I just grabbed my long-unused Twitter login to take a look and I don't think it can be a mechanical turk.

There are responses like this where the speed just wouldn't be possible for a human to be in the loop:

The text replies are slower - 2-3 minutes rather than the 30 seconds for the image - but even then it seems more plausible that it's genuine AI rather than a mechanical turk.

I think there's a selection effect in what appears on tumblr. Grok is mostly coherent but the actually funny stuff is rare.

idk if elon will kill his new chatbot grok when he finds out its woke, but he'll definitely kill it once he discovers it's funnier than him
