Tgb theory (Glorious Rivals spoilers):

This is VERY far-fetched, but what if the cult operates like a legal system, with a rule-maker, a rule-teller, and a rule-enforcer? The Watcher, the Judge, and the Hand. The Watcher issues warnings through the calla lilies, which could symbolize laws or the beginning of judgment. Then comes the Judge, who interprets the behavior of others and decides whether someone has broken "the rules" (assuming it's a step-by-step process). Then there's the Hand (referred to as the Omega), which is often associated with endings and represented by Alice, who might be the one to carry out the final punishment, like killing with her poison. She was present when Thomas died and also encountered Hannah (I know Hannah died many years after meeting Alice, but I'm still mentioning this). Lyra believes Thomas committed suicide so Alice wouldn’t get to him first, and that would make her the Hand. If the process starts with the Watcher observing and ends with the Hand taking action, then we’re likely in phase two now, since Calla said “the time for watching is done.” That could mean the Judge is about to pass judgment, and Alice is getting ready to act, whatever that act ends up being. Odette said something big is about to happen. I don’t know for sure, but it’s honestly terrifying.

No. Because Eve can’t (she can with maximum therapy. But people will get angry with me if I say thst) be redeemed. I’ve been rereading and I hate her so much. (I don't) Like, she’s just not it. But the worst part? I got emotional reading what happened to her—for the longest time. And honestly? I would gut her brother. Her sister. Her parents. I get why Miss Girl turned out the way she did, but still. I just want her to find herself. Actually find herself.

hold up. what if it wasn't a reference to avery though. "it had to be," implies that it might not be a reference to avery. what if it was a reference to alice? what if eve has or had been under alice's mercy, what if eve had always known that alice was alive?

i don't know this might be far fetched or whatever but I thought it seemed at least a little suspicious (this quote is from grayson and eve's encounter in the brothers hawthorne, in the pool)

is this a safe place to say that i liked eve at first and it was hard for me to hate her because my curiosity (and love) towards characters like her is stronger than my hatred. im probably the least empathetic person ever, but i love picking out things about book antagonists/mean people/opposing side ESPECIALLY if they're teenagers (lia zhang, adam kent, taryn duarte, kuwei yul bo) because i see no reason to hate them as much as one would hate a criminal (z@de meadows).

Guys I’m 79% into Glorious Rivals and I feel like I’m getting whiplash trying to keep up with everything. Also, would anyone get mad if I said I’m starting to like Eve?? I’m also surprised with how fast paced this book is going because by the looks of it we’re gonna see the winner by the end? I thought it’d be in The Gilded Blade haha

My opinions on Gigi and Slate...+ Some Eve

Okay, so I actually LOVED THEM much more than I did at first. (This was waaay longer than expected...srry)

Know, I've seen many say they still do care for them, but personally I loved how JLB wrote it out in a more realistic way.

What I mean by this is Gigi wasn't just head over heels for him or anything like that. Her focus was still extremely on escaping and getting away even though she had an interest in him. And she even tells him, "I hate you"(I know she doesn't mean it) and teases him.

Then Slate, it just wouldn't make sense for them to be all lovey dovey and romantic in just one day, I mean...Gigi literally calls him a rock and tangerine, he doesn't let himself show emotions. Plus, he kidnapped her, then they were kidnapped together with Eve - I don't think that's a good setting for a romantic relationship to grow...

But! It's obvious there's something there for both of them. Slate obviously cares for her, you can definitely tell more when they were with Eve, it's subtle, but there, a spme examples:

✿ He tells Gigi his full name+ the meaning being his sheath (Which Eve seemed very surprised by, so I'm guessing it's not usual)

✿ He literally tells Gigi assumption about him and Eve was false, when he didn't at first

✿You can tell he showed more human emotions around Gigi, it was very slight, but even Eve pointed it out

✿ His eyes always looked at her first despite his job being to protect Eve

✿ Before they were kidnapped he went to look for Gigi rather than staying at Eves side

Eve noticed the chance in Slate towards Gigi and it was clear she was not happy about it and wants to keep Slate solely 'hers', I find her relationship with Slate interesting and want to know more

THEN AT THE END. He literally tells her she didn't have to prove herself to anyone-that she was already strong, tells her "stay out of trouble, sunshine", then admits he was there multiple times when she was calling out to the night...he went to her house just to see her...

But yeah that's all 🤭

Like man, she's your girl; the only person who has to like her is you, not your family (although of course, it's much better if everyone likes her).
