Prompt #25: Wish

So what would make him happy? 

It wasn't really a question that the Ishgardian gave much thought; the necessities of simply living, the realities of his existence, the duty he had bound himself to, all of these made such a question remote, a pipe dream. Worse, it brought about regret--for the road untraveled, for desires unfulfilled--and he had quite enough of that already, thank you. Better to not dwell on it, to focus on what needed to be done, for there was always some problem or other to focus his mind on, and when that failed there were distractions in books, in sports, in botany, in booze, in drugs.

And yet… and yet, the words of a certain miqo'te continue to nag at the back of his mind, like a burr in his boot.

What would make him happy?

Idristan pauses, his lips pursed in thought as he looks down at his hand, at the rosary that he had been absently wrapping around it. That question had been so easy to answer, once. Back when things were simple, back when he could genuinely say that he wanted to carry out the Fury's will. Back before he had seen how things actually worked. Now, though…

His eyes wander over towards the window, towards the evening sky. The first hint of stars were starting to appear in the sky, and they bring with them thoughts of walking hand in hand with a figure as dark as the night as unfamiliar stars twinkle and dance them, a private display for them and them alone. 

These morph, twist, change, until it is a different figure that he stands with, one with a sly grin and bright, gleaming eyes, one that beckons, draws him closer to the edge of the building they stand on, until the two of them leap, together, laughter filling the air as they delight in the thrill of defying gravity itself.

The same kind of thrill, of delight in living, that he saw in her eyes as the two danced, a wild tango that grew to a near frantic pace. And yet neither faltered, their steps and motions and even breaths so matched that one might think them one. And yet each drives the other, daring, daring to see how far they could go and not break the bond between them…

Idristan exhales a heavy sigh, fingers unwinding the rosary. Oh yes, he knew what would make him happy. Seeing them, his people, happy, without the threat of being drowned by Ink or charred by Flame. Knowing they were safe.

The rosary slips from his fingers, the glass beads clattering lightly against the wooden table. Rather than pick it up, he turns away, leaving it there. At this point, he rather doubted that the Fury was going to be much help. She wasn’t in the business of granting wishes, after all.

So he'd just have to make his own happiness instead.

hi how do you feel like when making your art or edits? do you feel like one is more rewarding than the other?

hi nonny! 

hmm ‘rewarding’? you mean the notes i get? well i guess, there are fandoms more famous and bigger than others -if i make a drawing about GoT, there are definitely more chances to get attention or notes, than a drawing about… The Godfather for example. but i don’t care tbh, i make edits & art about what i like —sure, it is pleasing to have attention and people liking what i make. But really, if i get 0 note, it won’t stop me :)

but if you mean ‘rewarding’ in a personal sense -it’s true there are gifs/arts that i love more. it is totally personal and biased i guess... particularly about the drawings. i don’t know why, but some pieces are more satisfying than others -maybe because they are more faithful to the idea i had in my mind and when the result is what i expected, i’m like “great job Solenne! you did good this time!” lol

Idristan’s main theme has changed a bit recently; while Moonlight is still very relevant and a favorite, I think Wake Me When It’s Over captures him better now. That struggle, of the hunter who is afraid that is turning into one of the hunted, works very, very well for him, and why I like a lot of Bloodborne music for him in general. Overall, it, Moonlight, and Unravel probably capture him best.

For a battle theme I’m going with A Duel For Blood (which honestly took forever for me to find before I thought to look into Bloodborne stuff). It has just the right amount of gothic grandeur and melancholy in it, a sense that the battle must be fought, even if perhaps it is not what one wishes.

Have Faith is based off the game Faith, and it very much fits. Idris’ has been fueled for a long time by his devotion to Halone, though lately he’s been having a harder time clinging to it.

Under Grey Skies is more of a Idristan and Solenne song, but I’m including it. Because I can. Pretty much everything after that is more instrumental/atmospheric stuff.
