Erikar Week 2024, Day 1: Vacation

ERIDAN: Nice horns, Kar, where'd you get them? KARKAT: We are in public, you absolute fucking numbpan.

I know someone has already submitted a cruise ship art for @erikar-week, but here is my interpretation of the prompt - featuring my bloodswap AU, Seapunkification! :D

In which the opportunistic rebel and last surviving limeblood, Eridan Vantas, blackmails the closeted mutant, Karkat Ampora, into taking him on a fancy cruise ship holiday. It gets more romantic from there.

I had a crabsolutely fintastic time making this :D

Karkat's top is inspired by a fancy beskap (a traditional garb from Java, Indonesia). Eridan's is a modified version of my older art (see my #seapunkification tag). Seapunk!Eridan has Kanaya as a best friend and took up sewing, so he's always on top of his fashion aspirations ;) (Seapunk!Eridan pretends to be an oliveblood, if that wasn't clear.)

Seapunk!Karkat, like the canon one, doesn't really have a sense of fashion (he'd rather wear a single all-covering swimsuit or a t-shirt and sweatpants), but he had to act (and dress) like a normal violetblood in this cruise ship full of highbloods - not just for his own safety, but for Eridan's, too.
