Eclipse phase is the greatest rpg ever made because it dares to ask the hard questions. Touches on real biting topics like “what if the economy was based on Reddit karma and you could upvote people in real life” or “what if we had an anarchist surveillance state”

Some context!

A Light Touch of Cold Steel: A story set in Warhammer 40k, within the events of the video game Darktide. The main character, Ash, is a loose cannon veteran transgirl. She's joined by Jeanne the NB Judge Zealot, Taz the Bodyguard Ogryn, and Paige the Seer Psyker transgirl. It is a wartime BDSM focused romance between Ash and Hadron, with a lot of violence between scenes of comfort.

What I currently have: 6K words. The introduction chapter, which gives us all of the main characters, and sets up the romance between Hadron and Ash, and the tense feeling of fear and lust Ash feels for the cold steel of Hadron. It's on AO3

Goal: Get a part 2 down. I intend to ignore Hadron in this part, focusing on the teams relationship and how they keep each other sane.

Scion of Lightning: Another old original work that I never got very far in, but which I've thought about often. A story about a girl who was born with a touch of lightning in her. It's meant as coding for ADHD with some magic, but when I originally wrote it, it definitely had a not-so-small amount of "And then she hurt everyone when she lost control" that needs to be... well, more intentional and addressed properly.

What I have: Nothing that isn't going to be reworked

Goal: Outline what I actually want from the story

Growing the Hive: A transwoman martian salvager in space picks up a long haul transport that set off it's emergency broadcast. But when she gets there, she doesn't find anyone or anything, except one little bot. She thinks there is nothing on it, but after she connects, she begins to change mentally, and have mental breakdowns. She's joined by a catty anarchist diplomat and a techwiz hacker boything, who try their best to keep their little polycule solvent as they each handle their own responsibilities together.

What I have: 27K words, and 4 chapters. It's on AO3

Goal: Get another scene further in chapter 5

Tag - Growing the Hive

Necromechtic: A relatively new idea I've had, after chatting with @en-bitch a while ago that's stuck around in my head a little more than the rest of the Mech Brainrot. The story will deal with a necromancer witch, her magitech mech artificer girlfriend who was arrested by the state, and The Pilot, an undead who is the POV character who has no memories besides what it takes to fight and pilot a mech. The witch makes and powers the Mech, operating as the power core to the machine, while the pilot controls its movements and weaponry. It'll deal with polyamory, what it means to own and be owned. As I've gotten further into it, it's also dealing with being a living weapon, hatred, and finding purpose for one self.

What I have: 3.5K words. Part 1 and 2, posted on AO3.

Goal: Part 3! Maybe 4!

Enemy Handler: A short-form smut. In it, a butch handler captured a pilot. It's smut :)

What I have: 2.5K words.

Goal: Part 2, and finish the story with some hurt / comfort.

Mold Maid Castle: A short form force femme story, created in response to @ashes2caches 's post about Abandoned Castles just growing maids like mold, and annointing whoever wanders in as the princess, regardless of whether they are femme or not.

What I have: 3K words. Also, a floor plan and map...?

Goal: Part 2. Setting up a core mystery to last a couple more parts. Increasing Princess Responsibilities, and addressing the forcefemme as something that is quite a bit more willing than that would imply.

Tag - Mold Maids

Command Prompt: A short emotionally fraught story of a pilot who witnessed her handler die and had a mental breakdown.

What I have: 772 words. (That's... it? Thought that was longer)

Goal: Part 2. Actually retiring this girl, and throwing her out of the military. We're putting this pilot through some more hurt, so we can get to some comfort when someone picks her up off the street.

Tag - None, Mechsploitation

Tanya Suraya: My FF14 OC character! She's a monster, a living weapon, just like every other Warrior of Light. Except, where they are loved, and protected, Tanya is considered to be terrifying. The scions do not trust her. They do not like her.... but they will use it.

What I have: 1.6K words

Goal: Part 3! Introduce her to more scions, get her working with the scions for the first time, set up some relationships, and their horror with her, and the ways they have to fight their instincts, because they need her.

Tag - Tanya Suraya, FF14 WOL

Dangerous Sample: Multiversal Time Travel story about a genetically engineered pirate captain who has to learn about saving the multiverse, found family, and trusting again after having been betrayed.

What I currently have: Some random lines and passages from throughout the story that act as milestones for important plot points, or something I thought sounded witty.

Goal: Get the start of the story down properly

Dark Wizardess: An old original work of mine that needs updated. A story about a chuunibyou peasant witch who attempts to assassinate the princess. She fails, and the princess imprisons her, then decides to use her to help save the country from her incompetent father, who has been ruling the country with an iron fist. They're also lesbians :)

For no particular reason but recently I have been thinking about that one part in Eclipse Phase first edition where someone complains about not being able to indulge in psychologically torturing a copy of someone's consciousness at the ancom war refugee space barge commune and accuses them of being the 'Real Fascist' before getting kicked out.

I remember that being silly when I first read it more then 10+ years but now that seemed almost precognisant.

anyway instead of cleanly uploading your mind to some boring humandriod no-bitches-getting-robo detroit: stay virgin android body they have some german-mine-digging-autoshovel looking machine scoop your brain out and shove it into the body of a 5d robospider, or toss it into a blender (don’t worry it’ll be fine) and then pour the brain smoothie into a bunch of nanomachines one at a time using a tiny microscopic ladle.

basically instead of dealing with the existential dilemma of whether robot!you is actually real!you or just an ai brainwashed into believing it’s you they sidestep the whole question altogether by becoming 300 ft tall giant deathmechs made of jagged spiked metal that are technically cyborgs because there’s a human brain innit

also the robot putting your brain smoothie into the nanobots holds the tiny ladle delicately in its massive earth ripping claws. like a norse giant tying a little pink bow onto his chihuahua puppy.

also if you ask nicely you can have your own preserved skeleton put in the cockpit of your giant mech body and wired up so it looks like it's piloting you.
