It is way too easy to get ls points playing imp side toons in swtor like
You get your own allies to attack a Padawan to manipulate her but you mind controlled your allies to leave instead of killing them! Lightside points! You're still manipulating the padawan though and can convince her to kill someone without ds points as long as you don't torture her
Killing a guy who is resisting the empire trying to find a new planet for his people? Lightside points as mind as long as you don't kill a bunch of his civilian people and encourage them to leave?
Plot on dk: kill slaves painfully (ds points) or painlessly (ls points)
Like jfc swtor accept that sometimes working for the dictatorship based on rule of the strong and slavery is not gonna give you good people points

Fluffy February Day 15 -- Arrow
SWTOR
Time: End of KotET
Pairing: Theron Shan/Smuggler
~~
Jace was siting in his office when his radio broadcast was interrupted. He nearly did have a heart attack when he heard a voice, lost to him, say, “--- system-wide holochannel.  The galaxy is ready to meet the new empress.”
Theron.
He was alive --!!
Saying Vaylin had fallen – saying another woman was in charge of the Eternal Fleet?  Another monarch, another oppressive -- ?
The most unladylike scoff came over the line.  “I’m no empress.”
Jace had heard that voice before.  He pulled up his intel files on her.
…to be honest, Jace hadn’t exactly let them collect dust since Theron left the Republic for her. She who was dead.  She who had conspired with Sith.  She who had ruled the underworld.
…she who had saved the galaxy.  Again…
Jace tacitly leaned in his chair to see out of his office, into the bullpen of open office space.  Dorne was already corralling people into an orderly viewing party.
Of course she was.
“People of the galaxy.  The war is over.  The Eternal Fleet is pacified.  Vaylin is dead.”
Jace flipped on his holo viewer in his office, and there she was.  The Voidhound.  If it wasn’t her double, that is; he learned later she’d played him at Makeb.
“Today marks the end of the Eternal Empire.  The people of Zakuul are now free to rule themselves.”
There were a lot of nice words in the speech.  A few promises.  She kept it short and to the point.  Jace liked it.
But what he liked more was the shadow at the edge of the frame.  Jace could pick out the profile of a man that had drawn a few features from his end of the gene pool.  He could make out the distinctive shoulders of the jacket.  He could even see the stupid haircut, when the head turned just right, as if conferring with someone as the Voidhound spoke.
There had been profound concern in the Republic that Theron Shan was a broken arrow.  A bomb, not in their hands, waiting to go off or to be used against them.
…Jace knew that fear was not going to fade away.  In fact, it might get worse, because the Alliance had won.  Because they were now the balance of power in the galaxy.
Because Theron could and did decide for himself what was the greater good.  It’s why he ultimately became unhappy in the Republic.
…what if the infatuation with the Alliance never faded and he never came home?
The speech eventually ended.  Jace sat back in his chair, and he realized … he was coming down off a high mountain, one he’d been perched on since the active phase of the war had started almost a year and a half ago.
Jace Malcom relaxed.  And, as was his habit in meetings, he sat there, watching the now black holochannel.  It was still open, even though the speech was over.  He heard some movement, footsteps, droids walking.
And then paydirt.
“How was that?” the Voidhound asked, when she thought she was alone again.
“Optimistic and ambitious.  A good pairing for challenges ahead,” replied some Imperial accent.
“I’m proud of you.”  Theron said that, with so much warmth – Jace knew he was still a man in love.  “We all are.”
A little ‘heh.’  “Good.”  Then the line did go dead, as if someone notice a light on a board somewhere.
Jace couldn’t make any conclusions about the status of the relationship between Theron Shan and Eva Corolastor, alias the Voidhound.  But in that moment, he knew Theron was safe, and his side had won the galaxy.
Jace was relieved. Sad, immensely proud, and relieved. Mostly relieved.
...and now there was still a chance for him to fix things. That might have been best of all.

Long time no swtor thinkpiece, but.
Thinking about Eight in the IA class story and then who he is post-Alliance; going from a bold, daring and casually ambitious wildcard to someone who feels as if he's lost most of his zeal to become rather...listless. Empty. Not to say that he isn't fulfilled by his work in the Alliance (who all make exceptions to have him do anything but murder all day) but he starts picking up more mundane activities like, peeling potatoes for the Alliance cantina, or doing minor tasks that don't involve much thought on his own volition-- a stark change from a man who only cared about his blade and who it fell on. It's like he's been soundly defeated by the circumstances surrounding him.
Then there's the issue of his companions, who only knew him as their cunning leader who stopped at nothing to achieve his goals, even using some of them in the process, who now appears to be an entirely different person. One who quietly fades into the background, instead of being in the thick of it. He's changed.
His skills haven't waned, but his voice is flat, his eyes without gleam, his all consuming desire that drove him to accomplish the impossible by the day naught but simmering ashes by the time they reunite with him in KOTXX. He even apologizes to some, without explanation. This distresses Vector, in particular, who witnessed the worst of his sides way back in the day. "It's not me you should apologize to, Agent." Vector can only quietly say, "I have never held you in ill regard for the choices you've made, anathema as they were to my principles." It's a conversation that peters off, but one that Eight never had, never had soon enough --his firm refusal to rectify or acknowledge that Vector could choose him over his own ideals is one that gnaws at him on the inside for years, on his own belief that people cannot change what they truly believe in, and so there is no point in trying to make amends for what bridges he burns in the pursuit of his own wishes. This, and many other denials, compound over the years into a rather hurtful self-made solitude that follows him long into the Alliance. (A mother will never give up her son. There is no other way. I cannot change my nature as a weapon. Their rejection of me is something I must accept.) A punishment, but for who?
Perhaps he still feels he's failed the last mission Keeper entrusted to him. The one that asked him to become a real, living person, and not just a sword dressed in imperial colors.
Eight spirals during the events of the Eternal Empire. He watches his downfall happen in real time. There's little he does about it. His home is gone, as are the people he fought for--Keeper, Watcher 2, Intelligence--and this new age is only filled with allies he cuts down faster than he can imprint their names into his memory. He's alone in this fight at the behest of others who do choose their ideals over him, who, in the end, turn away in fear and disgust when he bloodies his blade in their name. He makes no effort afterwards to right his image in their minds. He plays the villain, if others will not. For the first time, he tires of killing.
This leaves him alone, an outcast even among friends. Eventually, amongst the ruin their failed Alliance leaves in its wake, someone asks why things turned out this way; his lack of a will in the greater fight comes to light and sets several alarm bells off. Lana reduces his duties on the battlefield. Others, out of shared guilt and a fear of the bloodshed he wreaked on their orders, give him a wide berth to live normally for a while. It's not much and does little to his disillusionment and estrangement with his allies, but...it's a start.
Eight the Assassin turns into just Eight. And Eight the former agent, ex-Cipher, killer extraordinaire who never once dreamed of the stars, turns into someone who quietly watches the sun set on a world he barely recognizes,l but still stays up to see it, potato peeler in hand.

I saw the post about the big Bioware sale and figured you're a good person to ask since I've seen you posting about Mass Effect/Dragon Age a lot. The games look fun, and I'm a sucker for complex stories with customizable protagonists, but I am a complete weenie about the more, uh, mature stuff when it comes to romance and the 'M' rating keeps scaring me off.
Like I'm over 18 and I'm fine with the violence/drinking/most of the swearing listed with the M rating, but I just get deeply uncomfortable with the other stuff. I'm just weird like that, I guess.
Is it really a lot? Or is there like a skip option, or some kinda setting that'll just have it be a fade-to-black sitch like SWTOR? I won't be too disappointed if there isn't, I kind of expect that really, but I figured it was worth an ask while the sale is on/to keep in mind for the next sale.
I have major social anxiety and am kinda embarrassed about all this, so sorry about the anon-asking. :P
No, no, you're fine, I understand completely. (I can take or leave a lot of the sexier stuff myself) Now I will try to remember romance scenes bc I haven't played some of these games in 4-5 years, and some of the romances I haven't gotten to yet. 😅 (if you don't mind spoilers you can always look up the romance on yt to check for yourself if it goes past your preferences. but if you do wanna avoid spoilers I will do my best) P much all the romances there's only even potentially anything that might be a problem in the Culmination Scene.
(If I got anything wrong anyone please feel free to correct me)
I know in ME1 the romance scene(with Kaidan for f!Shep, Ashley for m!Shep, Liara for either) there's sideview but shadowed nudity for f!Shep/Ashely/Liara(with Arm Strategically Placed to block boobs so all you really see is a little bit of butt) and Kaidan/mShep is shirtless.
ME2.... I think there's 0 nudity and ftb for Garrus, Thane, Tali, and Jack(ftb on tenderness, comes back in to fully-clothed snuggles in bed), Jacob's shirtless, and Miranda you half-unzip her catsuit uniform so you can see her bra. Oh, and there's a mini-romance-y thing with Kelly and she wears something really skimpy if you do that.
ME3... I need to caveat I've only actually gotten through ME3 with my Kaidanmancers + the Jackmancer, but I watched p much all the others on yt to hurt myself. Also it's been a while. I don't thiiiiink there's any full nudity, when it gets to the big sex scene toward the end, the furthest it goes is cuddling/foreplay with underwear still on, then cuts to waking up still just in underwear, and not all the romances get that. Some of them, ah. end prematurely for different reasons, or the romance isn't an actual companion in this game, so there's less content(Kaidan, Ashley, Garrus, Liara, and Tali get the most, since they join the team + have been established longer). There are new m/m and f/f exclusive option in ME3, but it's been long enough I don't rememberrrrrr if there's anything risque for them. I don't think so.
Andromeda I've only done Liam's romance and I don't think there was much in there(you can get him to stop wearing a shirt on the ship about halfway through and there's a makeout session on the couch that ftb). I think Cora's and Jaal's involve male and female shirtlessness, but I'm straight up blanking for the rest of them.
FOR DRAGON AGE
In Origins, the "big scene" for the romances does involve "sexy" movements, but the characters still have on underwear, so no nudity, and tbh with game engine/graphics advances that have been made a lot of people find those scenes cringey/silly more than sexy now. I think you can skip those, maybe, but if you can't there's dialogue after so you can just look away til you hear your chosen sweetie start talking and the conversation takes place fully clothed.
DA2 they did ftb for the four vanilla game romances. Love interest shows up, there's cutscene kissing fully clothed, ftb, wake up in underwear at worst. (Sebastian MY BELOVED is romanceable with a f!Hawke, but since he's a) chaste and b) a DLC companion, there's absolutely no sex scenes with him, you can get chaste married on his friend path and he'll talk about the two of you getting married to reclaim his homeland on his rival path).
DAI is... simultaneously best and worst in this regard lol Josephine and Solas there's nothing. Sera and Cassandra you see boobs and enough leg to hint at full nudity without actually showing it(Sera's might get a little more explicit, it's been longer for her so I don't 100% remember). Dorian's has... full rear nudity, but I think that's it. Blackwall's I don't remember, Cullen and Iron Bull both have scenes where you can tell they're naked, but the Inquisitor or an object is strategically in the way of the naughty bits.
OH AND not romance related, but possibly an issue, there are demons in the DRagon Age canon known as Desire Demons, who look like practically naked purple ladies(they have, like, an even skimpier version of the SWtOR Slave Girl outfit and are fond of caressing themselves seductively). They aren't in DAI, but do show up in the first two games for a few quests.

Have the new swtor expansions effected your plans for your story?
I wish I knew anything beyond KOTFE, tbh. And I haven't even gotten halfway through that particular arc, because I'm notoriously BAD at video games, despite loving them so much. The last thing I remember doing was watching Arcann escape after saving his ass, then getting stuck on some sort of stealth mission remote piloting a droid. Soooo... yeah. Haven't been able to get past that part.
It would take a lot of time passing for it to make much difference though, and Opening Dialogue will end before, well, ANY of the events in SWTOR even happen. Opening Dialogue and its related stories all take place just after the Treaty of Coruscant, and SWTOR doesn't happen until like a decade after that. So I guess it really only effects the other stories I have planned for the same AU.
And I guess that's partly why I had the Tribunal and the Shadow Imperium go so hard about "fading away" and disappearing from known charts and maps. I didn't know what "canon" would do with the timeline they were supposedly working with, so I had to find some way to handwave it all into making some sort of sense. If nobody is aware of their goings-on, then I should be free to do whatever I want :)
....Of course, I'm still curious what goes on, and even more curious about how I could fit the Opening Dialogue AU characters and actions into the greater GFFA. But I am not at a skill level that would enable me to play to that point in SWTOR to know what I could be working with.

To be honest, the whole "lightsaber as a phallic symbol" has been around since forever. Never underestimate Freudian types who will draw dicks on anything. Heck, even Mel Brooks cracked jokes about that in Spaceballs and a snarky old hag in KOTOR 2 pointed out that male Jedi tend to place a higher importance on it.
Headland is a head case. I mean...some of those answers she gave in the Vox interview were definitely a "Um...maybe you ought to be discussing this in a shrink's office," like the whole Sol murder thing. But like another controversial SW writer, Karen Traviss, she definitely leans into a lot of the less savory parts of the franchise with the intent of making the fandom uncomfortable.
The Jedi, at least in Legends, didn't do real well with accountability. Right out of the gate in TPM, Yoda and Mace are discussing how they're hiding from everyone how their powers are fading, which is why they're considering taking this nine year old kid to become their ultimate Sith killer (which, like a lot of living weapon ideas, blows up in their faces). I'm an Old Republic fan and so was Headland (she states that KOTOR 2 was an inspiration). And their accountability was somewhere in the Dantooine enclave subbasement that may or may not have been a full on black site for "correcting" prisoners or Jedi who just wanted to LEAVE. (Secrets of the Enclave, SWTOR) Be it arguably brainwashing Revan into a weapon, gaslighting Juhani, letting the Mandalorian War play out in the galaxy, letting a miniature version of it play out in their backyard, a Jedi splinter group murdering their own padawans and framing the survivor, or harshly punishing the one person who came back from the Mandalorian Wars to state their case, lying to them about their condition, and then trying a de facto witch burning on them (Jedi Exile, LS run). Headland is leaning into all those as well as Anakin going John Wick on the Tuskens that tortured his mom to death.
And really, the Senator didn't say anything I hadn't heard out of a bunch of characters in KOTOR/SWTOR, Old Republic comics, or a Karen Traviss novel, so it wasn't that groundbreaking to me.
Something that might have flown over the heads of those who weren't around during the 80s and 90s is that I instantly picked up on the whole Jedi versus the Witches conflict was that Headland was clearly referencing a moral panic that was a big thing in the 80s and 90s - a conspiracy theory of Satanic cults committing ritual abuse of children. Now, it was total and complete bullshit because no evidence was ever found, but it was a thing a lot of otherwise reasonable people 100% believed in, including law enforcement and government officials. And it was commonly non-Christians and LGBTQ+ families that were the target of the suspicion. With the Witches being rather spuriously accused of being "dark sided" and the way the Jedi were questioning the twin girls, it was like something you would see in a police procedural circa 1993 where the lesbian Wiccan couple gets accused of being Satanic child abusers.
Now, while Manny Jacinto was just a rock star when it came to Qimir's creepy charm, I'm with y'all on the alleged "romance." Seriously, Osha? He shanks your buddy, kills a few other Jedi, puts a saber to your twin's head, kidnaps you, could have done Force knows what when you're incapacitated, but one look at his magnificent bod and you're totally gonna forget all that? Honey, no shoto in his shorts could possibly be THAT magnificent.
Leslye Headland cares more about the Sith than the Jedi. I think her particular fascination is pretty undisputed at this point.
She explicitly says she wanted to write a Dark gothic romance featuring the Sith. And she got as much money as Dune 2 to do that. She got an enormous gift to tell the story she wanted. Okay. Fine. Not my cup of tea. But kudos to her for somehow collecting all those coins.
However, as a consequence of her lack of care for the Jedi, she ends up gleefully twisting them to fit her own power fantasy.
For example from the Collider interview we learned:
How the Jedi became stand-ins to attack the "institution" (of her choice, likely a religious one)
That the Jedi were used to critique patriarchy, with the Jedi master-to-padawan relationship somehow analogous to sexist father and oppressed daughter.
That Anakin murdering Tuskens and keeping it a secret inspired how Vernestra kept the Brendock scandal a secret (and that Vern is on a tragic arc too).
That she roots for Mae because the Jedi would never hold themselves accountable.
How the Jedi destroy children's worlds and how empowering it can be when, for example, they reclaim the saber that killed their parents.
How Sol and the Jedi caused Osha's loneliness.
That Sol talking about his love for Osha somehow robbed her of her agency? The agency Osha uses to join forces with the man who kidnapped her, killed her friends, and tried to kill her sister the previous day.
How she's using Senator Rayencourt as the voice of reason, and an audience stand-in, who asks "legitimate" questions about the Jedi having too much power.
That the Jedi have become cluelessly unaware of how they are perceived or that they could do wrong, because they've relied too long on their high status.
How the Jedi have always been "extremely flawed" (from the GQ interview)
A lot of this is not just divisive or cynical. It's creepy?
Headland wanted a dark Jane Austin romance featuring the villains in Star Wars - okay fine. I still think it could have been done without burning her Jedi Barbies to create new canon. I mean...its just brutal.

MONTARO XINOSI
• bisexual, cis woman (she/her)
• 40 in 10 ATC
• 5’7” (170cm)
• serenity shadow [dps]
• personality wise she’s quite bold and impatient (but can often come across as abrasive or grumpy): Montaro isn’t exactly prone to keeping her mouth shut, and often clashes with the Jedi Council as a result. she’s lost most of her idealism but still has a very strong sense of justice, and will fight to protect the innocent at most any cost to herself
• a famous Jedi general in the Great Galactic War, Montaro is well known for both her skill in battle and her grasp of military strategy- as well as her sharp tongue and the sense of loyalty she inspired in her soldiers
• two years before the Treaty of Coruscant, she led a strike team in a mission to take down a Sith ship carrying important targets and information, and along the way liberated a young boy that had been held prisoner there- Tey’erenet’hilar, a Force-sensitive Chiss exile- and took him back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant
• she was on planet for the Sacking and helped lead the fight against Malgus and Angral... but in the fighting, her teenage padawan was one of those killed (something she still bears a lot of grief and guilt for, second only to her grudge against Malgus)
• although embittered and traumatized by the events of the war, she helped to rebuild the Jedi Order and establish the Temple on Tython- eventually taking on Ereneth as her padawan around 1 ATC and forming a close master & apprentice relationship with him, eventually coming to view him as her son
• at least partly as an effort to get away from her past and attempt to do something good that wasn’t via war, Montaro threw herself into her passion for archaeology and history, eventually joining the newly knighted Eren in the Outer Rim where they studied artifacts and strange Jedi ruins for several years until the war started up again and they returned to Republic Space
• now, Montaro is still a fierce warrior, but she’s far more jaded and war-weary: she refuses to take positions of major command again despite her reputation, although her presence on the battlefield is still a welcome sight
• she likely becomes an alliance advisor or specialist of some sort in the fight against Zakuul

I am legitimately considering doing my second run of this chapter by zerg rushing through as many packs of enemies as possible, stealthing when my health is low, waiting out the cooldown, and rinse-repeating through to the boss fight.
Tizhen hits a lot harder than Hylira but the fact that she can tear through the enemies like wet tissue paper does not make it less annoying that they start shooting at her from six miles away when they shouldn’t know she’s even there.

Swtor has been the decline every since 7.0. My love for this game is fading and any hope I had for it is lost. The writing gotten poor, development is poor and the lack of communication is horrible. And don’t me started on the combat. What we got from swtor 10th anniversary is as I would put it, soggy cake. I been planning on unsubscribing for a long time but I haven't due to rumors that people have been unable to subscribe or resubscribe if they wish. It only a matter of time before EA pulls the plug and the game get shut down, we all know it. The Game is on life support. I’ve been more interested in Mortal Kombat then I have with Star Wars The Old Republic, which is a damn shame because I really love this game, the characters and the lore it brings, and it falling down hill right before my eyes. Might as well take my imaginary servant two plushie and be on my mary way.
Look all i’m saying is that the game is no longer fun to play, it feels more like grinding that anything else. Does this mean I’ll give up on my ocs and stop posting on this blog. Of course not. I’ll still be here, I’ll still give kept posting my ocs and giving them the love they deserves. But it will mean that I will be playing the game less and might not be bother to complete my campaigns.

There is no "good Sith". She should have just stuck to making a Dark Jedi. Or just a darksider who uses the force. The Sith don't have a good reputation for a reason, even if you get to play a "light side" Sith in SWTOR, people do not trust a Sith and are always afraid of them. They perputate a colonialist system ruled by unstable leaders who do more damage to an empire and its citizens than the Republic does.
Again, this could have been solved if the Sith had faded from the general memory of the galaxy and Aliana herself wasn't aware of what being a Sith actually means.
If she did it that way, then you could have a "good" Sith, because they exist in a world where nobody knows what that actually means. And Aliana could then redefine what the Sith are, without any of the other baggage.
Like, there are ways for the idea to work. It's just that Lily doesn't take them/think of them, and she doubles down on the worst aspects of her premise.

7, 47, 50?
7: A class you haven’t played (much) yet? I have almost zero experience with snipers/gunslingers and powertechs/vanguards. hopefully i get around to leveling these specs soon (i got some alts but with the combat styles it'll be much easier too 😄)
47: Your greatest moment in-game to date? Honestly not sure, I don't think i have anything in particular i would consider as a "greatest moment", but it's gonna make me feel so good when i finally complete my two remaining class stories, it's taking me forever to get to them (though i actually started progressing my trooper recently, so there's hope)
50: One hope for the future of SWTOR?
Good question!! i guess i don't have anything in particular in mind... though i'm kinda hoping that storywise our old companions won't fade into completely irrelevancy, at least not all of them. i can always dream for at least of a new ship conversation, right? </3

“...even listening to me?”
A sharp ache tore through their waist as Thaston jolted awake, blinking away their drowsiness to focus on their surroundings, remembering that they had been seated in the co-pilot’s chair on the ship with Kaliyo flying them to report on what had transpired at the Star Cabal’s hideout. The adrenaline had given way to bone-weary exhaustion at some point, must have let them doze off to the hum of the hyperdrive as they slouched in their seat, only for Kaliyo to rudely smack a hand against their ribs that were still sore from Corellia.
Slowly, they eased themself upright again. “What?”
“I said we’re coming out of hyperspace.” Kaliyo paused to flip some of the glowing switches spread before them. “Last chance to cut and run, if you actually want to play this smart.”
Tendrils of dread clawed at their insides as the hyperspace lines faded and replaced with stars, revealing the station where the remnants of Intelligence had taken refuge, and they hated how familiar that fear had become. Facing the people who had ordered the control over them, having to pretend that it didn’t bother them? That was the last thing that they wanted to do.
Especially after the deal that Thaston had just made with Ardun Kothe.
Kaliyo wasn’t stupid. She had left the room for them to talk, but she heard the initial offer, and she had to know that Thaston had brokered an arrangement to be a double agent for real this time. And they were certain that she didn’t care for it as much as she hated their work for the Empire, too. She had made it perfectly clear with a proposition to disappear and take up some jobs somewhere far away from this shitstorm by the time they passed through the airlock.
(Not that it was the first time that Kaliyo had ever offered for them to run away with her. But this time, they wondered when they might actually give into the idea. The looming station in the distance certainly tempted them to go for it).
Thaston stared at their shaking blue hand, opting to fold their arms over their chest to stop it. “You don’t have to stick around.”
A few years ago, Kaliyo probably would’ve snapped at them, arguing that they were trying to run on her. But now, she simply shrugged. “Not like I have anywhere else I need to be.”
“By which you mean that you still haven’t drained my bank account of all my credits yet, right?”
“Our bank account. Except when you’re an asshole, then it’s mine.” Kaliyo stretched languidly in her seat, pale arms reaching across their peripheral. “Making use of that fancy bed in the captain’s quarters isn’t too bad either.”
They shook their head and huffed a laugh, but something about the comment brought a pang to their chest. Still, though, they were grateful for the familiarity of banter with Kaliyo, and the occasional distraction that she provided when neither of them had anything else going on in their private lives, grounding them to reality despite everything.
“Hey. Look at me,” Kaliyo demanded.
Thaston turned to her, blinking slowly. The ship was closing in on the station. The beacon flared to life as the station hailed them for clearance codes to land in the docking bay. Kaliyo stared for a prolonged moment rather than answering it, her gray eyes searching them for something.
“Are we going through with this?”
We. The subtle reminder that maybe, just maybe, she did have their back in spite of all the posturing that she was going to take their credits and run as soon as she grew bored was enough to steel their resolve.
Thaston swallowed around the lump in their throat. “Yeah. We are.”
