What essential service does this kingdom provide? Agriculture and minerals (pounamu, quartz, garnets and gold).

City Description: A beautiful city state with an abundance of natural resources, Auckland is situated between two harbours, providing access to trade routes from both the east and west coast. Surrounded by a number of volcanoes the rich soil and strategic position have allowed the economy in Auckland to thrive.

A coalition of sub-tribes (hapū) are ruled over by the Paramount Chief. The Paramount Chief leads with the advice of a council made up of the hapū chiefs/chieftesses and appointed elders. Whilst the Tāmaki family currently lead one of the strongest tribes in Aotearoa there have been political tensions between the governing family and the hapū chiefs/chieftesses, with some thinking it is time for a change of leadership.
