guy.

He finds himself getting along most with the "bad sanses" aka Nightmare's bunch. He finds them entertaining.. something akin to care is blossoming within him but he doesn't wanna admit that.

Mayhem's powers consist of:

Hallucikinesis: distorting people's view on reality and making them believe something is wrong when it's not or vice versa.

Damage displacement: when afflicting pain on somebody, Mayhem has the ability to make them feel that pain elsewhere or through the entire body.

Astral Projection: taking somebody's consciousness and making them go through a false reality. ( Bro usually lives in this portal dimension btw )

Intangibility: he can walk through walls. He likes to do that sometimes. Makes him feel funny.

He can also turn his head 270 degrees like an owl.

He technically can create clones of himself but he hates doing that so unless something happens it's really truly a last resort.

Nightmare and Mayhem:

Mayhem and Nightmare met while Nightmare and his gang were out to destroy a seemingly peaceful au. However Mayhem had been there first. The people were going insane, riots happening left and right, people killing each other all the while a sole entity was sat on a tree stump observing with a freakish smile. By all accounts this au was supposed to be incredibly docile and tranquil, yet they were standing amidst endless bloodshed. It had captivated Nightmare... The amount of negativity derived from pure nothingness.

Nightmare has repeatedly offered Mayhem to join him, however Mayhem has refused every time. To wreak havoc on the balance, he must remain a neutral party member.

However Mayhem has visited Nightmare often since their encounter. Mayhem finds he has a fascination for Nightmare. A fascination that he hasn't felt in a long long time.

He has developed a care for Nightmare and his bunch. A feeling he thought he'd long since forgotten. He used to poke fun at Gaze for finding love in the fleeting things, yet here he was.

He finds himself cooking and baking with Horror, learning about food and sustenance.

He finds himself helping people like Killer and Dust by simply lending an ear or helping them calm down through conversation.

He finds himself giving advice to Cross on how to read others and their stances while fighting.

And he finds himself maybe even a little in Love with a certain someone. ^^

Yk I haven’t really seen anyone discuss caitlyn’s relationships with the men in her life and I feel like they’re just as important to her character as her relationships with the women in her life

Men like her father, Jayce, Marcus etc.

There’s not many men in her life but the few that are involved impact her in such an interesting way

I am rotating Arthur Lester inside my head so fast.

In Part 31 Arthur admits to not love Bella, describing their relationship as wrong.

We know Bella is a religious woman, her dad is a Freemason after all. In fiction, religion is often linked to purity, absolution and unconditional love and acceptance. Hence, we can deduce that Arthur saw Bella’s love as boundless, forgiving, pure and absolute in his regards… And he felt deep down that it was wrong, that he didn’t deserve it and shouldn’t have even been offered it in the first place.

However, if we go back to Part 28, we have this scene:

Where we find that Arthur is fully ready to accept (dying and) a whole eternity of torture and damnation in the Dark World, as long as his (one and only) friend will meet him there.

It’s insane that he cannot conceive of someone genuinely and unconditionally loving him, but is certain that the only form of affection he deserves must be woven in punishment or suffering.

I think it makes everything about him slowly learning to accept Oscar (a clergyman)’s friendship a whole lot more significant… and makes it a whole lot more painful how he presented it as an offering for the King in Yellow to take away and erase from his memories in Part 40.
