Genius
Fandom: The Hobbit
Rating: General
Characters: Thranduil x FOC
Words: 311
Summary: Only a genius could love him so well, so deeply, so entirely.
Day 1: Genius
Thranduil watched her from the edge of the gardens, the pale moonlight lending an ethereal glow to her figure as she moved gracefully among the flowers. Her slender fingers brushed petals with delicate reverence, a quiet wonderment in her eyes as she spoke softly, coaxing the blooms back to vibrancy.
He thought back to all the moments he had watched her from afar, intrigued by how effortlessly she navigated the intricacies of the world around her, how she healed not only wounds of the flesh but those unseen scars of the heart. There were times he wondered if she even realized the depth of her own brilliance.
She was utterly captivating.
Extraordinary in ways that he had never fully grasped, never quite understood. Everything about her held a subtle, brilliant allure; it wasn’t simply the Maia blood running through her veins, nor was it merely her skill as a healer. It was the way her laughter seemed to resonate like a melody only he could fully appreciate, the way her eyes held depths he longed to explore, and how even her smallest gesture revealed an intricate complexity, a genius hidden behind the quiet facade she wore.
He knew he was complicated, a puzzle of ancient wounds and guarded emotions, difficult for anyone to understand or navigate. Yet, when she looked at him - truly looked at him - he felt impossibly seen, his own defenses utterly meaningless beneath the quiet intensity of her gaze.
It had taken him time to admit it, even to himself, but Thranduil now knew the truth clearly, unquestionably. To have earned her love, to be the focus of her tender affection, meant something profound. It was a privilege, a rare and precious gift, and it struck him now with sudden clarity.
Only a genius could love him so well, so deeply, so entirely.
And, impossibly, beautifully - she did.

Anoriel did not put on her eye focused face paint since Fili was invited into the royal family's private garden where they could wear minimal identifying face paints while they're there

#03 - Jam
My 3rd entry into Cozy Cuddle Week (@rivendellwatch) and after using the character spinner, I got Dori again. So here's another cozy, chaotic microfic!
Fandom: The Hobbit Characters: Dori, Nori Words: 417
・❥・“When it comes to jam, trust no one. Especially your own brother.”
It began with a missing jar of cloudberry jam.
Dori had been saving it. Guarding it, really, in the larder behind the sacks of barley where Nori rarely looked. It was imported from Dale - expensive, rare, and “absolutely not for snacking.” Dori had plans for it. Proper plans. Toast, maybe. A delicate tart. Something respectable.
So, when he opened the larder and found the spot conspicuously empty - along with a trail of suspiciously sticky fingerprints leading out into the hall - he knew exactly who to blame.
“NORI!”
Silence. Then a distant crash.
Dori stormed into the common room with all the righteous fury of a Dwarf denied his breakfast treat. He found Nori sitting far too innocently on a bench, holding a mug of tea, legs crossed like he hadn’t just committed culinary treason.
“What,” Nori said, taking a slow sip, “seems to be the problem?”
Dori narrowed his eyes. “You ate it.”
“Define ‘it.’”
“My jam.”
Nori blinked, feigning ignorance with such exaggeration it was almost art. “You had jam?”
“You knew I had jam!”
“Ohhh, that jam,” Nori said, as though the memory had just surfaced. “Right, right, the jar behind the barley. Funny place to store it, don’t you think? Almost like you were hiding it.”
Dori pointed a stern finger. “That was not an invitation.”
Nori shrugged. “You can’t hide treasure and not expect a burglar to sniff it out.”
“You’re not a burglar, you’re my brother.”
“Exactly. I’m better than a burglar - I know your hiding places.”
Dori huffed, turning on his heel, muttering darkly about betrayal and the breakdown of dwarven honor. Nori watched him go, chewing on something. Something suspiciously orange-gold.
“Are you eating the last spoonful right now?” Dori shouted from the kitchen doorway.
“…No.”
“NORI.”
A scuffle ensued.
Later that evening, Dori sat in front of the fire, a blanket wrapped tightly around his shoulders like a cape of misery. Beside him, Nori offered a slice of warm bread, now slathered with actual strawberry jam - clearly a peace offering.
“I still think the cloudberry one was overrated,” Nori said, nudging him.
Dori took the bread, biting it with quiet dignity. “It was aged in oak barrels.”
“Sounds chewy.”
Dori didn’t dignify that with a response but when Nori leaned a little too close, he didn’t push him away. After all, breakfast had been ruined, but at least they’d laughed more than they had all week.
And the new jar? It was already hidden again.
Different shelf this time.

Taking The Long Way Home, WIP Big Bang Submission
Story Title: Taking The Long Way Home Fandom: The Hobbit Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/60547801/ Summary: Bilbo flees after the Battle of the Five Armies, convinced that Thorin wants his head. Whispers of a small creature leaving the camp eventually reaches the Company, but after so long, who knows if Bilbo made it all the way home?
“A burglar might steal a kiss. Or two.
It was quite proper behaviour, really. He would be careful not to do it where anyone could see, of course – no need to cause a scandal. Bilbo would be very, very discreet before he went back to the Shire to nurse his broken heart. He was going to be heartbroken when he went back anyway, so he may as well enjoy himself for now.
Thorin was sure to tell him if he stepped out of line, so it was foolproof, really.
Nothing could possibly go wrong.” Warnings: N/A Characters: Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, Kíli, Fíli, Tauriel, Bifur, Óin, Glin, Balin, Nori Pairings: Bilbo Baggins/Thorin Oakenshield When I Started:* March How I Lost My Shit:* A) Abject terror at writing for a new fandom B) Having to actually, you know, write things How I Finished My Shit:* Knowing the amazing Lalaith_Quetzalli had made some art for my fic gave me a kick up the arse to actually get writing. But not until the very last minute.

this + your fav ship rn?
Ooooooo just choosing is so hard! Well, since @nejires-hados is kinda slowly bringing my The Hobbit hyper fixation back into my head with her Hobbit posts and oc fanfic. I'm gonna use my Tolkien/The Hobbit girl Marigold Baggins and her lover Fili Oakenshield.
I haven't really have gushed about her or about them at all! So here it goes!
Gives nose/forehead kisses: I feel like Marigold would do the nose kisses while Fili would do the forehead kisses!
Gets jealous the most: I feel like 100% would be Fili! Those Oakenshield men would be very protective and jealous over their chosen lovers.😉 At least they would to me...
Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive: There are no cars in middle earth, but I would it would be Marigold in their modern au.
Takes care of on sick days: I feel like both of them would take care of one another on sick days, but Marigold would be the best one at it. Fili just tries his best lol.
Drags the other person out into the water on beach day: Fili, he knows that Marigold loves to explore and the water so he would take her to spots he found he think she would love.
Gives unprompted massages: Fili 😌
Drives/rides shotgun: Fili drives and Marigold rides shotgun in modern au, but if we are talking about ponies, Fili is in front while Marigold holds onto his waist in the back.
Brings the other lunch at work: Marigold would prepare all the food Fili wanted and needed. It would be the same way in modern au as well.
Has the better parental relationship: Marigold's parents are deceased when they met and Fili still has his mother Dis, so I guess based on having one alive parent, Fili does.
Tries to start role-playing in bed: Marigold would try, wanting to keep spicing up their bedroom romance. Though Fili would never get bored with Marigold and would do anything she wanted to do.
Embarrassingly drunk dancer
Still cries watching Titanic: They're in Middle Earth where Titanic doesn't exist or even any movies, but I would like to think in a modern au it would be Marigold while Fili comforts her as she clings onto him.
Firmly believes in couples costumes
Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas: Oh it would be Fili 100%, he would buy and make her so much fine jewelry and gifts.
Makes the other eat breakfast: Oh Marigold would make Fili eat second breakfast.
Remembers anniversaries: Both of them would but I feel like Fili would have always made it so special and go out of his way for her during them.
Brings up having kids: Well, in their canon, their daughter Dis was a surprise that Fili never got to experience. But in a more happier universe, after their surprise daughter Dis, Fili would be the one to bring up wanting more children.
Send a ship and I'll tell you who:

Day 10 - P2: Undercurrent
Fandom: The Hobbit
Characters: Thranduil x OC
Words: 567
・❥・ “If I am in love with you, it would be the most dangerous secret in my kingdom.”
*ೃ༄ P2: Undercurrent .ೃ࿐
They were alone at last.
The council had long since dissolved into whispers and retreating footsteps, leaving only the flicker of torchlight dancing across marble pillars and the two of them suspended in silence. The air still carried the residue of politics, but what lingered between them was something far more volatile.
Elenariel stood with her back to the carved table, fingers resting lightly on its edge. She didn’t look at him - not at first. She waited. Waited for him to speak. For him to move. For the silence to stretch long enough that he would feel the need to break it.
But he didn’t. Of course he didn’t.
So she did.
“Admit it,” she said, voice low, silken with amusement. “You’re in love with me.”
The words fell between them like a stone dropped into still water - disruptive, irreverent, impossible to ignore.
Thranduil’s expression didn’t falter, but his body stilled as if the words had rooted him to the floor. His gaze slid to her - cool, unreadable, the kind of look that might freeze lesser souls. But Elenariel had never been lesser.
He took a step forward. Then another. Measured. Purposeful. Predatory in its grace.
“You presume a great deal, my lady,” he said, his tone a polished blade. “Is that your nature? Or merely your latest attempt to provoke me?”
She turned toward him at last, the corner of her mouth curving upward. “You make it far too easy.”
He stopped before her. Close enough that she could see the faint shimmer of silver threading his robes, the sharp lines of his cheekbones, the flicker of something unspoken in his eyes.
“If my presumption is false,” she said, her voice quieter now, “you could correct me.”
Thranduil tilted his head slightly, studying her as though she were a riddle carved in starlight. His silence was not hesitation - it was calculation.
“I do not explain myself to those who wear smugness like armor,” he replied, though there was no true venom in it. Only the practiced indifference of a king who rarely let his heart slip through his mask.
She leaned in just enough to make the air between them hum. “That’s not a no.”
Something shifted in his expression. Too subtle to name, too fleeting to hold. He didn’t step back. He didn’t break the gaze. Instead, he said, quietly, “And you think this… whatever this is… is love?”
“I think,” she said, “that if it were anything less, you would have shut me out long ago. You wouldn’t keep letting me in.”
A beat passed.
Then another.
And then - his voice, velvet and deliberate. “You crave answers more than you admit.”
“And you hide them more than you should.”
Thranduil’s smile - slow, cold, and devastating - spread like frost across a windowpane. “If I am in love with you, it would be the most dangerous secret in my kingdom.”
She raised a brow, eyes gleaming. “Then perhaps I should feel honored.”
He studied her one last time, gaze tracing her features like he meant to remember them - in case. Then, with practiced elegance, he turned, his cloak whispering against the stone floor.
“Perhaps,” he murmured as he walked away, “I shall grant you an answer… when you no longer need it.”
And with that, he vanished into the shadows of the corridor, leaving Elenariel standing in the golden hush, smiling to herself.
Not a denial.
Never a denial.
And that was all she needed.
For now.

Anoriel Fereniel, Lady of the Greenwood
TW: Parental Death Mention, Parental Neglect
So this is part of my little project where I make my own designs of Middle Earth and its characters including OCs and canon characters. My plan is to do one character per region for the time being until I figure out each style and each understanding I have for the characters I'm doing.
So here we have Anoriel's final design and I decided to lean into precolonial Tagalog fashion with some additions to cultural parts of their clothes.
The sashes are this wide long fabrics that the elves of the Greenwood would be able to use as a blanket, head covering, cloak or even bandages in times of emergency. This was suggested by Oropher's second son, Beriohtarion when the rot and darkness started infesting their lands.
Noblewomen have a clawed nail extension ring as an indicator that they are among the nobility. It's made of gold and inside the ring is a stamp of their House's emblem.
Also just cause I've always been unnerved by them growing up, the Greenwood is primarily filled with balete and narra trees. The balete trees are always tied to the superstitious belief that scary things live in them so I feel it makes sense the forest kingdom people are scared of would have balete trees.

#01 - Pillow
Fandom: The Hobbit Characters: Dori, Nori Words: 457 Event: Cozy Cuddle Week @rivendellwatch Prompt: Did you just use me as a pillow?
・❥・When the storm howls outside, even a grumbling brother makes a better pillow than being alone.
The storm howled beyond the mountain, a low, groaning wind that scraped against stone like a beast shut out from warmth. Inside the old hall carved deep into Belegost’s bones, the world was a different place - wrapped in golden firelight, thick rugs, and the scent of cedarwood and clove.
Dori sat with his back against a crate of winter preserves, legs stretched toward the hearth where embers glowed a lazy red. He had a book in hand, one of the older ones, its spine cracked from years of use, detailing the craftsmanship of Telchar of Nogrod—and a plate beside him bearing the last of the honeyed oat biscuits.
He was mid-sentence, eyes squinting at a smudged page, when a weight slumped against his right side. At first, he froze, hoping it was temporary. A shifting of blankets, perhaps. But then a warm head settled firmly against his shoulder with all the finality of someone who had no intention of moving.
He slowly turned his head and narrowed his eyes.
Nori.
Sound asleep. Boots kicked off, knees drawn up, arms folded loosely. He breathed steadily, even letting out a small, contented hum like a cat curled up in a patch of sun.
Dori blinked. “Nori,” he said flatly. “Did you just use me as a pillow?”
Nori didn’t answer. Not at first. His brow twitched, but he didn’t open his eyes.
“You’re warm,” he mumbled, barely audible. “And softer than a rock. Mostly.”
Dori scoffed. “Mostly? I’ll have you know-” He stopped mid-sentence, eye twitching as Nori shifted even closer, cheek now pressed firmly against his upper arm.
“You’re better than that lumpy feather-stuffed sack back in the guest quarters,” Nori muttered, nearly unintelligible. “Smell nicer, too.”
Dori gaped. “Is that a compliment or an insult? I truly can’t tell anymore.”
Silence.
Nori was asleep again, this time for good, judging by the way he snored, just faintly, like a distant rumble of thunder. Dori stared down at him, incredulous, as if unsure whether to shove him off or cover him with a blanket.
In the end, he did neither.
With a sigh that came from somewhere deep in his chest, he reached for the book again and adjusted it with one hand, the other remaining still beside his brother’s head. Carefully, he moved the biscuit plate out of drool-range, just in case.
“If you slobber on my sleeve, I swear by Durin’s beard…”
Still, he didn’t push him off.
Outside, the storm carried on. But in this quiet corner of the hall, Dori read in the firelight while his younger brother - incorrigible, infuriating, and impossibly dear - used him as a pillow without apology.
And though he’d never say it aloud, not even under duress, it wasn’t the worst thing in the world.
