Silks Hiding Beskar Steel
Satine Kryze did not grow up knowing she has the Force. She knows now. (And 'now' is too late to save quite a few people.)
Read on AO3
Heyoooo I brainstormed this on tumblr years ago, and finally got around to writing it.
Things I included:
Satine has the Force (AU)
Jaster and the Duke were a thing (AU), also here, and here.
Satine spent time with a covert during YotR (hc)
Tarre's haunting the saber (fanon) and approves of Satine the most of current contenders (AU)
She wore more traditional armor during YOTR but has so much ptsd attached to it that she swaps out for battleweave silks (Mandalorian space Kevlar) as soon as she can and refuses to turn back without good reason (hc) I held a poll once, too
This isn't a headcanon but Bo's age makes NO sense
Also, "distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not some farcical [...] ceremony!"
---------------------------------
It is three months, two weeks, and one day into her time with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn that Satine tells them, I have a bad feeling, and immediately dodges a blaster shot coming from behind her.
Satine has, since her early childhood, always been aware of things that try to kill her. Preternaturally aware, some might say.
It’s paranoia, plain and simple. Learned hyperawareness. People love to try to kill her.
The people in her life had shrugged and said, well, we all learn to trust our instincts. You probably heard something subconsciously or noticed a shadow move without realizing. Try to stay sane about it.
After they escape, Qui-Gon Jinn pulls out a notebook—the pad broke ages ago—and draws a few things on the other side of the fire. She doesn’t pay much attention. She is too busy gathering the dryest kindling and wood she can find for the fire as Obi-Wan hunts for their dinner.
(Is Bo-Katan alright? She’s far away, hidden in the core with their mother’s sister, but perhaps that’s not safe enough.)
(Satine worries.)
Jinn sits her down with an odd look on his face after they eat. He holds the notebook in front of him. He says, I want to check something. Can you try to guess what object I’m looking at in this notebook?
It’s odd, but whatever. She figures he’s trying to test how well she can pay attention, pick up on things when she’s otherwise engaged, that sort of thing. So she watches his face, tries to remember what was on the page, but nothing. She doesn’t remember a single thing that was on that page. She wasn’t trying to get a look, so she’s not sure she ever got more than a glance.
She throws out a few wild, random guesses. Qui-Gon nods along, and Obi-Wan gets a weird expression, and when they’re done…
Qui-Gon says, “hm.”
“What?” she asks.
“I want to check something the next time we encounter medical treatment,” Qui-Gon says. “Did you know you might be Force Sensitive?”
What.
--
Children from Mandalore rarely, if ever, go to the Jedi. They don’t even really get tested for that, aside from a handful of clans. Maybe it came up when Satine was a baby and too young to remember, but she did not know.
(There are children from Mandalorian space that go, sometimes, but not Mandalorians themselves. It’s a complicated subject.)
She lets the meddroid test her for it when they next see one.
“Mildly so,” Jinn tells her, looking over the results. “Bottom quartile of what we find among Jedi, but still enough that you would have been accepted had your family decided to give you to us. I don’t suppose you ever received any training?”
“I didn’t even know I had this,” she protests. Did Bo? Is it a family trait? Is it more common among siblings?
Her answer comes from Obi-Wan. He shrugs, and says, “that doesn’t mean you weren’t trained. Your parents could have kept it secret from you. It happens.”
Satine wants to protest that they wouldn’t, but she’s honestly not that sure. She understands operational security now, but she wouldn’t have when she was a child. She knows better than to do secret things without scanning each and every corner of a room for hidden cameras… but wouldn’t have been good enough to find everything just a few years earlier.
Most of Mandalore wouldn’t care. But there are pockets, often violent ones, that would have opinions.
Her mother died before she was old enough to be safely told. Her father…
Perhaps he thought she would need his full attention and several days to know. A vacation.
They haven’t had one of those since Jango died.
Well. ‘Died.’
“I don’t know,” she finally says. “I want to say they would have told me. But… I don’t know.”
Master Jinn nods. “Alright then. We can work on a few things when we have time that could help to keep you safe. Your instincts are already quite well-trained for short-term prescience, as with dodging the blaster bolts. We’ll see what else you show a talent for.”
“Okay,” Satine says, because she doesn’t know what else she could say. “That will likely be useful.”

TBHK Mischaracterization
Imo the leading cause behind mischaracterization in the TBHK fandom is that most fans either don’t understand the characters or they dislike them, so they subconsciously rewrite the story to fit their narrative. I don’t have as much of a problem with this when fans are upfront about it, if I don’t like it I just ignore it; but many fans don’t even realize they’re doing it
This type of rewriting is further allowed by the fact that the fanon TBHK characters don’t look like stereotypical fanon tropes. Fanon Kou isn’t an abusive womanizer, he’s a helpless puppy who can do no wrong. They can get away with that because technically that characterization is drawn from canon, Kou is a very kind person and a gentleman. But they run with those two traits until he loses all of the agency and nuance that he has in canon
Similarly, fanon Mitsuba isn’t an uwu soft boy who needs Kou’s help to tie his shoe. He’s a grumpy edgelord that goes out of his way to be rude to people. This is pulled from him having no filter in canon, but that’s where they end his characterization. They take away all of the softness that makes his character so unique. If someone said Mitsuba is the type to cry when his boyfriend ignores him, many fans would probably call that ooc, despite the fact that it’s canon. Because they don’t want to admit that Mitsuba is emotional, or that Kou is mean to a lot of people
To give the fandom the benefit of the doubt, I do think this comes from a fear of going in the opposite direction with fanon. They don’t want to turn Mitsukou into fanon Baku//Deku, so their solution is to swap the roles and make Mitsuba the fanon Bakugou and Kou the fanon Deku. Those should not be our only two options. We should be able to talk about these characters without reducing them to tropes
This goes for all the characters, they’re mischaracterized to be more digestible. Fans don’t have to put any work into analyzing Akane’s character if they reduce him to a creep. They don’t have to think too deeply about the Minamoto’s home life if they make Teru out to be an abuser. They don’t have to wrap their heads around a female character having an unlikable personality if they limit her to one half of a wlw ship. And so on, and so forth
I will also say that since romance is such a major part of TBHK, you’re going to have to put extra work into maintaining accurate characterization for fanon ships. That’s not to say you can’t enjoy fanon ships, I’m like the biggest multishipper ever, but when you’re writing them keep in mind that you’re removing love stories that are integral to a character’s arc and development. They can still be kept in character but try to imagine what they would be like if they didn’t have that development, or if the development happened differently
For instance, if Kou never fell in love with Mitsuba, he never would have learned how to be selfish. He wouldn’t know what it feels like to be relied on, and a lot of his significant character flaws would be erased. So how does that play out if he falls for Hanako or Nene instead? Does he have a similar arc or do things go a little differently? What problems would arise within those relationships that we don’t see with Mitsukou?? If you’re writing them pre-Mitsuba arc then you won’t run into as many problems, but after that Kou falling for someone else would change things up a bit. Just like Hanako and Nene falling for other people would majorly change the direction of the story. It can be done, but do it carefully
A lot of the time with fanon pairings I see fans just sort of try to copy and paste the dynamic of the canon ships. With Aoinene, I’ve seen people write Nene to be the only one who understands Aoi. That removes all of Aoi and Nene’s canon conflict and turns them into wlw AoiAoi. Let ships have their own dynamics and conflict!!
That’s not to say canon ships don’t require any effort for characterization ofc, I did start this off talking about how Mitsuba and Kou are mischaracterized by Mitsukou shippers. They just have an easier start because Kou and Mitsuba being in love with each other already maintains a prominent element of canon. It changes nothing about the direction of the story the way a fanon pairing would. Keep in mind tho, just because that one element remains close to canon doesn’t mean everything else is gonna go right. I see fans butcher the canon ships all the time lol
I obviously give more leeway to AUs but like, guys. Can we please sit down and read the manga😭
#i am by no means saying my own writing is flawless btw#but i think i keep the characters canon enough that i have some authority to speak on this#i obviously expand some elements of canon to be bigger than they are in the manga (the whole mitsukou typical sadomasochism thing)#for the most part tho i think the characters still act like themselves#this isn’t targeted at anyone in specific btw just some trends i’ve noticed#mischaracterization#canon vs fanon#tbhk#toilet bound hanako kun#jshk#jibaku shounen hanako kun#kou minamoto#sousuke mitsuba#aoi akane#akane aoi#teru minamoto#nene yashiro#aoinene#mitsukou

The Mis-Projections of Odalia
Odalia's fanon versus canon characterizations are fascinating to me because at every turn, the fandom takes what is actually a reasonable trait of Odalia and cranks it up to 11, even to the point where it's entirely incongruent with both the facts and the spirit of the show. Consider this a continuation of me questioning how bad a parent Odalia is. I will also say upfront here that I have point, beyond just bashing fandom's ability to remember what the show is, for why this matters but I need to get through the rest first.
So, how does the fandom, or most of them at least, characterize Odalia? Well, they make it that she is the root of all evil, abusive, racist, classist, doesn't care about anyone or anything but herself and is a capitalist who only ever sells snake oils and lies.
In the show... She's very few of these things and many of the rest are actually her being a part of the Isle's culture. Not its nebulous culture that's bad but like the ONE element of its culture that is ever consistent. We'll get to that though.
Is she evil? Honestly, by the metrics of the show, not really. She isn't an slaver like the publishing lizard. She doesn't kill people just for fun like the bounty hunters. She doesn't scam people (we'll get back to that) like Tibbles. She isn't entirely good mind you, she's scrupulous and is willing to break her own beliefs when emotions run high but compared to like ALL the other villains in TOH, she's weirdly tame. Now mind you, the villains of TOH are all charicatures based out of the 90s so the bar is ROCK FUCKING BOTTOM but rather than fantasy levels of evil, Odalia is boringly modern and constrained. Put her in the human realm and literally nothing of what she does changes, including making a killer robot. She is not the worst person on the Isles though.
How about being a bigot of any sort? Well, Dana is correct that as far as we see, Belos is the only bigot on the Isles. The closest that ever comes to it otherwise is Boscha scribbling Round Ears on Luz which as far as bigotry goes is the equivalent of calling a kid with glasses four eyes. No, instead, she is, like all of the Isles, merit based in how she treats people. Period. No ifs ands or buts.
I say this so firmly because people don't seem to understand that. Boscha is liked because she is strong and gets results. Amity was popular because she was top of her class and got results. Willow was disliked not because of any racial, religious, gender, etc. element, it was ENTIRELY from the fact that she fucked around, caused trouble and was entirely unskilled. By her own society, young Willow was an abject failure. She wouldn't listen to rules, even simple ones like 'go to class' in the flashback we see with Amity, and her skill with magic was genuinely abysmal until she swapped courses at which point she excelled and became popular.
So, who does Odalia dislike? Gus, Willow and Luz. One of these fuckers doesn't want to follow what he's a savant at and instead wants to chase cryptids by their societies standards, and also got his ass put into detention before breaking detention to get out, the next already had a history of fucking around and is associated with two troublemakers already meaning she is still trouble, and the third... The third is the apprentice to the OWL LADY. She practices WILD MAGIC. Everything about Luz is illegal WITHOUT getting into all the times Luz has broken the law, rules and just general common sense. By a meritocracy, what the Isles is, these three are the bottom of the barrel. It'd be like saying a parent was unreasonable for not wanting their kid to hang out with the sixteen year old drug dealer behind their school and skipping class to do so. She's pretty fucking valid honestly for not wanting Amity to associate with these people.
Is she abusive? This one is more up in the air but besides Escaping Expulsion, we never see consequences for disobeying her, minus when her kids break the law and try to sabotage their own family in Clouds on the Horizon for which they're ONLY GROUNDED instead of way worse. We also never really see her kids worry about punishment outside of, again, Escaping Expulsion where the twins mention not telling mom they're helping but also they don't try to stop Amity out of fear for her own safety. You know, like people who are used to strict retaliation for mistakes should be. Amity quits the covens and seems to have literally no repercussions from that. She can also just keep telling her mom to go fuck off about her hair. This is not the attitude of an abused child. Oh and on the side of Odalia gives zero shits about her family, first I'm going to say I'm entirely ignoring Clouds on the Horizon's bullshit of "I knew about Belos' plan" because there's no reason for her to have been told that, no need for her to have been told that and is such a needless escalation of her character being cartoonishly evil, ratcheting back into being at home with the rest of the villains of TOH, that it it is just a transcendentally bad piece of writing that should only be mocked. HOWEVER. The first time we literally ever hear about Odalia is a moment of kindness and care. She sends the twins to bring Amity her lunch to make sure she eats. That's... Caring. She didn't send them to scold her or punished her by not letting her eat, she sent her troublemaking twins to the library to feed her and probably in hopes that the twins might study a bit. That's a fine mom move. Without more that is clearly abuse, I see it as neutral at worst. The necklace is the same way. It's more secretive than sending her daughter texts but they all have cellphones, she can just text her and that's really all she ever does with the necklace. She never actually controls Amity with it. Without more to sustain allegations of abuse, I don't see it as anything particularly nasty.
And finally: Is she a scammer? I won't say she isn't a capitalist but TOH never tears down the whole economy and the Isles appears to be by volume 80% scammers or criminals of some sort when it comes to their shopkeeps so capitalism is still absolutely a thing. Is Odalia one of these though? No. The worst she does is exaggeration and that's just marketing. It's not false advertising, it's just painting your product the best you can. She never says the abomaton can take down an Emperor's Coven guard so a trained, albeit young but also top of her class, abomination witch being able to take down the abomaton 1.0? Yeah. that's not lying. It still would do a plenty good job protecting your home and kids from things most people want out of their home defense systems like burglars. It also factually can do everything else Odalia promised. We're shown that. Whether it does it well is up for debate but it DOES do everything legitimately with Amity up until she's supposed to feign being in danger which like... Did you want her to be actually in danger? Actually have her life at risk? Because that would be irresponsible especially to do to your OWN DAUGHTER. She only removes essentially the safety constraints once it's someone she gives no shits about and sees gain in their removal (and also is pissed.) That's not scamming people, that's a product demonstration. It was still able to grab Amity and lift her in the air with one arm, showing its strength. Also, everything else Odalia shows off as Blight Industry tech is legit, much to Luz's detriment.
SO. As you can see, the fandom is essentially dead wrong when it comes to Odalia. They took kernals of truth, that she's a strict mom, capitalist, judgemental, etc. and blew them up to be as bad as they could be. Why did they do this though? Why is this even important?
Well, it's because the show WANTS you to take her that far. Amity doesn't actually do much to redeem herself, especially to those she wrongs. She NEVER does anything but a bare minimum apology to Willow for YEARS of bullying that Odalia didn't ask her to do. Odalia just asked her to stop being friends with Willow. But hey, since all Amity does is an apology, that Willow only kind of accepts, literally stating they're not friends still... What do you do about that? Standing up to Boscha is for Luz after all. Standing up to her mom is for Luz. She never even bashes the ideologies she used to have to show her change, just that she was nebulously wrong but she's better now without any real sacrifice or meaningful acts of redemption. So... As a viewer, what the fuck do you do with that?
Edit: Someone pointed out that she doesn't actually apologize. She does say she was wrong when she was younger which is actually good for redemption BUUUUUT she claims she'll make Boscha and everyone else stop bullying Willow. Then Winging it Like Witches happens where Amity doesn't give a fuck about what Boscha is doing until it is focus fired on Luz making her whole speech there just a bold faced lie. Good job Amity.
Well, you do what the show did and scapegoat people. Why is it okay that Amity abandons her friends like she did Willow so many years ago? Because they're evil and bad people, or Boscha is at least, despite Boscha doing nothing Amity hasn't already in the show. But she was only like that because of her mom. Her awful, abusive, controlling, classist...
Wait a second. Do you dear reader see the problem?
This is why the projection is required. TOH actually is really bad at redemption arcs, namely that it doesn't know what redemption means besides no longer being a dick, and so you actually no way to forgive the characters for what they did by what they do. As such, you need excuses. The people the fandom hates the most are usually those scapegoats, especially for Amity. Why is Boscha worse than Belos when all she is is a bully? Because people claim she was the reason Amity was a bully and shift the fact that Amity was Willow's main bully to Boscha, despite all evidence to the contrary. Why do they make Odalia worse than all other villains in media combined? Because otherwise, their blorbo, the lesbian that helped make TOH as popular as it was, the one who was endlessly praised for having a transcendentally written character arc... Is never redeemed nor actually has much of an arc or depth to her character. She NEEDS to have all these serious elements put upon her through her mom or else... She's just a mean girl who fell in love and decided to care about one person and be a LITTLE better to other people. Remember, at the point of Labyrinth Runners, an entire season after Understanding Willow, Amity does not recognize that she was wrong that Willow is weak despite Willow's entire character for the past season being defined by how overpowered she. Amity very clearly has not been paying attention or caring about anyone about Luz and that's not what a good person does? You care because caring is the correct thing to do.
And I care because I would like her to be written better. I would like her to be more than what she was. I would like the whole show to be. But... Odalia isn't what you think she is and that matters because it means Amity isn't either. The show isn't either. See you next tale.

Gem is Peryton (fictional bird-deer mix) hybrid, not a deer hybrid like most assume. She keeps it a secret, not because of self-confidence issues but to see how long it takes the other Hermits to figure out her true nature.
Pearl knows but Impulse doesn’t, not until a Zedvancement required them to swap species. (In-universe version of the fanon swap art trend)
Impulse is more than a little concerned when he wakes up with wings, talon hands, and a taste for meat.
-💫anon
Maybe, he thinks, Zed's swappy-thing-contraption malfunctioned and gave him traits from multiple hermits? The antlers are clearly Gem, but he's never seen her with wings or talons... Grian, maybe? And the cravings...... Cleo?? He is very confused and would like to go back to normal, please.

You want to know what I think is one of the craziest bits of fanon in the Hetalia fandom?
The existence of the 2p! characters. Or rather what we did with them. Here's what I mean.
The 2p! characters started off as recolored drawings of the main characters by Himaruya, where he also created gender-bent designs of the main cast, along with alternate coloring. He allegedly joked and said that they looked like they could be part of an evil organization or something.
He also did some possible alternate sketches of some of the other characters but never finalized them. These characters started to be called 2p! characters, as in "second player", like in a video game.
But what's truly insane and all-around amazing is what the fandom did with this information. Because we didn't just sit down, look at the drawings, churn out a few fanarts, and go along our merry way.
Oh goodness no...
We took these sketches by Himaruya and ran with them.
Next thing you know, the fandom began creating their own versions of the 2p! characters, even taking the gender-bent recolors and swapping their genders back to better resemble the main cast, but not exactly. We even created personalities for each and every one of them. While there are common personality traits shared by many of them, they are also incredibly unique with their own personality traits and quirks.
And the personalities we've given to each character were done by the fandom largely agreeing on certain information. Some examples are...
2p!America is a vegan, animal-loving delinquent.
2p!France is a clinically depressed smoker and alcoholic who believes love is fake.
2p!Italy has the persona of a mafia boss and is lowkey a sadist.
2p!England is a happy-go-lucky baker who makes sweets that may or may not contain human remains.
And the list goes on and on. We've made our own designs and personalities that the fandom largely has agreed upon, and these alternate versions of the characters are so dang popular that they might as well have their own fandom. Which, to be honest, they do.
They're so popular that they even have their own fanarts, fanfictions, cosplays, etc.
The Hetalia fandom literally went off and created its own sub-fandom. And this isn't the only sub-fandom that's branched off of the main Hetalia fandom. There's plenty more out there. The reason the 2p! characters are so wild to me is because the fandom really did take a handful of official and unofficial drawings with no canonical ties and went off to the races with them.
I'll probably go over different parts of Hetalia fanon and the sub-fandoms that branched off of Hetalia, but I needed to talk about the 2p!s, because their existence is just wild to me.
And I love them.

Hello! May I suggest a Vex Doc for the fanon trait swap? :3 Have a great day!!
Hii!! Vex Doc be upon ye!
I didn't want to just give him his hand back sinse I heard that there's some lore there?? And it doesn't seem like there's an arm underneath the tech, it just looks like a sci-fi prosthetic to me. But it didn't really make sense to not accommodate to it at all, so I thought well, sinse we established that the vex magic does all sorts of weird things, why don't give him some sort of telekinesis so he can hold things with it more easily .) He's also permanently stuck between normal and angry phases because it brings back the red eye/altered part of the face from original design. Have a great day too!!

You see, I feel like people try to make a big deal out of people not liking when canonically male characters being a trans woman or the opposite, but I have a reason for why I just… cannot like it.
The whole thing is that at that point, the character is literally entirely fanon. And I know that is kind of the point of fandoms sometimes, but it gets on my nerves when people do, because it is just an OC at that point.
Many times, people try to keep very few or none of the traits that the character had, and also… it just changes the whole story.
I will make all of the canon female characters a trans woman any day. I will make all of the canon male characters a trans man any day. But I cannot make a canon male character a trans woman or a canon female character a trans male because it just doesn’t jive with me
It is nothing about being misogynistic. It is because I want to keep some form of the original character, and changing characters that way just makes them seem like OCs to me. To me, I would rather read a fic with an actual OC in it than when one of the characters is trans-ed the other way just because it doesn’t personally fit my view of those characters
I am all fine with those characters having a bit of a feminine side or a masculine side, but I don’t particularly enjoy the entire gender switch of canon characters genders unless it’s a gender swap AU.
It is just a personal thing. I don’t enjoy it. And I am allowed to not enjoy it. I am allowed to not enjoy it because it just isn’t my thing. It doesn’t make me a misogynist if I don’t, it just means that I have my own opinions, and everyone has opinions
People are allowed to like characters being trans-ed (?) to be the opposite gender, but people can also enjoy characters being trans-ed from an original gender to their canon one.
You don’t call people misogynistic just because they don’t fancy the first one.
They aren’t spreading hate (and if they are, kick em out. They make fandom an unsafe space)
#reg’s things#no tags because I will be attacked I fear#but also… i feel like this is a valid argument#I don’t deserve to be called misogynistic just because I don’t enjoy something the way other people do#it simply isnt my thing#if you don’t like don’t read#it’s a simple concept#don’t like don’t interact

ctommy cranboo for swap???
Tommy and Ranboo fanon trait swap!!
These were really fun to do. Some common traits for Ranboo were being very tall, a mob hybrid, having heterochromia, being drawn in fancy, usually masculine clothing, having some visible ties to Tubbo, having long hair, and being well put together. I chose to portray Tommy as a mooshroom hybrid because that seemed like it would be fun.
Some common traits for Tommy were that he was tall but a little boxier, often drawn in a cardigan, often drawn with a ponytail, sometimes drawn as human and sometimes as avian, and being a little rattier.
Bonus thing:
I think in a universe where they got unexpectedly trait-swapped would have a fun time being small enough to get surprise kisses and enveloping hugs. I think Tubbo would like using Tommy's horns to yank him to eye level.

Update (1/12/24): updated mostly the hollows with a more accurate version of the au rn, will come back in the future to update the AvM sticks
Hi folks I'm back with another weird au, because I have no self control. What au is it this time?
A "swap" au.
It's really weird because half of them came from me rolling a d20 and praying i can make them make sense so please bare with me.
With that, let's start with -
torment (Originally The Chosen One):
- This version is basically fanon Dark who ate a Victim and Mango sundae. Trust me it'll make sense
- torment was made first, and was tormented (hah) for a long time by Alan.
- Alan made another stickman (FREEDOM MENTION) as his friend. They became close (almost canon Chodark/p close) before Alan deleted Freedom since he was trying to help torment escape.
- this was the last straw for them as torment proceeded to trick Alan into unlocking his chains and then broke the computer, allowing him to escape.
-he was still pissed and kinda depressed over Freedom's death so he continued his rampage across the web, slowly trying to find a way to take revenge against all cursors permanently
- At some point he meets this version of Dark, adopts him and set off to become the greatest terrorists the outernet has ever seen
- HE NEARLY ACCOMPLISH HIS GOAL TOO, DESPITE FIGHTING ALAN, TSF, CG+TPC+TCA. THIS CRAZY MAN-
Some fun facts about torment!:
- after everything is said and done, he decides to go by another nick of mento. SF thinks it's cute
- at some point he manages to find a way to go into Minecraft and he uses it as a stress reliever. What kind is up to you :3
- he's so chaotic I wasn't even kidding about the fanon Dark comparison. He will see a happy family chilling and will just divebomb on them
- he's well aware of the fact that Alan messed up his name when creating him, he was supposed to have an "-ed" at the end but Alan pressed enter too early
- a couple pre-escape things I mentioned in my fic but yea torment didn't think of himself as a stick for a while and stole Freedom's pronouns when he died. He also has a bad ankle for being dragged around so much.
- He's mentally ill 20 but physically 18. Freedom was like physically 1 years old before dying but he was mentally around the same age as torment back then (so like, 12?)
I haven't fully figured out how torment plans to carry out their plan but there will be a "King sees Purple as his son" moment for them, except this time it's Dark. Speaking of Dark-
The Second Fool (Originally The Dark Lord):
- TSF "swapped" with Purple but borrows a couple of traits from Victim (I'm sobbing why did the dice and I decide this)
- Alan made him next, meaning to replace torment with a more cunning but weaker version of him (so no powers rip)
- He gave TSF a mission code (still deciding on the exact one) which basically gaslights him into thinking his only purpose in life is to fight Alan
- So when Alan deletes the poor dude, he feels unworthy and shit like that
- he kinda stays in there for a good year, just floating around
- At some point, he manages to escape the Void and ends up in the outer net, where torment finds him and picks him up
- torment convinced TSF to join him, and TSF, thinking this would show Alan that he would be worthy enough again, agrees
- during their terrorism arc, TSF slowly realises that terrorising people probably isn't the right thing to do and that this wouldn't get Alan's attention back to him so he tries to stop torment. tor, the revengeful dumbass, doesn't listen.
- at some point during this au's version of showdown, TSF tried stopping tor themself, but got punted away before eventually getting blasted by tor's fire (I'm still figuring out the exact details bare with me)
- He got saved by one of the TSCs after torment found his unconscious body
Now some fun facts! Not a lot since I'm waiting till I write more of them but for now:
- being in the void really fucks you up, and SF isn't any different. He doesn't really know how to interact with people, often coming off a tinge insane and scary sometimes
- they're really blunt too. Which makes interactions with Arrival and Current kinda awkward.
- he's a sweetheart under... everything. Yea, he's really nice, especially to Arrival! Wonder if there's any reason for that?
- doesn't know what to think of torment after everything. They still believe 'ment thinks of them as a servant, and he doesn't feel like breaking his heart again
- can see the code of everyone around them, which makes bringing someone to the Void awfully easy since he still has some of his own code edited from the Void. Pretty easy to adjust someone else's to match theirs.
Now onto the 2 TSCs (why do I do this to myself), starting with-
Meet, The Chosen Arrival! (Originally The Second Coming):
- simultaneously Second, Dark and Freedom/Chosen. I'm sorry myself
- an accident (IM SO SORRY I DID NOT KNOW HOW ELSE TO PHRASE IT)
- it kinda follows canon, Alan doodled this little guy, left them alone for a while and when he came back Arrival n co. was messing around on Facebook.
- however, this time, when Alan deletes CG and then Arrival, Arrival went fucking ballistic and unleashed his powers on the pc, nearly destroying it in the process
- in a panic, Alan drew his last stick on accident again, this time being:
The Peaceful Current!! (Originally victim):
- Current is swapped with Second!!
- Current has this really calming effect to them for some reason. To this day no one can figure out how she manages to calm Arrival down.
- when they were created, the tab she was in had the wall between it and Arrival's broken down, and Arrival crashed in, planning to destroy everything in the computer.
- but when they saw Current, they kinda just froze. Like they were buffering. Current, for whatever reason, decided to hug Arrival. Arrival then crashed, breaking out into sobs as the two kinda just stood there.
- Alan tried deleting Arrival at that moment of vulnerability, but Current, seeing his cursor move, started speaking and pleading for Alan to hear them out. Alan, shocked to find out that the sticks were actually sentient and not just little desktop creatures he could fight against, heard them out.
- from here it continues from canon, Alan letting the gang chill on his pc, Current found out that she was a great artist, and Arrival decided to start learning how to make tools and stuff for CG to defend themselves.
Some fun facts about these two:
- Arrival fucking hates torment lmao, it's actually really funny how hard they hate him. Current on the other hand doesn't mind torment, as she can see him trying to change
- Arrival does not like going by Chosen, so they prefer to be called by their last name. Peaceful doesn't mind being called either of them, but they're mostly referred to as Current because she likes to copy her brother
- both of them actually have powers, the problem is that Current doesn't know about them, while Arrival refuses to use them. This makes Ava S3 very fun for me :3
Now you might be wondering, who could be the victim in this story. Now bare with me,
Purple.
- little shit got orphaned so hard she became spiteful and decided to start a company just to prove her dad wrong.
- company got way too successful and she let the power go to her head.
- one day she saw a video of Chosen and decided she needed him to be in her team. So she decided to kidnap Dark.
(Idk what else to add I'm still figuring stuff out)
Alright, you might reply, but if purple is busy being victim, then who's taking their place in AvM?
You see, this is where the "swap" part of this au kinda starts veering away. Because, haha,
It's Gold.
- Basically what happened was when Gold got stuck in Minecraft, he kinda became a Minecraft entity like Herobrine. So he just wandered around the world aimlessly before coming across a village.
- AvM 9&10 happened and Purple betrayal happens but this time it's Gold and he didn't go for the egg because he wanted to prove it to his dad, but because he heard rumours around the egg and wanted to test it out.
Now you're thinking, alright, if Gold's purple, then King has to be someone else, right?
To that I show you an image of President Haltmann and Susie from Planet Robobot. Iykyk. (Yes King is still King, he just has amnesia and tbh Gold doesn't really look the same after the fair.)
I'm still deciding on whether I want to swap CG and Mercs personalities but that's all I got for now!!
#losing my mind while making this#the d20 hated me#alan becker#animator vs animation#animation vs minecraft#ava the second coming#ava the dark lord#ava the chosen one#ava victim#purple avm#avm king#avm gold#wow thats a lot of tags#ava au#swap au#havent decided on the name yet uh#this was worse than my pjsk swap au man#cyanwrites#DR!au

new jk fashion au refs!! (unless they were already posted and i missed them) they all look so cool and interesting and i am getting a few ideas about drawings maybe
hello #1 jk fashion au fan piogsailean!!! no infact all these new refs and characters werent posted yet hehe I WAS HIDING TJEM FROM THE WORLD 😈😈
actually i wanted to post them when i made the ask blog but i havent gotten to that (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞ i really wanna work on getting that ask blog up tho over this summer after all my mtt week prep and little vacation where i cannot draw next week (coming up with an interesting comic to introduce the au to people is hard,,,,,)
anyways: i already posted jk mtt, the dt twins, ink and swap but i never posted anybody else :P error, passive, cross, epic, fell, delta, geno and outer are all new :33 here's a slighty more detailed explanation of their tropes hehe
passive nightmare: so normal nightmare is a tad bit caught up in her own fantasy of being some evil god or something but when she's not putting up that facade (usually at home) she's reaaaally bitter and stuff,,, not much else to say honestly its inspired by that one cream au i think where lux is there and nightmare is uncorrupted and just a prick (i wanted someone to be an asshole because fell and and horror werent FULLY committed to it :3)
error: og error is really isolated with all the antivoid shenanigans and socially awkward so i wanted to keep that with jk error because my silly :3 she does virtual school and stuff and also kinda has access to all of the school's electronics because shes GOATED (i think i've hinted at this a couple times before hehe)
cross: in america (where i am) there's a program called JROTC which is basically a class you can take in high school that's like fake military training. since cross was in the royal guard and people depict him as the focused training type i thought it would be funny to make jk cross a jrotc kid because there's a joke that jrotc kids act like theyre ACTUALLY in the military and take the class wayyyy too seriously
epic: really how else can i explain it she's 2016 cringe incarnate. she never moved on from the mlg trickshots and deep fried memes 🙏
fell: i always had the idea to make her a delinquent type character but now her bit is that she does like TINIEST shit ever like idk dropping a pencil and all of a sudden everybody is like OOOHH OMG FELL IS SUCH A DELINQUENT.....WATCH OUT GUYS.....and theyre srs about it 😭 (only people immune to her shenanigans are dust, cross, and geno. why? idk they just seem like the type. dust and geno play along with the bit tho while cross is confused as to why everyone is over reacting 💀)
delta: now now i know that delta's main trait isnt Justice its BRAVERY but like i watched ultratale or something and og delta is like going around universes stopping crime or something because idk doesnt want what happened to his universe to happen again. which. is kinda justice idk what to say to you so i just made delta a reaally over the top uhh class representative trope :3 (she dogs on anybody for doing the slightest thing wrong (its all /lh tho trust))
geno: now i had NO idea what to do for geno because ngl i love aftertale ive read it multiple times i just didnt know what trope to slap onto geno,,,, so i leaned into poking fun of fanon for a bit :3 geno's not REALLY a tsundere its just one big elaborate prank 💀 introduces herself and is like "s-so what's your name....Baka...." and she has to pause to take a breath and not laugh. i just think its really funny :3 behind the joke geno is pretty chill :3 she will deny any accusations about the bit tho ("what bit? i'm not pretending or something... baka........")
outer: ok so outer is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from outertale normally because normal outer? NO INTERESTING PERSONALITY!!! BORING!!! i prefer to make outer based off an idol because i just think the stars and space theme could be used better and also there's not a popular idol sans au (that isnt that one idol au.....but thats a whole different mv) anyways since outer is an idol here (also error is a fangirl for her) i wanted to make her be sooo wistful and nostalgic about school ("ah......dodgeball......this is so school core...... *gets hit in the head with a ball* ah.......the school nurse.........what a sight......")
anyways design wise i do quite love all the new designs :3 they all have their own unique variations of the classic uniforms.....it makes the mtt look bland in comparison heheh (but that just makes mtt stand out more!!) i srsly want to lock in on that ask blog i just gotta get focused on jk fashion au again 💔 THANKS FOR THE ASK THE GOAT (you)
#tricule asks#i got rid of all the old jk fashion au posts because i wanted to make new ones on the ask blog#yeah just checked i privated them all so theyre still up but only i can see them.......#i wanted to make jk fashion au just more streamlined and not all over the place and focused on the humor instead of anything else :3

Transcript: If SwapSwap was based off of Fanon underswap therefore meaning SwapSwap sans for example would be based off of a underswap papyrus that is 100% undertale sans and has no new personality traits I would still say SwapSwap sans has the personality of swap papyrus and NOT undertale sans. because no matter what I see SwapSwap as it's own thing. which is why Fanon SwapSwap being based off of Fanon underswap is not a problem for me. but I do hate how certain Fanon SwapSwap veriants have other issues.

plural coded thing that im playing with that i cant even convey in words properly but like
so
dirk0 made AR when they were 13, thus splitting dirk0 into dirk1 and dirk2
they labled themselves as such: dirk1 and dirk2. dirk and AR. dirk0, pre-split, doesnt exist as they(plural) did at this point. the closest figure we have to dirk0 is ultimate dirk who is aware of all of his splinters and 'absorbed' their memories/thoughts/feelings as his own. he is now DIRK, a culmination of, figuratively, all (or most) written depictions of dirk strider in the homestuck canon, seen, unseen, and implied (and beyond. bdumtiss)
but the colour distinction between dirk1 and dirk2, dirk and AR, VERY LITERALLY DOES NOT MATTER. we are INTRODUCED to this character (as a whole, conceptually) with AR typing in ORANGE. thats the first bit of dialogue we see from dirk. the swap to red text was for convenience and for better clarity in pesterlogs.
what im playing with is the percieved distinction between dirk and AR to even begin with. dirk1 doesnt have to be orange, dirk1 could be red to dirk2. they could both be orange. they ARE both orange. dirk2 will always be the same guy as dirk1 in canon. where dirk2 really crosses over into red territory is when he changes himself fundamentally- being sprited into ARquius makes him fully, actually red. hal in fanon choosing to permanently go by hal instead of dirk makes him fully, actually red. being red implies moving AWAY from 'true dirkness', which will always be orange.
what happens when AR doesnt want to go by hal? which was a throwaway joke reference to begin with? who gets labeled then as red, as a non-dirk entity? and what traits or developments have to happen within them for either of them to decide that about the other? if they live, they're gonna grow. they're gonna develop as people. at the end of the day, who exactly judges a dirk by his dirkness?

Ok guyz one more little rant before I go to bed lmfao
Can we talk about "Blueberry" (swap) for a sec
I mean they've already been talked about so many times, but I just wanna express my opinion real quick
I love canon swap, hell, canon papyrus too. I like how most people try and incorporate both Swap and Papyrus' canon traits (all caps, goals, etc) in their works now.
Canon is my beloved but I also love fanon....
Guys wait no hear me out on this
Fanon isn't just "uwu-ifying" characters or making them into this sigma Alpha role or whatever the wattpad side has been up to, it's basically the interpretation of fans and how they see the characters themselves
Some people manage to forget that it is FAN-on. As in, for fans, not literally canon to the universe.
There are a LOT and I mean a LOT of bad cases were fanon affects the stories and the people writing them. (I'm pretty sure The creator of Swap is an example, but thank god we've grown up over the years)
But like, there's also a lot of good things with fanon! Example are the cool fangames that come out just because people are passionate about undertale.
(Also fanon dream is better than canon dream fight me I'm sorry)
Tldr: It's okay to like fanon and be cringe as long as it's not hurting anyone or basically doing a bad thing !!
This was supposed to be a Swap rant but then it became a canon + fanon rant but I am not complaining
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk and I will now wait for the tomatoes, torches and pitchforks going at my direction
#undertale#sans#sans au#orchid talks#sans undertale#au#swap sans#canon vs fanon#i love both#i love being cringe#i am cringe but i am free#fight me

@lesbianmckinnonn inspired me i’m sharing my fandom unpopular opinions:
sirius black is a complicated, cruel, loyal, and reckless character. he acts first and thinks later when it comes to his actions, while simultaneously being a whirlwind of emotions and overthinking. sirius is COMPLEX and i love him
sirius and severus are two sides of the same coin. sure, severus is methodical while sirius is reckless. but they are both cruel and angry, with complex motivations turning from the way they grew up in favor of the people they met along the way. they made mistakes, they made wrong choices, they act on emotions not thoughts.
regulus could have a lot of texture and drama, but it’s definitely weird to me that instead of doing that we’ve gotten a lot of sirius’s original characterization attached to him. i have a lot of hcs about him! hell, i’m writing a whole fic about him & sirius!!! however, i think that a lot of the fandom has kind of boiled down sirius and then attached a bunch of cast off traits to him.
if i go thru the dorlene tag one more time and see a bunch of posts that are about all of the male characters in this fandom i’m bringing a Gun™️
i think that the way that wolfstar has been changed over the years in fandom is based on an influx of people who are basing their takes on fanworks, without rooting their understanding in canon. fanon is a place to play, so i’m not judging, HOWEVER i think by ignoring or sidestepping the canon for these Casanova remus x helpless puppy sirius portrayals people are robbing themselves of texture and complexities in their work. i think that engaging in fanon without referencing any of the flaws of the characters robs writers of writing things that excite them
i think that we all as fandom creators need to take a look at how we treat our characters as they relate to our own internal biases. it’s not lost on me that i only started publishing dorlene in the last few weeks because i know they won’t be engaged with in the way my wolfstar fics have been. i know that peter gets left out of the marauders equation a lot because he’s ugly. i know that lily is a less popular partner for james then regulus because lily is a woman.
that being said, i also know that as queer creators, we are more likely to write queer couples. we are also more likely to be critical of queer couples. i am keeping that in mind as i write this post
sirius may love remus, but he will always pick james. sirius’s loyalty is to james first, and everyone else comes in second. it was one of the reasons that they thought pete should be the secret keeper, because everyone knew that sirius would be the first choice for the role. it’s also why (i believe) sirius and remus stopped trusting each other, which lead to everyone believing that sirius had swapped sides. he never told remus, his loyalty was to james, not remus.
#anyways that’s all for now#wolfstar#sirius black#remus lupin#marauders era#moony and padfoot#my shit#marauders opinions#unpopular opinions
