People thinking they can poke holes in the quality of the media I hyperfixate on puzzle me. Dude, I know it's trash. I know it's mediocre-to-actively bad. I know it has the nutritional value of Fruit Loops. That's why I hyperfixate on it. If it was actually good it wouldn't produce the kind of under-the-skin irritation only scratchable by 738274 fics, fanedits and meta. I'm not gonna apologize for it.

Of course people who hyperfixate on this trash thinking it's good is a whole other class of animal. That probably belongs in a zoo.

just finished the rwrb movie and although i really enjoyed it (and was kicking my feet giggling the whole time) i do have a couple of major criticisms, some of which i think aren’t really the movie’s fault because they had to fit a whole book into 2 hours, but some of which left me kind of disappointed:

-i feel slightly icky that bea and nora got their screentime SIGNIFICANTLY reduced even after june got cut entirely (which i was upset about, but did understand). i loved zahra and adored her on screen but i do think it’s very odd that she is pretty much the only major female character in this movie since bea was nonexistent and nora got permanently spirited away to pez’s bed or something sometime during the second act

-it felt like a lot of the internal conflict in alex and henry’s relationship was very unbalanced and henry heavy - alex’s neurodivergence was erased, his bi epiphany was barely even an epiphany, and him not being explicitly kicked off the campaign after ellen finds out about him and henry essentially killed his whole subplot about realising he doesn’t need to have everything achieved at thirty and deciding he wants to apply to law school instead. which wouldn’t have been terrible but on the flipside it felt weird that we didn’t see very much of henry’s family considering how much they affect and shape his fear of being outed and his feeling of being in a glass cage - e.g bea’s treatment by the media during her active addiction (which was entirely erased), the extent of the tension between him and philip. felt like henry’s pov scenes were a super wasted opportunity for that and we were mostly just being Told about all of these things

-i am not actually that mad about oscar and ellen still being together lol but i felt like in the scene with oscar smoking the cigar on the balcony they were kinda building up to there being significant strain in his and ellen’s relationship that just wasn’t explored. especially since it’s clear oscar would never be able to be president because he’s not a natural born citizen + the sacrifice of his career for ellen’s is so much bigger now that he’s first gentleman in this version

-pacing in general was a bit off but the worst offender was the fact that there was a complete time skip between the alex henry confrontation/reconciliation and the outing. so much of the tension and desperation from that outing scene comes from the fact that the risk of it happening was slowly increasing throughout the book and it felt almost inevitable (the elevator cctv being leaked, henry having to fake date june) and honestly making it so abrupt weirdly reduced a lot of its impact for me

-similarly i actually completely understand why the richards plot / rafael luna plot was cut (i suspect republican election interference hits a bit too close to home after 2020) but my god was miguel a lame fucking villain and him being queer and hispanic erased a lot of the original commentary about racism and homophobia that the richards plot lent itself to. like in general this movie was a lot lighter than the book which is fine! but for a movie where the main subplot is a presidential election So Much of the political themes were heavily neutered or cut to the point that it seemed like the pressure on henry and alex’s relationship was disproportionately coming from henry’s side when in the book it was more balanced

again on the whole i really really loved this movie and i knew going in that certain changed were going to be made. and i hope more movies get made like it! these r just my Thots and i may change my mind when i rewatch it with my friend tomorrow

Upcoming Projects for 2025

Lola and I have something that we want to get going in 2025, but the reality is that I've struggled with writing this year and I've got a lot going on in the first part 2025 that will require my creativity so other than my project with Lola, I'm really not sure what I'll be writing. There are a couple of things I'd like to write, but we'll see.

As for the fics I've posted in 2024:

In 2023, I posted 15 fics which weren't just updates to my drabble collections. I'm pretty sure this was a reduction in what I'd posted in 2021/2022. This year, I've continued that downward trend and posted 7 fics, 4 ficlets (less than 1k words), and a smattering of drabbles (ie. strictly 100 words) here on tumblr, some of which have been cross-posted to ao3.

The thing about sex with Henry is, it’s never the same twice. Sometimes he moves easily, caught up in the rush, and other times he’s tense and taut and wants Alex to work him loose and take him apart. Sometimes nothing gets him off faster than being talked back to, but other times they both want him to use every inch of authority in his blood, not to let Alex get there until he’s told, until he begs. It’s unpredictable and it’s intoxicating and it’s fun, because Alex has never met a challenge he didn’t love, and he— well, Henry is a challenge, head to toe, beginning to end.

Or: series of snapshots of Alex and Henry’s versatile sex life throughout the years – because the more life changes, the more some things stay the same. A Firstprince birthday celebration collaboration.

trying to finish a fic via fighting for my life in the google docs … you might see the posted fic soon or you might not but rwrb fandom pls let me know your thoughts tysm <3

“he wanted to tell me something, bea. something important.” he spoke against her shoulder. “i don’t want him to say it. i think it would break me if he said it.”

“but you love him, don’t you, buttercup?” she responded, “that’s why you don’t want him to say it.”

henry paused, exhaling a shaky breath as he lifted his head up to face his sister. this casual nature that he and alex had built up had henry addicted to a degree that most would consider unhealthy. it was as if he was chain-smoking alex, lining up sex in hotel rooms across all fifty states, dragging each one out until their bodies were spent and they were falling asleep in each other’s arms. surprisingly, alex never got tired of his desperation, and perhaps the forbidden nature of it all added to the thrill, but the idea of going further was somehow even scarier than going cold turkey. being with alex felt like some world he could escape to, a high where could forget every responsibility whilst alex fulfilled every twisted desire his mind could conjure. but, clearing the air and making this thing with the first son official, having to tell the world that he was more than this figurehead their daughters would dream of marrying, it felt bigger than him.

alex at a distance was bearable, as much as it pained him to only give him so much of his heart. it was a perfect balance, and changing it would only cause chaos that henry wouldn’t be able to cope with alone.

do you think the blowing raspberries part was in the script? im confused, i think it would be a bit weird and wrong? if it was taylor doing it suddenly so i hope the whole thing was alex and henry

We can't really know, but to me, it looked like just Taylor messing around. However, I think that acting like it's weird/wrong of him to do that is an overreaction. They have mentioned countless times that they were always doing things to make the other laugh or tease each other on set. They knew each other's boundaries. They wouldn't do anything that would make the other uncomfortable.

Nicholas starts smacking him because it probably tickled, and that's what you do when you're being tickled in some capacity. But he pushes him off and says "go back to America" like he was still in character, instead of something like "oh fuck off Taylor". He was clearly playing along.

I am going to think positively and assume you're not trying to, but this is teetering on the edge of implying that Taylor and Nicholas have an issue with each other, or don't get along.

That is simply untrue, and there are people actively trying to spread this misinformation to create a rift in the fandom. The same people have been trying to say that Nicholas and Taylor don't care about RWRB or don't like it due to their lack of promotion, when it is due to the strike that is still actively going on. They legally not allowed to promote it without breaking the union's strike rules.

Both have still done subtle things to indicate their love of the project, like Nicholas posting pictures of him with blond hair from back when they were filming "for no reason", and Taylor setting up his Instagram to be only following Alex's official account. Nick posted a single red heart on either Twitter or Threads on the day of the movie's release. Taylor said he wasn't going to be signing things at the London Vogue event he participated in, but saw fans with the book and made an exception.

Like I said, I'm going to assume that it's not your intention, so I'll just say, please be careful with what you say with things like this, because those people will jump on any opportunity to perpetuate these lies.

RWRB: Where the Spirit Meets the Bones by milowren [WIP; Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 48.7k words] I rarely, rarely start WIPs; this AU is one of few exceptions. Alex's mom buys a Victorian era mansion after the end of her second Presidential term. Part murder-mystery, part romance, part modern magic, all fantastic.

RWRB: A Practical Arrangement by you!! (kiwiana!!) [Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 19.8k words] I'm fairly certain that I yelled at you over multiple platforms when I got to the end of the first chapter of this arranged marriage AU... Henry and Alex have been betrothed for three years, and the big day has finally arrived. Just... a phenomenal story.

RWRB: But I love him, whether or no. by @leaves-of-laurelin [Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 77.1k words] Henry moves to NYC to help Pez open a bar. He falls in love with firefighter Alex, who works at the fire station right across the street. Super great friends-to-lovers AU. RWRB: All the Old Showstoppers by @cha-melodius [Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 20k words] This was one of the AUs that really stood out to me when I first started my deep dive into reading fic in this fandom. Alex skips the royal wedding, and three years later he and Henry meet as competitors on The Great Celebrity Bake Off. Delicious.

MCU: A Story We Must Tell by AHM1121 and MissyRivers [Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes, E, 166.2k words] An epic AU in which ex-military author James Barnes and ex-military lumberjack/fisherman Steve Rogers meet and fall in love. This one took me a couple days to read, and I'm glad I took my time because it's beautiful.

Boyband RPF: The Way You Know Him by Kaelie and Bethann [JC Chasez/Justin Timberlake, M, 191.2k words] This is boyband RPF, but it's so AU that you'll have to squint to recognize the pop stars' personalities. Justin is new to a publishing house, and JC is on the board. I remember when this was first being published, I waited with bated breath every month for The Way You Know Him Day because I loved it so, so much. That has not changed.

Star Trek: Take Refuge in What You Know by CorpusInvictus [James T. Kirk/Spock, E, 120.3k words] Kirk is new to his apartment building and wants to get to know his neighbors. He meets his neighbor, Spock, a loner who suffers from extreme agoraphobia. Kirk thinks he's a beautiful enigma. This one will hurt your heart in the best way. Mind the tags, though.

The Pacific: The History Books Forgot About Us (And The Bible Didn't Mention Us) by callmejude [Mariell "Snafu" Shelton/Eugene Sledge, E, 116.9k words] A canon (history?)-divergent AU in which Eugene and Snafu bond in a different way after one of their squadmates is shot.

972,000 and i'm going to hit a million by the end of the year! i have one co-written collab so we can subtract about 30k (ish) from that total (but with ALTA i'll still make a milly woohoo).

Always. You put in the effort to comment on my work, I'm gonna put in the effort to reply to you. I appreciate comments so much, even if they're just emojis or one line or whatever. I appreciate every single one of them (except the mean ones).

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't usually go here, but I think it has to be Contaminated (RWRB).

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

99% of my fics have happy endings (except for the fic above lol) but I'd say the happiest ending is in (Un)Professional Services because they're So. In. Love. and they just *spoiler* together and they're about to *spoiler*.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Rarely and I usually ignore it or delete it (so there's no point doing it).

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

A Lot. Usually served with a heavy side of feelings - I like it when the smut drives the plot, when it helps the characters have those Oh Shit realisations. I'm also a sucker for explicit, enthusiastic consent.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I have written like 30% of a RWRB/Lone Star crossover that may never see the light of day because I keep forgetting about it.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

If I have, I don't know about it.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! I've had a few of my fics translated by incredible people! Phonography, Warm Whispers and Baby, Make Your Move have all been translated and can be found above. I'm fine with people translating my fics, so long as they're linked to the original and remain on ao3.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes and I love it. I want to do it more often! @rmd-writes collab was an amazing experience. i've also loved working with @dustratcentral on so many of my more unhinged works.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I don't think I can choose between Alex/Henry and TK/Carlos.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Probably that damn crossover, unless there's like significant interest in me finishing it lmao.

Oh no. giving myself a compliment help. I would say worldbuilding. dialogue/banter. gratuitous feelings during sex.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

exposition. being concise. overwriting to the max @three-drink-amy (this is an attack on you as well but we are we).

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i've done it before but to be honest i'm scared to. 1) i don't want to get it wrong. 2) i don't want to annoy my very talented friends that can speak other languages by asking them 10 billion questions lol.

Trying my best to finish reincarnation au while also plotting out a very ambitious fic for a new fandom (mysterious lotus casebook) that I'll be trying to tackle in 2024. Also the month I got super into cdramas/c-ent.

Wow, compiling all this made me realize I wrote a whole lot more than I thought: posting 9 stories and writing around 50k new words! I also participated in a lot more fan events than ever before and finally begin sharing the story that's been living in my brain and docs only for almost three years. All in all, a very satisfying year for me while also looking forward to new projects in 2024~

My favourite colour is purple (I wonder why), I am Bi and Genderfluid (They/She/He pronouns). I am a fanfic writer, cosplayer and editor, along with this blog. I play on Roblox (mostly Royale High).

Me and a few irl friends are also writing our own web comic, which I may share about on here, but most will be on the books account @the-spirit-academy which is run by me and an irl friend. There is nothing on it atm, but there will be at some point in the near future (hopefully).

Shelby and Tyler go on a date, it hurts Kendall in a way, she wants to be in Tyler's place, but Riley helps her realise that it's ok. Then she rants about how pretty Shelby looked.

The Honourary Rangers - PRDC, Rated Teen, based on a hc, I (and a few others on the discord) have, that the science geeks of the team made new morphers that allowed certain people to become temporary rangers. It stemmed from my interest in the morphing grid and Kendall being the mentor, then grew. The main question is: who becomes an honorary ranger? {UF}

Mine - Kendall/Shelby, PRDC, Rated M, Vamp AU, main fic in the vamp au, it explores their relationship from Kendall's POV, while also exploring what it's like for her doing what she does whilst being a vampire, and whilst having her past {UF}

1 Time Kaylee Helped Kendall and 1 Time Kendall Helped Kaylee - PRDC, Kendall and Kaylee often hole themselves up in their work. This means they can forget to do things like eat and rest. This is one time Kaylee helped Kendall and one time Kendall helped Kaylee.

Night Training - Ivan POV, PRDC, it's Ivan's first training session with them, but it's one of Kendall's surprise nighttime ones. She likes to keep them on their toes

Too Much Labour - Kendal POV, PRDC, Rated M, Kendall breaks down due to all the pressure she's put under as the ranger's mentor/scientist, and being a ranger herself. She proceeds to tell Keeper how she feels. Complete with Chase + Kendall siblingism.

Feels So Good, But Hurts So Bad - Kendall/Heckyl, PRDC, Rated M, A series of oneshots inspired by Troublemaker by Olly Murs, which follows them both as they figure out how they feel about each other pre and post reveal (of Heckyl + Snide), and what they do about it {UF}

Repeated Control - Tommy POV, PRDT, Rated M, Set After Trent comes out of the spell and Tommy out of the amber. Tommy offers support and tells him about the time he was in his position.

You Have A Therapist? - Kendall POV, PRDC, Rated M, The ranger team find out Kendal has a therapist, and a little about why

Awakening - Tommy/Adam, Adam POV, PR Zeo, Rated T, After Adam’s dream about his friends being supernatural creatures, one specific part won’t leave his head, causing him to realise some feelings. Aka: That whole scene between Vampire!Tommy and Adam was gay as fuck, so I had to write a fic post that.

Rewind (Amanda Vs Ultra Elite) - Gisanda (Giselle/Amanda), Rated Teen, Set during S9 (writing started pre S9 release), what if, Amanda had been keeping an eye on Lucien as much as she could, she knew his schemes weren't over. When she hears about Ultra Elite being shut down, she knows what's likely happening. What will she do, when there is a risk of a rewind, and history repeating itself. (Side note: Amanda is traumatised from her past home life and time at Elite)

Tell The Story (The Reality Of Elite) - Amanda POV, Rated Set post S2, but pre S3. Giselle walks into a dance studio at school to practice, but sees Amanda crying in a corner. Giselle, who had gained feelings for Amanda that hadn’t left her, even after the betrayal, helped Amanda calm down. This led to Amanda revealing what had made her so upset, and, in turn, the reality of Elite.

honestly i just feel so bummed out by amatonormativoty recently. anything im like ‘ooh! this looks good!!’ will normally be riddled with amatonormativity when i actually check it out. ive come across this book called ‘red white and royal blue’ but it looks so... allo. which is odd because it was recommended to me by a fandom where the author of the books in that fandom is aroace. and someone today told me about this tv show called ‘shmigadoon’ or something like that. the main plot apparently is about two people with a failing marriage who get transported into a world of 1940s musicals. except they can only escape through finding true love. a tiny part of me is praying for it to be about them discovering platonic love but i can tell from the trailer and set up it won’t. i’ve not actually rwrb yet nor watched shmigadoon but my brain has just kind gone :/ because of these whole plots about ‘love fixing the world’ or stuff like that. plus there are countless other examples that i can’t even list because that list is too long. idk maybe im just being bitter. all my concerns have just been met with ‘yeah but this person is gay!!’ (that’s still allo you dum-dum) or just straight (haha straight) up ignoring and interrupting me. im barely even out to anyone as angled aroace. so honestly bringing up my qualms just feels like im outing myself or something. also jeez this ended up way longer than i thought it would haha.

12. any predictions for 5b?

oh SO many. the number of possibilities with eddie being dispatch... the limit does not exist. so buck gets hurt on a call with eddie being on the other side painfully aware that buck is in danger but not being able to do anything except say his name again and again bcos he’s not there to have buck’s back like he promised - no vowed - years ago? like if that doesn’t happen what is even the point! and with the theme of children getting hurt that has been running all season, it has to cumulate to christopher getting hurt and eddie not being able to do anything except trust that buck will get to their son and protect him, which would inevitably have to lead to a conversation about the will! I also think at least one person from the firefam will also find out about the will.  and now that we have the fire at dispatch confirmed I think eddie is going to spend the whole time saving people without a stitch of protection or gear (eddie’s very own tsunami arc!) and realise that being a firefighter is who he is, and no matter how much he tries to ignore that part of him he can’t. and also make some uncomfortable realisations about his own mortality and the fact that quitting firefighting does not guarantee his safety, which I think will ultimately lead to a conversation about the shooting with both chris and buck, and the season will end with eddie officially coming back to the 118. 

14. what song(s) do you associate with buddie?

like every taylor swift song ever written? 

ok lol forever winter is THEE buddie song, esp the s5 arc (hence the 3 different edits I currently have in drafts ALL to this one song). this love is my no 1 buddie first kiss song, and I even wrote a whole fic about it. I also think pancakes for dinner by lizzie mcalpine is a great buddie song, as is home by 1d and helplessly by tatiana manaois. 

25. what is your ideal confession scene?

ive got two versions - a show version and a fic version/my ideal version. the show version I think they would do something dramatic, but I don't want it to be after a near death experience or anything. for buck, who has spent his entire life harming himself because he thinks people only care about him when he is dying, I don't think a death bed confession is good for his character. when eddie finally confesses (because in my head its eddie who takes the first step - eddie finally gets to choose his own happiness, and buck finally gets to hear someone say they love him and mean it) I imagine it to be a quiet moment. they’re in eddie’s kitchen, eddie washing the dishes while buck puts chris to bed and buck walks in and just starts putting the dishes away on autopilot, without having to even think about it. and eddie at that moment is struck with the realisation that all along he has been making a home with buck. it’s not just about the kitchen that buck uses more than eddie does. it’s about buck’s jacket hanging on the coat rack beside eddie’s, and the throw that smells of buck because thats the one he always uses on movie nights, and the nearly finished bottle of oat milk in the fridge that only buck drinks. and it isn’t a new realisation by any means, Eddie has known he loves buck for some time now, has known buck is a part of his family for even longer. but in that moment, that realisation knocks him off his feet and he starts seeing visions of a future he has never let himself imagine, and he cant go a single moment longer without saying it. and when he does, he waits for the panic to set in but it doesn't because he feels happy and content and light in that moment. he knows he and buck have been leading up to this moment for a long time.

Most popular multi chaptered fic: well i don't have a multi chaptered fic but my most popular fic is you got nothing but my crown on, which is fair bc it has beautiful art by one of my bffs (who i also wrote it for). it has 4.3k views, 385 kudos, and 74 bookmarks which is crazy!!!

Actual worst part of writing: finding the motivation. if i'm not in the mood i just can't do it.

How you choose your titles: all of my fics except for the beggin' series is song lyrics i'm pretty sure. my friends helped me with titling that whole series lmaooo

Do you outline: YES i find it super helpful. it lets me map out where i want the fic to go and add dialogue too for those scenes that i don't want to forget when i think of it. that and i always add comments to shit in google docs. if u follow me on twitter u have seen me call bucky a whore in the gdocs comments like 20 times

Ideas you probably won't get around to, but wouldn't it be nice: hmmmm probably the mummy stucky au.... like i would fucking love to be able to write that and i have even thought about commissioning an artist too if i ever did but in reality that would be absolutely too time consuming for me and i just don't think i could do that fic justice. i'm just gonna hope someone will write it eventually because i think the stuckies would go stupid go crazy over that au. never seen a gay person not like the mummy.
