A Hard Earned Rest

Her voice echoed through the valley, the gentle thrum of its timbre harmonizing with each practiced pluck of her instrument.

The flowers seemed to sway and move with her, as if they were in a secret, silent communion. And she, head bowed and eyes closed, was completely lost in the worship of the world around her.

He burst out laughing when the breeze kicked up, blowing some of her soft grey hair into her mouth, causing Eva to splutter in the midst of insulting him. "Am I now?"

"Yes," Eva spat, pawing strands of hair off her lips. "And you've been a boor as long as I've known you. Light is refusing to let you return, you know."

"I expected as much." Renaux hesitated only a moment, a pause so subtle that anyone else would've mistaken it. "Has Meli said anything?"

"Even you aren't willing to have the Warrior of Light upset with you, hm?" She crossed her arms. "...but no, she hasn't said anything. Most of her time has been spent with the actual Scions."

Renaux laughed again. "Are you disgruntled, my little pocket healer?"

Eva's hands planted solidly on her hips as she glared at him. "I taught you how to do the healing you're barely capable of," she snapped, tail beginning to lash.

"Indeed, and I have displayed gratitude numerous times. Your lessons have come quite in handy of late," he said, a smile lingering on his face. "A friend, indeed, Eva Fairdeath. Your lessons kept Capricia from killing me twice."

"...remind me to apologize to her later for doing anything that keeps you alive."

"Of course, Eva. I will pass your thoughts on to her."

TataruWeek2025 | Day 3: Vacation

The two workaholics business owners eventually heard word of their Warrior's triumphs in Tural and agreed to a surprise trip to say hello to their comrades still lingering and see the sights. Unsurprising, a chunk of it got taken up by learning from the Pelupelus in their own businesses. Much to Eva's exasperation.

"Dear diary, went to Gyr Abania to investigate rumours of special alloy metal that I can use for research. A Garlean warmachina refused to let me leave its hideout peacefully, so we engaged in glorious combat. Garlond Ironworks took over the investigation and I didn't get any special alloy metal, but at least I got some gil out of it. I don't know how adventurers live on such meagre salary."
