Random quick drabble I wrote as I contemplate an Amphibia x Percy Jackson au (by that I mean Amphibia characters in a setting with rules nearly identical to those of Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

Context: The Trio are Greek Demigods, but they're at the Roman camp because I Said So (read as "the girls live in LA so the Romans said Why Not?")

Sasha is a daughter of Ares, and Marcy is a daughter of Hephaestus with the fire blessing (immune to fire and can produce it)

(Warning for semi-consensual burning of another person's arms)

"What do you think you're doing, young lady?"

Sasha barely spared a glance at Beatrix— her current task required more focus, and was much more interesting. "Experimenting."

Less than a second later, the lighter was tugged from her hand and, unfortunately, away from Marcy's arm. The girl in question, meanwhile, hadn't been paying any attention at all— she was listening to something or other with the old Skip Man they'd found while she doodled in her notebook.

"Well stop it!" Beatrix demanded. "Knowing you two knuckleheads, you'll burn half her hair off before either of you notice the flame!"

"I've seen her hair catch fire before," Sasha refuted, "it just burns like steel wool."

Okay, if a crossover between the Doctor One AU and the Sasha’s Dumbass Cat AU were possible, I feel like this is how half of Sasha and Zib’s conversations would go.

Both fucked everything up at a relatively similar age, but Zib is forty percent certain everyone he bumps into is dumber than him and Sasha is only likely to butt heads with people she doesn’t like. As soon as Zib does something that makes Sasha decide she hates him, it’s all over.

While doing dishes, I was thinking about something that kind of made me stop and go, "Huh."

When we see spiritual enlightenment in media, it is shown as an end goal, the highest being you could possibly achieve, this big bombastic "OHHHH I GET IT NOW." And like.... Universal?

But....That can't be true. Universal spiritual enlightenment does not exist. Every human is different, and their beliefs are completely different. And we have had many spiritually enlightened teachers over the centuries, all with different belief systems and thought processes.

Yet they were still enlightened and "right" regardless. Because enlightenment is not universal. Enlightenment is just as varied as people and their personalities.

And they, themselves, admitted that enlightenment was not an end goal. It's a constant journey, a path that you walk, not this magical omnipotence that washes over you immediately. Enlightenment is a curriculum, a course, and the universe is the teacher. But it is up to you to decide to pay attention in class or ignore the teacher.

It doesn't matter how you pay attention, either. Be it standing, sitting, pacing, doodling, fidgeting, laying on the floor, or being the most neurodivergent nugget the world has ever seen and doing all of those at some point and then sitting upside down in your chair like an autistic bat.

That last one was me, by the way.

Enlightenment is not an end game. It is a constantly evolving understanding of the inner mechanics of our spirit, a path with beautiful scenery and cute little fluffy bunnies and butterflies and the smell of fresh baked apple pie.

But it is also a path of thorns, danger, pits of despair. Sometimes, the same beautiful trees block out the sun and cast the path into darkness.

But it is your job to decide how you react to it. Do you stay in the same place, with the bunnies and the butterflies, always wanting pure comfort, too scared to venture beyond the haven? Or are you secure in your knowledge that you are safe and protected, that you can go through those difficult parts of the path and end out on the other side of it and find something even better afterward?

At the end of the day, enlightenment is not a destination but a path that you walk. And you get to determine where that leads you.

Your truth is the real truth for yourself. And how you perceive the world is how you'll receive it.
