i love when media has in universe swear words, Xenoblade 3 is a good example of this. they've got words like "snuff" and "spark" instead of "fuck" and "shit". it makes sense within the plot, not only for censoring (cause its a Nintendo game) but because in universe those aren't common. in other words, nobody really fucks in that world

they are still British, though, so they definitely say "bloody hell" and "arse" and other British things

ooku really sticks out to me re: arrange marriage romance because you have two people placed in personal and political roles, against their will, who become the only allies the other has in a setting of rivals trying to kill them, until the same circumstances that brought them together bring them a tragic end, and this repeats with new couples for generation after generation. almost like a sibling relationship in the purported equality under power (the ways in which these shoguns themselves wield power being understated)
