This article talks about news terms over at X, formerly Twitter, dictating any court cases need to be filed in the Northern District.

elongated muskface never understood what Twitter was and now he wants X to be worse.
Maybe if you're only into celebrity/influencer culture then maybe I can see the argument for that format shift... but for anything else, it seems like a losing proposition.
Personally, I used Twitter to track of local things, then news things, then science/tech folk, then culture folk (authors/actors/musicians) [this is different than "Celebrity", even if a few of them are...].
I used to spend hours reading every tweet (because the accounts I followed were worth it).
Now I check for notifications and am out of the app within seconds.
I admit, I did let my personal site and other online presences diminish as a result of my Twitter usage, but I liked the microblogging aspect (and enjoyed using it).
Long form X posts (remember, it's always a good idea to rebrand your app to a thing that looks like you want to close an app on a desktop... click the X to quit) miss the point and trying to make useful creators engage in that format... well, maybe bring back 3rd party accessibility tools and we'll talk.
Unless muskface is willing to pay good money from his own pockets for content creation on X, it'll remain a ghost town of its former self.
I mean, sure, there might be easier ways to blow 44billion...
And then we have this news: "[redacted] X is a black hold of value"
Canonical enshittification
This is the Facebook playbook: you lure in publishers by promising them a traffic funnel ("post excerpts and links and we'll show them to people, including people who never asked to see them"), and then the rug-pull: "Post everything here, don't link to your own site. Become a commodity supplier to our platform. Abandon all your own ways of making money. Become entirely subject to the whims of our recommendation system."
Next will be: "We block links to other sites because they might be malicious."
Then some kind of "pivot to video."
Probably not video (though who knows?) but some other feature that a major rival has, which Twitter will attempt to defraud its captive, commodified suppliers into financing an entry into.
In case you were wondering, yes, this is canonical enshittification. Lure in business customers (publishers) by offering surpluses (algorithmic recommendation and an ensuing traffic funnel). Lock them in (by capturing their audience and blocking interop and logged-out reading).
Then rug the publishers, clawing back all the surpluses you gave them and more, draining them of all available capital and any margins they have, until they die or bite the bullet and leave.
I would also give good odds on this leading to a revivification of the "Pay us tens of thousands of dollars a month for a platinum checkmark and we'll actually show what you post to the people who asked to see it."
That will be pitched as the answer to publishers' complaints about not wanting to turn themselves into commodity Twitter inputs. It will be priced at the same (or more) as the revenues publishers expect to lose from being commodified, making it a wash.
All of this seems to me to be an "unfair and deceptive business practice" under Sec 5 of the FTC Act.
If I sign up to follow you because I want to see what you post, and Twitter shadowbans your posts unless they are formatted to maximize your dependence on Twitter, they have deceived me, and are being unfair to you.
This is *very* analogous to the Net Neutrality debate, where a platform blocks or deprioritizes the things its users ask to see, based on whether the suppliers of those things are its competitors.
I've written about how an end-to-end principle for social media could be enforced under Sec 5 of the FTCA, how it would address this kind of sleazy practice, how it would be easy to administer, and wouldn't form a barrier to entry for new market entrants:

I just saw that ExTwitter has rebranded tweets as posts. Which is fine. Except retweets are now reposts, and that is the worst thing they could have chosen, considering "do not repost" is commonly used to mean "you can share my post, but don't post it like it's yours". Like, they could have chosen any other word, but because they're just painting the Twitter bits a different color, they're only creating further confusion about what words mean in internet culture. (Note: a quick search informed me that TikTok has been using a share function called "repost" since late last year. So as usual, the language confusion is heralded by TikTok).

Sukuita is a lot. I haven't been the same since people on extwitter pointed out that in chapter 64 nobara says she wouldn't crush on yuji even if earth and heaven were to dance the lambada, and it shows two mannequins in the same position as yuji and sukuna in the dance art. Sukuna and yuji, who are associated with heaven ("the fallen one"), and earth ("earth womb") respectively. The lambada, an extremely sensual dance. Ok.
Hi anon and what the actual fuck because that is an insane catch.

It is not the same position but rather close to it but still... wow. Still, I should've realized when it was featured in the chapter with Ozawa. I always squint my eyes in suspicion now, ever since that damn epilogue and art drop that made me insane.
The fallen one and the earth womb huh. Good to know that Nobara gave a perfect example similar to that of sukuita to say she doesn't like Yuuji. It's almost like she knew lol

Using ExTwitter is just fueling the machine.
This article was posted back in April but has only gotten more relevant in the few months since then.
Sitting on the sidelines as someone who deleted his account a good while back and watching as the owner of the site has accelerated his plans and malice, getting pissed at people still using the site as it gets worse, and then getting browbeaten by people who say I gotta have empathy for the people still clinging to it, is exhausting.
People using fixupvxuptwitfix to make embeds on Discord “work” except when they don’t (the videos freeze up 90% of the time on mobile for me), people using scripts or extensions on their computers to make ExTwitter “good” again by hiding or blocking all the stuff that’s proof that the site is actively hostile to people of good heart and good conscience… People will learn a whole fucking programming sublanguage before they acknowledge that ExTwitter is a shithole not worth using anymore and their posts are just feeding the beast.
They’re feeding the beast, its belching smoke and flame and smashing things and hurting people that aren’t feeding it, and when others tell the ones feeding it that they need to stop, they get treated like they’re paranoid and delusional.
