Finding this ice nugget was almost as cool as finding a gold nugget! The toe of Exit Glacier was too unstable to allow approach but sent us a bit of a gift anyhow. 🎥 See more in Episode 44 🎥 #lifestyleoverland #glacier #exitglacier #alaska #kenaifjordsnationalpark #adventurelife (at Exit Glacier) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxsuM2KlEC-/?igshid=1ccnvc5k80z8o

This water has an “exit” strategy! Fun Fact I learned here: Rivers are fed from two different sources, snow caps and glaciers. The way you can tell the difference is that a snow cap fed river is clear, but a glacier fed river is murky and gray like the one in this post. This is because as the glacier melts it also releases trapped sediment that was stuck in the ice for thousands of years. Conversely, since snow caps are from last season they don’t have any trapped sediments which is why the water is clearer. #ExitGlacier #Alaska #KenaiFjordsNationalPark #glacier #nature #plaid (at Kenai Fjords NP Exit Glacier Nature Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSuzB0ph06vbHvB27MccOWwSrhxGeS_hhQ0_kc0/?utm_medium=tumblr

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all" - Unknown We hiked up to a glacier last week. The massiveness is not lost when you look at it, especially since it's just as huge close up as it is far away. But it used to be so much bigger. Every year, it recedes and gets smaller thanks to climate change. It was absolutely beautiful and a pretty hard hike. But dang was I glad I could. #Alaska #exitglacier #seward #cold #beautiful (at Exit Glacier National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDpOQLRpjC5/?igshid=17niu883i4xhy
