1. Are you named after anyone?

Yes, my grandfather, Shlomo.  

2. When was the last time you cried?

I just watched Song of the Sea on Netflix.  My niece’s favorite movie.  It’s beautiful.  So beautiful.  Cried through the whole thing.

3. Do you have any kids? 

Nope.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

No, never.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

If they have a warm smile.

6. What’s your eye color?

Hazel.

7. Scary movie or happy ending?

Happy endings, all day, every day.

Remembering useless shit.

In the valley, dude.

Cooking, writing, water coloring, anything nerdy tbh.

Sadly, no.  I just admire other people’s pets.

I played softball and tennis.  I was good at neither, but of the two, I enjoyed tennis more.  Softball I was still young and afraid of the ball.

Art history

I highly recommend downloading the Insight Timer app (completely free and safe) and doing some guided mindfulness and acceptance meditations, even short ones. Once you have a grasp of mindfulness, it can be used to ease anxiety in almost any situation on the fly. I recommend the ones by Tara Brach, they've helped me a lot. ACT or CBT are also great therapies for anxiety. I hope you feel some relief soon.

I’m not certain that meditation would be particularly useful for me, though.

I have an uncommon condition which prevents me from being able to visualize thoughts or memories in my head (aphantasia) and that seems to be important for meditation.

I can do deep breathing and think of something relaxing, but I can’t actually picture anything I’m thinking about directly.

I find deep breathing and thinking of calming things can help sometimes, but I don’t know if that really qualifies as meditation in the conventional sense.

1) What’s something you love that a lot of other people hate?

I love the Joe Wright/Keira Knightley 2005 movie of Pride and Prejudice.  I think it’s lovely.  The score is lush and sweeping.  Donald Sutherland’s Mr. Bennet reminds me of the gentle, quiet kindness of my dad.  I think Claudie Blakley (Charlotte Lucas) is one of Britain’s most underrated actresses, and the scene where she explains to Lizzie why she must accept a proposal from a man she doesn’t love is heartbreaking.  I also love that Lizzie is shown to be emotionally affected by her own refusal of Darcy’s first proposal.  

This version of the story is so deeply human, and so deeply female.  Joe dispenses with the formality of manners, or at least pulls the curtain back on them, letting the characters come to life in a way that is more relate-able to people now.  It is an excellent modernization of the story Jane was trying to tell about women.

So yeah.  That’s what I’m going with!
