Corrie van Gorp als Suzanne in Hotel de Botel (1976)

Cornelia Elizabeth (Corrie) van Gorp (Rotterdam, 30 juni 1942 – aldaar, 22 november 2020) was een Nederlands actrice en zangeres.

Corrie van Gorp was een dochter van Piet van Gorp, die deel uitmaakte van het accordeontrio The Three Jacksons.

Van Gorp kwam in 1958 als danseres bij het Amsterdams Ballet en drie jaar later Het Nationale Ballet. Ze kreeg in 1969 een rolletje in de door Wim Sonneveld geproduceerde musical De kleine parade. Ze werd begin jaren zeventig landelijk bekend toen ze samen met Willem Nijholt optrad in twee theatershows van Sonneveld. In 1975 speelde Van Gorp een van de hoofdrollen in de musical Een kannibaal als jij en ik van Freek de Jonge en Bram Vermeulen.

Hetzelfde jaar was zij voor het eerst te zien in een revue van André van Duin. Samen met Frans van Dusschoten vormden de drie jarenlang een populair revuegezelschap. Twee bekende typetjes die Van Duin en Van Gorp samen vertolkten, waren Meneer en mevrouw de Bok. Van Duin bezorgde Van Gorp ook een aantal carnavalhits en filmrollen. Haar grootste succesnummers waren Zo slank zijn als je dochter (1977), Alie van de wegenwacht (1980) en Ik ben tamboer (1981). Tol Hansse en Clous van Mechelen maakten met haar de elpee Corrie van Gorp (1978), met daarop onder andere de single Een Hollandse boerenmeid.

In 1987 trok Van Gorp zich uit het theater terug wegens oververmoeidheid. Daarna woonde ze jarenlang op Aruba. Ook heeft ze in de jaren tachtig in Noordwijk, Zuid-Holland, gewoond. Later woonde zij in Rotterdam.

Grote theatershows deed ze na 1987 niet meer. Haar (geplande) laatste optreden verzorgde zij op 24 september 2007 in Exloo, samen met Van Duin, Lee Towers en Ron Brandsteder en onder begeleiding van het orkest van trompettist Jerry Steyger.

In 2009 was Van Gorp weer te zien op televisie als mevrouw De Bok, in de wekelijkse Dik Voormekaar Show van Van Duin en Ferry de Groot. In september 2009 opende ze (samen met Van Duin, als meneer en mevrouw De Bok) de jaarlijkse Draaiorgeldag in Amsterdam. Ook in het op 30 december 2009 uitgezonden programma ter ere van de 80e verjaardag van Mies Bouwman trad zij samen met Van Duin op als meneer en mevrouw De Bok.

Van Gorp overleed op 22 november 2020 op 78-jarige leeftijd in haar slaap. De uitvaart begon vanaf haar podium in de Oude Luxor in een witte kist.

Photo collage that is way too extensive and is only interesting to me (and maybe @sleepwalkwith-me) but I’m posting it anyway cause I had the best holiday in The Netherlands with my favourite ANWB couple (aka my parents) and my awesome sister. 

A lil summary of the week: we saw A LOT of hunebedden (dolmens??), we took a lot of hikes and went on bike rides, we swam, we visited little cities in this part of the netherlands and we played a lot of board games (which Karly hates but we somehow convinced her to take part). The weather was great too. It was awesome.

Astronomers revealed most detailed ever images of galaxies

After just about a time of work, a global group of astronomers has distributed the most definite pictures at this point seen of worlds past our own, noteworthy their internal activities in uncommon detail. The photos were produced using data accumulated by the Low Frequency Array (LOFAR), a radio telescope collected and stayed aware of by ASTRON, LOFAR is an association of something 70,000 little receiving wires spread across nine European regions, with its center in Exloo, the Netherlands. The outcomes come from the group's long periods of work, driven by Dr Leah Morabito at Durham University. The group was upheld in the UK by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). 

Revealing a hidden universe of light in HD

The universe is inundated with electromagnetic radiation, of which apparent light involves only the smallest cut. From short-frequency gamma beams and X-beams to long-frequency microwave and radio waves, each piece of the light range uncovers something exceptional with regards to the universe.

The LOFAR network catches pictures at FM radio frequencies that, dissimilar to more limited frequency sources like apparent light, are not hindered by the dust storms and gas that can cover galactic items. Areas of room that appear to be dull to our eyes, really consume brilliantly in radio waves – permitting stargazers to investigate star-framing locales or into the core of worlds themselves. The new images, made possible because of the international nature of the collaboration, push the boundaries of what we know about galaxies and super-massive black holes. A special issue of the scientific journal Astronomy & Astrophysics is dedicated to 11 research papers describing these images and the scientific results.

The pictures uncover the internal operations of adjacent and far off cosmic systems at a goal multiple times more honed than ordinary LOFAR pictures. This was made conceivable by the exceptional way the group utilized the exhibit.

The 70,000+ LOFAR receiving wires are spread across Europe, with the greater part being situated in the Netherlands. In standard activity, just the signs from receiving wires situated in the Netherlands are joined, and makes a 'virtual' telescope with a gathering 'focal point' with a width of 120 km. By utilizing the signs from all the European radio wires, the group have expanded the distance across of the 'focal point' to right around 2,000 km, which gives a twenty-overlay expansion in goal.

Not at all like traditional cluster receiving wires that consolidate different transmissions progressively to deliver pictures, LOFAR utilizes another idea where the transmissions gathered by every radio wire are digitized, moved to focal processor, and afterward joined to take a picture. Each LOFAR picture is the aftereffect of joining the signs from more than 70,000 radio wires, which is the thing that makes their remarkable goal conceivable.

Scientists said that eventually, high-energy bright radiation from detonated stars split the intergalactic hydrogen particles into electrons and protons. When ionized, the hydrogen would be electrically conductive and at this point don't disperse light.

Those components are produced by atomic combination inside stars, so either the cosmic system contains the detonated stays of bunches of monstrous stars, or it shaped in an area of room that had been recently cultivated with the remainders of an earlier age of stars, researchers said.
