Extra, extra read all about it!
Lol never have I stayed up late for a peice, gosh dang.
Based on the Farewell Wanderlust AU by @wolfythewitch, go follow. Now. I'll wait.
Just the city getting news of Phil becoming vigilante, this ain't Canon but I'm guessing rumors would spiral like crazy if a superhero isn't entirely doing superhero stuff anymore. I dunno if Phil was too young in the au when he switched but I gave him semi-long golden locks.
What if he had the white stripes in the old uniform, but scrapped them for the vigilante life?
Or something idk
Also I think phil might have a mask or anything to protect his Identity when he was a superhero but ehhhh...I finally made a good face.

Time: 3+ hours
Program: Autodesk Sketchbook (which I am glad that they don't keep the 3 layer rule anymore cuase holy hecc was that tough)
#farewell wanderlust au#philza minecraft#dsmp#superhero#is this like the marvel universe cuase wholly moley am I in#newspaper#extra extra read all about it#bueno you didnt hear this from me...but some little raven told me...

Maker Media goes broke
https://hackaday.com/2019/06/07/maker-media-ceases-operations/
Over the years we’ve had the dubious honor of bidding farewell to numerous companies that held a special place in the hearts of hackers and makers. We’ve borne witness to the demise of Radio Shack, TechShop, and PrintrBot, and even shed a tear or two when Toys “R” Us shut their doors. But as much as it hurt to see those companies go, nothing quite compares to this. Today we’ve learned that Maker Media has ceased operations.
Between the first issue of Make magazine in 2005 and the inaugural Maker Faire a year later, Maker Media deftly cultured the public face of the “maker movement” for over a decade. They didn’t create maker culture, but there’s no question that they put a spotlight on this part of the larger tech world. In fact, it’s not an exaggeration to say that the shuttering of Maker Media could have far reaching consequences that we won’t fully understand for years.
While this news will surely come as a crushing blow to many in the community, Maker Media founder and CEO Dale Dougherty says they’re still trying to put the pieces together. “I started the magazine and I’m committed to keeping that going because it means something to a lot of people and means something to me.” At this point, Dale tells us that Maker Media is officially in a state of insolvency. This is an important distinction, and means that the company still has a chance to right the ship before being forced to declare outright bankruptcy.
In layman’s terms, the fate of Make magazine and Maker Faire is currently uncertain...
https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/07/make-magazine-maker-media-layoffs/
Financial troubles have forced Maker Media, the company behind crafting publication MAKE: magazine as well as the science and art festival Maker Faire, to lay off its entire staff of 22 and pause all operations. TechCrunch was tipped off to Maker Media’s unfortunate situation which was then confirmed by the company’s founder and CEO Dale Dougherty.
For 15 years, MAKE: guided adults and children through step-by-step do-it-yourself crafting and science projects, and it was central to the maker movement. Since 2006, Maker Faire’s 200 owned and licensed events per year in over 40 countries let attendees wander amidst giant, inspiring art and engineering installations....
“Maker Media Inc ceased operations this week and let go of all of its employees — about 22 employees” Dougherty tells TechCrunch. “I started this 15 years ago and it’s always been a struggle as a business to make this work. Print publishing is not a great business for anybody, but it works…barely. Events are hard . . . there was a drop off in corporate sponsorship.” Microsoft and Autodesk failed to sponsor this year’s flagship Bay Area Maker Faire....

hm it looks like star wars resistance will be 2D not CGI animation... 2D is probs cheaper for disney lmao. farewell autodesk maya i will miss you. i liked the animation style of clone wars and rebels, it won’t feel the same.
idk i guess i'll wait until the character designs are revealed to pass judgment. i’m intrigued by how disney avoided using pronouns when describing the pilot main character... will we have a female protagonist??? [eye emojis]

I thought about doing a lot of editing on this in autodesk before uploading but 1. I kept putting it off, 2. This is a more accurate look at what my sketchbook looks like. Lots of pasted - in doodles and junk with journal-esque captions. Not pretty, but art often isn’t pretty fresh off the page.
Anyway, these two are fox characters, named Alphonse and Dotty, that are no longer part of my main story concept about foxes. Originally my story was more of a romantic comedy with lots of laughs and these two were a secondary couple to the main characters. With romance now only being a small part of the story and more emphasis on adventure and the environment (not to mention EXTENSIVE character rewrites), they no longer have a place in the story.
Perhaps they might make a cameo in the graphic novel if it ever gets finished. Maybe they’ll even show up in the background of other stuff. But for now this sketch is a fond farewell to a generally nice dog with a taste for fun and a giggling vixen who knows what she wants.

“You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul.” – George Bernard Shaw
Tommy E.
A large part of November found my art classes engaged in Digital Art Making with their iPads. One of the projects was Self Portraits accomplished through the rotoscoping (tracing outlines) method traditionally used in animation. It has been our good fortune to have been graced with a student teacher in her Field Study III practicum (one full day each week) this fall. Her name is Shaina and her Fine Arts concentration a few years ago was Photography. Shaina’s practicum requires that she plan and execute a lesson, and lucky for us she chose to include photography.
Shaina
Shaina led the classes in observation and discussion about photographic Selfies vs. Self Portraits – the implied in-the-moment and marking time and place nature of Selfies, and the thoughtful, purposeful intent of Self Portraits. She gave examples of both, focusing mainly on the self portraiture of both women and men, people of color, the serious, the sardonic, and the soulful. It was a wonderful way to weave art history with art appreciation and art making.
Students began by taking a few photographs of themselves with iPads and then imported them into Autodesk Sketchbook as a base layer. On layers added above the photo, students first outlined their image and then painted using a variety of brushes, color mixing, and blending. When the painting was complete, students deleted the photo layer and were encouraged to consider adding color or a different photo for the background.
Here are some of the self-portraits with Artist Statements that can be found in our online Artsonia gallery here: https://www.artsonia.com/museum/gallery.asp?project=1660297

Usually I make myself stop at choosing about ten pieces from all the excellent artwork, but with this project, I had a hard time stopping. Please indulge me and enjoy these additional self portraits:

As we bid farewell to Shaina who is moving on to her next practicum experience after the holidays, it is clear she has had a positive, aesthetic impact on the Miscoe Hill fifth and sixth grade students. Just look at this artwork!
