Igneon - The Burnt Pokemon

Evolves via falling in lava

As an apology for forgetting to queue stuff, figured may as well post another!

This one is admittedly more of a joke/noncanon one, spawned by the fact I did want to cover side game evolutions. And well… in the original Pokemon Snap, there’s quite a few strange ways you can cause evolutions! Like, for example, knocking a Charmeleon into a pit of lava to get a Charizard.

So thought it’d be fun to make an evolution for that! I do think the design turned out really good too, I had a really clear idea for it and I like how I rendered the fire.

Anyway, this learns Lava Plume upon evolution! A bit strong for an upon evolution move, but I think it fits considering the method.

Art Summary of 2022!

Made this the other day, forgot to actually post it. Anyway, I’m unsure if I improved anymore this year compared to others, but I do think it says something that for quite a few months I had trouble picking which piece I wanted to use due to having multiple that month I liked!

Chloreon - The Photosynthesis Pokemon

Evolves via Sun Shard

I forgot to queue these, sorry for the delay orz

Anyway! For the aspect of the sun I wanted to cover for the Sun Shard, I went with the how it interacts with plants! So went with a sunflower design for it.

Not much more to say on it really! It learns Synthesis upon evolution.

Mecheon - The Robotic Pokemon

Evolves via trade while holding Upgrade

Forgot to queue this one again, but caught it quicker so only a day late this time! Perhaps I will just change it to Sunday uploads.

Not much to say about this one, making at least one robot felt like a given! Honestly, had more trouble figuring out which item I thought felt best for it - it was between the Upgrade and Metal Coat. Decided the Upgrade had more robot vibes though!

Learns Charge Beam upon evolution.

Torreon - The Tidal Force Pokemon

Evolves via Moon Shard

Apologies for delay, forgot to finish up the post and schedule it!

Anyway, this is yet another of the many sun/moon related evolutions, using the Moon Shard from the Colosseum games. Will note I didn’t really factor much regarding the idea of these guys being Orre specific into this, so apologies if you were hoping for that.

Anyway, since a lot of the sun/moon evos are going to be pairs, I decided for the shards to make them not tied to each other and instead focus on unique aspects of the sun and moon respectively. For the moon, I chose to focus on the tide and how the moon affects it!

As for the sun? You’ll see next week!

Parreon - The Repeat Pokemon

Evolves via level up while knowing Mimic

Not really much to say for this one, doing a parrot theme for the Mimic evolution was kind of an obvious choice!

I did debate it being pure Flying and it’s hidden ability being Protean instead, so it’d get type advantage for whatever move it copies, but ultimately I felt like emphasizing the copying moves themselves with Prankster worked better (since pretty much every copy move is effected by it!).

Anyway, it learns Mirror Move upon evolution!

Soleon & Luneon

The Sunbeam Pokemon & The Moonbeam Pokemon

An Eeveelution that evolves via listening to a melody at the Altar of The Sunne and an Eeveelution that evolves via listening to a melody at the Altar of The Moone

Alright, these are fun ones! Will note in case of confusion - this is based off how Cosmoem is shown to evolve in cutscenes and the games.

I initially was gonna list it as just Sun Flute and Moon Flute - but I realized that wasn’t really accurate. Both are played at the Altars, and in the anime the flutes aren’t even involved at all! It seems to be a particular melody being played by the flutes or sung by the Tapus, either work as a way to complete the ritual.

ANYWAY, all that said, these guys are meant to be designed off the idea of being disciples of Lunala and Solgaleo! A somewhat funny thing is that these aren’t my original concepts for these, but back before I decided to actually do this project I ended up giving those original designs away. Oops.

Ah well, I do actually think these probably work better for the concept anyway. Still kinda funny though.

Sovereon - The Matriarch Pokemon

Evolves via Dawn Stone (when Female)

It’s been a while! But I decided to start working on these again. Right now I have about 7 posts in the queue, so hopefully it will be a while before this blog goes silent again.

Anyway! Due to the fact that Dawn Stones typically only work on rare genders, it’s lucky that Eevee does have an uneven gender ratio and I don’t have to figure out how to work around it.

As for the inspiration, I vaguely considered using bees but decided that since Eevee is cat-dog thing, it’d only make sense to base the evolution on a real-life matriarchal cat-dog thing: hyenas!

Anyway, it learns Noble Roar upon evolution.

Scuffeon - The Skirmish Pokemon

Evolves via level up while knowing Double Hit

This is probably one of my favorites so far in that I think it’s design really feels like it could be the real Fighting type evolution. Of course, if it was it’d probably evolve differently, but still…

Anyway, not too much to say about it! I made the ears be boxer glove like and tried to give it some sports tape/bandage like markings. Green shiny was purely just because I try to use green when I think it’ll be actually aesthetically pleasing, since green shinies are pretty disliked and I want to make nice ones when I can.

Ostreon - The Mollusk Pokemon

Evolves via a Shellder biting an Eevee’s tail

It’s been a while! This was the evolution I initially planned for April Fools, before motivation kinda slipped away… More on that later though!

So the evolution method for this one is a bit odd, but I thought it’d be fun to include semi-canonical evolutions. Like, Slowpoke doesn’t actually evolve like this in the main games, but according to the Pokedex it does (and it also is shown happening in Pokemon Snap).

Anyway, as for the motivation slump, I’m working through it! I’ve been making a lot of creature designs for an original project, so I’m back in my design-making groove. Eeveelutions are a fun break from the other stuff since the general body shape is already set. I already have a bit of a queue, so it will hopefully be a while before the next hiatus!

Frosteon - The Snow Flurry Pokemon

Evolves via exposure to an Ice Stone

Had some trouble figuring out what I wanted to do with this one, but ended up going with snow leopards and arctic foxes as inspiration.

I decided I wanted to contrast Glaceon which embodies the sharp and elegant features of ice, and instead go the route of soft and fluffy snow.

Not much else to say about this one! It learns Ice Fang upon evolution.

Cremeon - The Swirl Pokemon

Evolves via trade while holding the Whipped Dream

The biggest roadblock with this one was just figuring out how to design another sweets based evolution that wasn’t too similar to Sucreon. I decided to go a whipped cream and a light cinnamon roll theme though!

Figuring out abilities was a bit hard, cause I didn’t really want to use Sweet Veil since it’s such a generic dessert pokemon ability. Decided to go with Gluttony cause it fit the lore, but Pastel Veil was another consideration!

Learns Natural Gift upon evolution.

Drageon - The Drake Pokemon

Evolves via trade while holding a Dragon Scale

Not really too much to say about this one! I did design it with the idea of it being just a dragon-type eeveelution in mind. So it’s a bit simple.

I did want to try out doing a bit more of a dynamic pose since having them just stand or sit is a bit boring. Since I’m still getting used to the style, I referenced an Umbreon figure to figure out how the pose should look!

Anyway, they’d learn Dragon Rage upon evolution.

Chanceon - The Lucky Pokemon

An Eeveelution that evolves via landing 3 critical hits in a battle.

This was the first one I created! It’s based off four leaf clovers and rabbits, while the shiny version is based off black cats.

I imagine they’d learn Lucky Chant upon evolution!
