Day 21: Late summer, sunny
I have learned two things today. One, that I am in desperate need of battle training, and two, that Cascoon are in general rather onery, and should be left alone.
I thank Arceus for the help of my little Shinx. He performed admirably in his first battle today, despite my utter helplessness, and managed to free me from a rather sticky situation. Quite literally sticky, do not misunderstand me.
Wurmple are an interesting species for their divergent evolution, so I have spent many days over the course of my time in the Survey Corps studying them. Naturally, where Wurmple live, so do their evolutions. So it goes that, in my search for Wurmple today I met several Silcoon, who seem to be content to leave you be as long as you return the favor. Cascoon, however, I have learned are surprisingly defensive and will very willingly trap you in the sticky webbing with which they construct their cocoons if you are threateningly close. I was apparently threateningly close.
The day ended when I became so entrapped in silk I could no longer move, struggled for some minutes to get my hand around to press the button to free my Shinx, and then begged the confused little thing to chase off the Cascoon I had enraged. When he had succeeded in that, winning the battle despite my confusing commands, he returned to me, and chewed through the silk that was nearly embedded in my clothing.
Footnote: I am deeply embarrassed both at my complete lack of any battling prowess and the state my hair is in currently as I walk back to town. I have no choice but to ask someone in town to aid in making me at least a little less hopeless.
I have decided I will call my Shinx Jorah.

Oh man, now I have brain worms about this AU.
They'd have to remember the exact date they were pulled away to Hisui by Arceus. And then, they have to make a choice. Either they pretend to be missing to explain their changes, which would subject their friends and family through fear an terror and grief. Or they just show up after their 'old' self was teleported away. But they have lived for centuries now, have lived through horrible things they only knew from history books. Things changed for them, things changed them.
Akari was ripped from inside her bedroom at night, so she either has to break into her own room, or pretend to her parents she woke up super early and left for a walk. But it's the first time in centuries she sees her parents again. Same for Ingo, he hasn't seen his twin or his friends in ages. Wouldn't they be weirded out if their daughter/brother was suddenly clingy or their tastes for things had changed seemingly over night?
I think, what with the fact that Akari and Ingo would both have pretty bad amnesia, they don't actually... remember. When they disappear. And I was imagining that they only realize they're finally back in their own time when they start noticing that Akari is actually aging. By then, they'd have already missed the dates the two of them disappeared— and since Akari showed up a couple years after Ingo did, it's been years since Ingo has gone missing.
They're in the middle of one of their fake lives in Paldea, Ingo's become a guide around the outskirts of the Great Crater, Akari's attending school, it's been a good three years... They have about another year before they'll have to "move away" for a new identity.
One night Ingo gets woken up by Akari whimpering in pain. They don't realize what's wrong until the lights are turned on and there's a big ol puddle of blood in the middle of the bed. They're hit with the Oh Shit realization that. They've made it. They're in their own time.
And they still do not remember where they're supposed to be.
Over the years, they have regained some memories, but some things were just completely lost. Akari's pretty sure she was from Sinnoh, and that she worked with a Professor, but she didn't remember the Professor's name or where exactly she lived in Sinnoh, or if she had any friends.
Ingo remembers having a brother, Emmet, and a best friend who liked electric types, and that he worked with trains, probably. But he doesn't actually remember which region he's come from, and he's under the belief that he wasn't anyone famous or anything because if he works at a subway, that's just. A normal job. Train workers don't exactly get famous.
So it takes even more time for them to finally discover their missing persons cases. Ingo is actually shellshocked when he finds out he's a battle facility head. Akari doesn't find this surprising at all and thinks it's hilarious that he honestly didn't guess as much. His Path of Solitude is fucking brutal. He has to be a professional in the field to come up with shit like that.

One For All, chapter two
In an AU where the protagonist never fell from the sky, the Survey Corps will have to pull together and make use of every resource at their disposal to face the challenges present in Pokemon: Legends Arceus. There will be surveyshipping.
I expect this story to last three or four chapters- nothing super long or complicated this time.
---
When Cyllene returned to camp, not long before sundown, it was safe to say that the mission had been an unmitigated success. More research subjects had been recovered that day than in any prior week of the Survey Corps' existence, and Laventon would be writing new pokédex entries for days.
"It's beginning to look like the Survey Corps will pull through," Cyllene stated as she stepped into the encampment and looked around at the various specimens- everything from mushroom beetles to living rocks- and at the people interacting with them. Laventon was taking footprint sketches of a rodent-like creature. Rei was stroking the muzzle of a flaming pony. "Survey Corps," she called, turning everyone's attention to her. "You have done well. It is time to pack up and return to the village. Tomorrow the real work begins."
So it did. The next morning, the Survey Corps reported to Cyllene's office. Now that the Survey Corps members had calmed down somewhat about the prospect of being disbandment and Cyllene was somewhat more confident that they could avoid it, Cyllene was able to reveal their circumstances.
"Kamado has given us three weeks to prove our worth. We're going to use that time to map out every corner of the Obsidian Fieldlands- resources, useful trails, the Pokémon that inhabit it, and perhaps even Pokémon that would be useful to take as guides. I began mapping out Windswept Run yesterday to give you an idea of what I expect. All of you but Laventon and myself will be assigned an area to map. If we prove to Kamado that we can do it once, then he'll allow us to do it for every area in Hisui."
The corps accepted their orders and filed out in way that reminded Laventon of loyal soldiers.
"And what about us?" Laventon asked.
"Desk work. Study the specimens and work on the pokédex. I want to see its updates on my desk at the end of every day. It will be the most important resource for the field guide."
"Alrighty, then. Let's get to it!"
Cyllene gave him a stiff nod, and Laventon returned to his conjoined office.
A few hours later, Cyllene knocked on the doorframe.
Laventon looked up from entries he was writing.
"Yes?"
"I'm mapping out the horseshoe plains. Do you have any information on the temperament of ponyta? Are they aggressive? Territorial?"
"I'm afraid I wouldn't know. We have a form of them in Galar, but not ones on fire! Their temperament very well could be entirely different from the ones I know."
"Understood. It will be something to ask the other survey corps members to investigate. And soon, we'll have to have a meeting to discuss the knowledge you gathered on your travels and in Galar."
"You know, you can just ask me about my travels! You don't need to feign a reason."
Cyllene looked away. "...Noted. But I am serious about putting your prior knowledge to work."
Days passed. Cyllene often popped in to ask about the abilities and temperaments of various Pokémon. Far from being a disruption, Laventon relished an opportunity to talk about his discoveries. He'd enjoyed the research he'd done throughout the years regardless of who he could share it with or what he thought its impact would be, but he'd never felt the direct impact of his studies so strongly before! And he did notice when Cyllene asked questions out of interest rather than necessity.
The three weeks came to an end, and the Obsidian Fieldlands guide was, if not complete, at least viable.
"I think will prove our worth," Cyllene said as she and Laventon gave the guide one last look over. The next day, it was to be delivered to Kamado's office, and the fate of the Survey Corps would be decided.
"I do hope so," Laventon said. "Do you want me to stay behind? I know that Kamado doesn't exactly, erm..." Laventon let himself trail off. Cyllene would know what he meant. Kamado was suspicious of outsiders. It was just who he was.
Cyllene paused and weighed their options. "No," she decided. "Avoiding him will only mean that nothing will change."
Strange lightening from the rift arced through the sky that night. But by now, Cyllene and Laventon were used to the unstable time-space of Hisui.
The following afternoon, the two made their way to Kamado's office to find clan leaders Adaman and Irida already there, the latter looking quite distressed.
"What's going on?" Cyllene asked.
Adaman gave Irida a scornful look. "Apparently the Pearl Clan doesn't take the time to look after its nobles and now it's causing a mess."
Irida's teeth clenched. "This has nothing to do with us! We might have no idea what happened to it or what to do about it, but neither do you!"
Kamado sighed and faced Cyllene. "The Pearl Clan's noble kleavor is rampaging. It seems to be afflicted with a supernatural frenzy. And neither the Pearl Clan nor the Diamond Clan want to kill the something sacred to them or sacred to a clan they have an unsteady alliance with." He turned back to the clan leaders. "You need an impartial third party to kill the rampaging beast? Very well. We'll send the Security Corps to kill it."
Irida clasped her hands over her mouth. "Kill it? It's not its fault that whatever this is is happening to it! And it's spent its life making the forests safer for us. We don't want it dead."
"Very well. I suppose we could have the Survey Corps scout out an alternative." Kamado looked to Cyllene. "You have your orders. I'll look over your guide as well, but if you are able to find an alternate solution to the frenzied noble, you will have proven the Survey Corps' worth beyond doubt."
"Understood," Cyllene said. The Survey Corps was gathered and marched to Pearl Clan territory within the hour.
-
Within the Grandtree Arena, Lord Kleavor raged. Bathed in gold light and filled with pain and energy, it dashed about, running into trees and rocks and thrashing its heavy axes- axes that were still wet from its last victim's blood.
"Release the spores," Cyllene commanded from the edge of the Grandtree Arena. Her staravia, along with the bird Pokémon of the two survey corps members at her side, each took a paras in their talons and flew over the rampaging lord, dusting it with sleep powders and stun spores in hopes of rendering it immobile. It barely seemed to slow the creature down.
"Plan B," Cyllene yelled. She and the other members returned their Pokémon. Cyllene then threw out her kadabra, which set up reflect- a shield that would hopefully allow them to get close enough to the kleavor to stop it.
The three members slid down the rockface and began throwing balms at kleavor. It took immediate notice and rammed itself towards them only to bounce off of the reflect shield. It rammed again and the shield began to crack.
"Backup!" Cyllene called out, still throwing balms along with her allies. Another three Survey Corps members slid down the opposing side of the rock face. There wasn't much they could do aside from throw balms as well.
With a third smash, the reflect broke. The survey crops members scattered. The six regrouped and Cyllene's kadabra put up another reflect. This time, the kleavor smacked into it head-first and fell backwards, dazed. Rei took out his dartrix to distract it with a battle as the other members threw balms. Finally, the golden glow lifted off the kleavor, leaving a normally-coloured and much calmer creature.
"That was close," Rei said.
"Yes," Cyllene conceded. "We'll have to strategize a bit more should there be another situation like this."
The Pokémon approached the six and handed them a strange green-coloured plate. Rei took it. He hardly had time to contemplate it, however, as Irida, Lian, and Laventon approached. he tucked it into his bag and turned his attention to the approaching people.
"What was that?" Irida asked. "It seems like Lord Kleavor lost its aggression when the light left it. So the lightening from the rift really is the cause of all this... At any rate, thank you. Without you, our only options would have been to let our lord and protector continue to be a danger or to-" Irida looked over to her lord and shook her head. "Thank you."
"No need," replied Cyllene, "It is to everyone's benefit that we keep Hisui a safe place for everyone, and that we avoid conflicts between you and the Diamond clan. There is a way that you can repay us, however."
"And what is that?" Irida said.
"The Pearl Clan has lived here for generations. You have knowledge of the Pokémon here that we don't. Share it with us. It may even help us in any further incidents such as this."
"Oh! Sure. Gladly."
"See me in my office tomorrow morning. We have much to discuss."
With that, the Survey Corps started back for camp and then Jubilife.
"Excellent work today," Laventon said, hurrying to the front of the line to catch up with Cyllene. "I took as many photos as I could of your conflict. If this doesn't show Jubilife Village that we're doing Hisui a service, well, nothing will!"
"Yes," Cyllene stated. "There will be much to discuss with Kamado tonight on a possible alliance with the Pearl Clan. Such a discussion would be incomplete without the leaders of essentially every Corps- agriculture, gathering, security, and potentially medical since a full overlap of our medical knowledge is unlikely. But our worth is proven. I'll be sure to let Kamado know that you were the one to come up with the balms."
"Wonderful! That will warm him right up to me! At least, I do hope it does."
"Indeed."
-
Basculegion motored towards the shore of Ginko Landing, stopped sharply, and launched the riding Laventon onto shore, leaving him to wipe out face-first in the sand.
"Oof..." Iscan said, approaching Laventon and helping him up. "I hope that handling the frenzied noble went a bit smoother than that."
Laventon got up and dusted himself off as basculegion headed back to Firespit Island to retrieve his fellow Survey Corps members. "It certainly did!" he assured Iscan. "My commander even approved that I lead this mission, since our usual captain was out sick. I wasn't the one doing the fighting or the planning, but I did have a few Pokemon and some guidance to contribute."
"It sounds like you're on your way up, then... Is there anything we can do to repay you?"
"Well..." Laventon said, his face beginning to flush as he thought of the Security Corps couple he'd met the previous day. "There is a reason that I asked to be brought back first. There's this friend of mine that I think fancies me. But she's kept me at such a distance that until recently, I thought there was some unspoken rule against dating someone from your corps. Do you think I should say something? What with you and Palina, I thought you'd be the one to ask."
"Hm... Absolutely. I mean, Palina and I made it work even though we're forbidden from seeing each other. If she hadn't spoken up... well, we'd both still be pining and putting up walls. Even if the answer is 'no,' or 'yes, but let's not pursue it,' it's better to know, I think."
Laventon thought that over. By now he knew that there were a few people- namely Kamado and Zisu- that Cyllene wasn't entirely aloof with. And both he and Cyllene seemed to want him on that list. Maybe once they'd talked about it, he could be. And if not, he'd at least know to give up trying. "Yes, I think you're right!" he said.
-
The next day, Laventon asked Cyllene to finally have that talk with him about his travels. While waiting for her at their planned meeting place at the Wallflower, Laventon took a moment to appreciate the changes that had come upon Jubilife since his arrival. The occasional harmless Pokémon roamed the streets now, as they had in other lands he visited. And where there were once only the sounds of people training in the training grounds, there were now animalistic cries as well, now that the Security Corps and the Survey Corps had embraced Pokémon as a means of defence. Given the direction she was coming from, that may have been where Cyllene was coming from.
"I brought a surprise," Laventon said as Cyllene sat down.
"Oh?"
"Close your eyes," Laventon said.
Cyllene obeyed. Laventon took a wurmple out of a ball and onto his hand.
"Alright, open up."
Cyllene opened her eyes and immediately tensed. "Is there a reason for this?" she demanded, eyes focused on the bug. Laventon hesitated, and Cyllene took a careful scooch back, trying to balance between keeping the appearance of composure and keeping away from that thing.
"Well, it's... ready to evolve, and you said just recently that you'd never seen an evolution before your kadabra. I thought you might want to watch another. It's certainly a different experience than just reading about it in reports! Is there something wrong with that?"
Cyllene's nervous eyes were still on the bug. "We had those in Hoenn. They feed on our crops and on the intestines of anyone unlucky enough to contract one. All research on them should be done in the field. Not here."
"What...? With respect, captain, that's nonsense. Wurmple are insectitarians. They eat the eggs and larva of other species. That's probably why you see them around plants other bugs like to eat, and in unsanitary places that cause disease. Wurmple are harmless as they come."
Cyllene relaxed. Not entirely, but somewhat. "I... see."
"Shall we watch it evolve, then?" Laventon asked as the worm crawled up onto his neck like a scarf.
"...Let's take this to my quarters."
And so, they did. Laventon had never been in Cyllene’s quarters before. He didn’t know what he expected, but a room overflowing with indoor plants wasn’t it. There were more herbs, flowers, berries, and vegetables in there than there was paperwork in her office, and that was saying something. Cyllene moved a couple planters out of the way and led Laventon to a table. She cast a sour look at the worm and hesitantly gave it a pet. When the two were seated, Cyllene gave Laventon a stiff nod.
Laventon took the worm off his neck and passed on the nod. A sparkling flash of transformation later, the worm had turned into a cacoon- a white one, thankfully- Laventon couldn't have a toxic moth around so many well-tended plants and still have Cyllene as a friend afterward. Another flash, and the cacoon had turned into a beautiful beautifly.
"Hm. That was indeed more of an experience than reading about evolution in reports," Cyllene admitted, twitching as the beautifly began to inspect her face with its trunk. "Laventon," she said, her voice betraying a little fear. "Put it away."
Laventon chuckled and returned the creature. "You gave it your best effort."
Cyllene flushed.
"You would have hated Alola. It's just crawling with bug types! There were quite a few areas where we had to wear nets to gather specimens. Not that it wasn't worth it! It's a warm and beautiful place, some of my favourite memories come from there!"
“That’s where rowlet came from, correct? Mind if I ask about the others?”
“Not at all, so long as I can ask a few questions myself."
"Very well. We'll take turns."
"Alrighty then! So, what was your life like before Hisui?"
"I'd rather not say."
That made Laventon feel pretty stupid. She was a swordswoman from Hoenn. Chances were she'd been in the war. "Ah. Okay. Well, then, how did you manage to track an abra? They certainly aren't an easy species to track, even injured ones."
"I didn't find it by tracking. But I do think you'll be interested in its story. It was shortly after the first time-space distortion opened. We didn't know what they were at the time and had closed our walls in fear of it. A visitor from another region had locked himself outside, chasing after an injured Pokémon. And thank goodness for that visitor."
At this point, kadabra floated over and, despite nearly being Cyllene's size and barely fitting, curled up on her lap.
"I led the Security Corps to investigate the distortion and search for the visitor. He joined up with us for a while, but ran off again. After Pokémon. It was frustrating. But then a Pokémon he knew in childhood saved his life. I understood then that understanding Pokémon would help make Hisui hospitable, so I ordered that we take back a few that had been injured by the distortion. It cost us almost nothing, pleased our visitor, and gave me a small opportunity to know Pokémon better than I had. It’s from that event that I decided to create the Survey Corps. The injured Pokémon included Abra. It simply never left me after that."
“Well, then thank goodness for that visitor,” Laventon said, stroking the kadabra.
“Where did you get Cyndiquill?”
Laventon’s heart rate picked up. Somehow it seemed a bad idea to let her know he’d worked for Jhoto during wartime. Not for anything military-related, but still! “Well, I, er- I hardly remember! I take on a lot of research subjects, after all!”
Cyllene gave him a blank look that told him that he seemed a lot more suspicious than he would have liked. "Fair enough. Your turn."
"Well, if it's not too personal... is there a Mr. Cyllene?"
"No. I will focus on that once the nobles are quelled and the Survey Corps takes less of my time. Perhaps I'll be with someone from the Security Corps, or division that has little to do with ours, such as agriculture."
"Ah, I see. No time to seek someone out. Well, um, captain..." Laventon stroked the kadabra again and let his hand find Cyllene's. "What if there was no need to do any seeking?"
Cyllene took her hand away. "No, Laventon. That isn't a good idea."
"Oh. Okay. Friends, then. Right?"
Cyllene hesitated. It occurred to Laventon that she might find even that too familiar for a close co-worker. "...Friends," she conceded.
Months passed. Lands were explored, one more noble was quelled, and an alliance was formed with the Diamond Clan. Meanwhile, time-space became increasingly unstable, and the rift in the sky grew ever-wider.

jadu’s hisui oc guide
i’m going to try to do more active posting on tumblr which means revealing my creations. by far the pokemon project that’s stuck with me most is the hisui/pla based group! my main focus happened to be the survey corps, as i very much enjoyed the cast and wanted to explore more of them. first, i’ll introduce my recruits!

from left to right:
- Mariposa Rosales. 15 years old. A young woman who stumbled into the lives of the Galaxy Team when she fell from the great tear in the sky—according to the Professor. She is near silent but always curious, not afraid to stare or get hands-on with her object of curiosity. Due to her sometimes danger-creating fearless nature, she was a perfect fit for the aspirations of the Survey Corps.
- Yua Hayashi. 16 years old. Yua’s parents moved to Hisui as part of the Galaxy Team’s Medical Corps, and as a result she spent much time roaming the halls of headquarters. Eventually, she began hearing tales of the Survey Corps research efforts and became intrigued enough to apply. She doubles as a scribe after realizing the Professor’s handwriting was hardly legible with the tremor in his hands. She is not afraid of Pokemon because she knows how to fix the injuries and illnesses they inflict.
- Matsu. 19 years old. Matsu is a member of the Diamond Clan who is known for his willingness to branch out and understand others. As a result, he is on better terms with the Pearl Clan than most of the Diamond Clan. This also resulted in him wandering into Jubilife to scope it out and finding a Survey Corps that he deemed incompetent and directionless. Thus, he became the third member of the Survey Corps. He understands the environments and natures of Pokemon the best, and is a popular choice for higher risk missions. He secretly wishes to learn Beni’s ninja art.
Essentially, I have the “protagonist” role split into two characters; Mariposa is focused on perfecting the Pokedex and studies closely under Laventon’s wing, while Matsu quells Lords and Ladies and makes peace with both Pokemon and people. Yua is in a similar role to Akari/Rei, the fellow recruit who teaches them the ropes. Mariposa is the character that travels from the present, and is returned to her time once her work is complete.
i also have characters tied to the pre-existing members of the Survey Corps, shown here.

- Juhua “Kiku” Zhou: Beni’s niece and the Wallflower’s other chef. She was originally part of the Security Corps around the time that Jubilife was founded, but was forced to find a new path after she lost her arm in battle against an Alpha Heracross. She acts as a warm glue that helps keep the townspeople that come into the eatery together, whether it be through old stories of victory or song. She even seems to be on familiar terms with Cyllene and makes no effort to hide it—much to the Captain’s dismay.
- Dr. Ruby Tejada Rosales: A researcher born and raised overseas in Unova. She arrives to the Hisui research project later on, when an expansion of the department was contemplated at the opening of the Colbalt Coastlands. While very accomplished in her own right and credited with the discovery of Galarian Slowpoke’s evolution method, something about her expression is apprehensive when on the field in Hisui. An accident involving an Ice type attack left her with limited mobility, but her research is efficient and innovative.
These two characters carry a lot of harsh memories, but they bloom again as the story progresses :). Kiku has already begun to rediscover her value through giving back to the village instead of picking up her sword, and her not-at-all-secret relationship is both a significant support and something that melts the tension between the Survey Corps and their Captain. Ruby has had quite a lot of time to heal from the events that changed her life and led her to break an engagement, but finding that the man she ran from would work at her side so many years later is…unnerving. Adversity forces them to show their true colors, and there is eventual reconciliation.
this is pretty much something i’ve been building ever since the 31st of january, 2022! that marks the date when i first made mariposa. so it means a lot to me!

Ah. I was asked to update you all.
I have thus pulled Rose back to Hisui in the era she was beforehand. It would be as if she was only away for the night. As it stands, no one will suspect anything, and blessedly her time will be spent in private. Privacy is rather well-respected for her as long as she simply places a sign upon her door, which she has been.
I have been informed that she will simply be resting for a small while. She was... overwhelmed by the support, as it were.
She calls it a 'hiatus'.
She will be taking two weeks to rest and recuperate. She wants to get as much work as she can done on her field guide, and as such will be simply taking the time to 'sign off'. I apologize for not knowing what that term means, but I am assuming it means she will not be on Rotomblr for the foreseeable future.

Given the direction she was coming from, that may have even been where Cyllene was coming from.
Lands were explored and one more nobles quelled. Meanwhile, time-space became increasingly unstable, and the rift in the sky grew ever-wider.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are giving Atlantis: the Lost Empire

In Hisui and Sinnoh, I went on about mountains. Paldea's main geographical feature is potentially a reference to real-world mythos as whale. In Paldea, the biggest feature in the centre of the region is the great crater/Area Zero. When I was playing this game and going into the crater, it reminded me a lot of one of my favourite Disney movies, Atlantis: the Lost Empire. In this movie, an expedition team descends to find treasure (a big similarity with the Treasure Hunt at the Academy), but the explorers only find the lost empire of Atlantis which preserved by the power of crystals that only exist down in Atlantis. This could be a big analogy to tera crystals, which originate from within the crater. The expedition team could bring the crystals from Atlantis with them when they returned to the surface; tera crystals could be brought to the surface in Paldea so people could use their energy to terastalise pokémon.
Another thing that stuck out to me was the way that in the movie for Atlantis: the Lost Empire, the empire fell due to the greed and desire of dominance/power of the king. Greed and desire were also the reasons why the Paldean Empire fell to ruin. Both rulers kept wanting more, which lead to the demise of both civilisations and, in Scarlet/Violet, the creation of four other legendary pokémon to embody the spirit of those who resented the greedy ruler's ambitions:

The Empire of Atlantis itself is something that originates from records of Plato, the Greek philosopher. The empire was physically submerged because of a great flood (perhaps as a punishment for the greedy king or the greed of humankind in general--who knows?) In his record, Atlantis was described as a technologically-advanced civilisation. This lines up with the way that AI which, according to Sada or Turo, exists, but only functions at the heart of the crater. Even if Sada and Scarlet are oriented towards the past, Sada's AI self exists suggesting that there are still some technological advancements that are unique to the crater.

When the player descends into the crater and has the final showdown with Sada/Turo's Miraidon/Koraidon, the innermost room with the time machine is completely surrounded by crystals. This reminded me of the pivotal scene in Atlantis: the Lost Empire where the explorers discover the power source keeping the remains of the people and civilisation of Atlantis alive. At the heart of the empire is the crystal chamber (which has an epic soundtrack! https://youtu.be/EH8iRhEyg3M) In the movie, this is a life force that triggers a mechanism to protect the empire by summoning golems who generate "force fields" around Atlantis.

This YouTuber also draws direct links between Atlantis and the game. I wasn't the only one who was thinking, "this game is giving Atlantis..." The YouTuber shows in this timestamp (https://youtu.be/1JdOZDFzZmU?t=205) the actual text files for the game. when the player is in the crater, Arven, Nemona, and Penny will follow the player to the heart of the crater. As they walk around behind, they converse in text flashing at the bottom of the screen. In the game's files, Paldea is titled "Atlantis."

This is how Atlantis is described and one word stands out here:
Orichalcum Pulse is Koraidon's ability:
The last thing I will add is that the legend for Atlantis in the Atlantis: The Lost Empire movie was written in a book which was carried by the explorers. It described where it was, the language, the people, and served as a guide to all things Atlantis:

This is directly analogous to the Violet and Scarlet books. The book in the movie inspired the main character and his father to seek out Atlantis. The Violet and Scarlet books inspired Sada and Turo as children to build the time machine and research within the crater.

This leads me to wonder whether Geeta is going to be a Kida or a Roark...

Imagine Ingo, Emmet, and Adaman comforting their S/O who's afraid of thunderstorms. Bonus: Their S/O is brave about everything else but this is their one weakness
aw, this is me with the dark. i am so brave until it gets kinda dark and then i'm like hm. . . maybe not. what if hidden spider in dark? can't risk it.
🍓🍓🍓
Ingo:
When he sees the dark clouds rolling in, he already knows what to do. He guides you into the bedroom, puts on a movie, closes the blinds. He cuddles you, talks to you, does all he can to drown out the noises of the thunderstorm raging around you. And sometimes it works, but sometimes you still flinch from cracks of thunder, or whimper when the power flickers. He keeps a hold on you, tight and secure, so you at least feel a little secured
Ingo assures you, voice gentle and steady, that you are not less for being afraid of thunderstorms. Everyone is afraid of something, and whatever your fears may be, as few or as many as there are, it doesn't make you any less of a person. He holds you through the storm, until you fall asleep or until it ends. Kisses are pressed to your head and face to help distract you. Ingo just wants you to feel safe.
Emmet:
Emmet is a fun distraction when rain clouds start rolling in. He builds pillow forts with you, puts on fun movies, tells you fun stories, pulls out video games and board games all as an attempt to distract you from the storm. He tells you funny stories from childhood, how Ingo used to snore so loud that Emmet would wake up thinking there was a thunderstorm! You smile, but flinch from the next crack of thunder, and he hugs you close.
You’re the bravest person Emmet knows. He tells you such too. Being afraid of thunderstorms doesn’t mean you aren’t brave, it means you’re human! Stick close to him, listen to his heart beat for you. Emmet loves you, and nothing will change that. He’ll spend the entire storm telling you it, how brave and loved you are, until you both fall asleep in your fort.
Adaman:
Sadly, Hisui is predisposed to a lot of thunder storms thanks to the hyper massive outbreaks that occur. Whenever one happens, Adaman is quick to get you into the nearest shelter. If your out in the field, he finds a cave or dry area to stay, wrapping himself around you as though to protect you from the noise and chaos. If you're at the settlement of Jubilife, he takes you to his or your home, and hides you under the covers of your futon with him. Whichever it is, you're entangled together, a mess of limbs and the kisses he presses to your face and lips
He thinks your so brave, even if you don't feel like it in these moments. He'll remind you of that too, telling you stories about yourself like you're a hero out of some epic, which you are to him and to all of Hisui. You're wonderful, and so brave, and he lets you know about wisdom passed down to him from his own father, the former clan leader. Bravery cannot be without fear, so never feel bad for being fearful. Everyone fears something, and those that fear nothing are foolish.
🍓🍓🍓
Hope you liked it love! Have a great day!

Hi uhhh can you tell us about Clause?
Oh, Clause! Well, I'll try, I'll try~
Eternal Senselessness Bearing the Alias of "Chaos" who Manipulates Gravity at Will — Wilhelm von Clausewitz Halcyon HISUIMARU
Name & Title
We don't actually know Clause's true name, "Wilhelm von Clausewitz Halcyon HISUIMARU" is a pseudonym. It's so long that apparently, no one cares to remember it in its entirety, and we've ever only seen people refer to them as "Clause".
The name "Wilhelm von Clausewitz" possibly comes from Prussian lieutenant general Wilhelm Benedikt von Clausewitz, or rather, points to his more famous younger brother, Carl von Clausewitz. (More on them later.)
Halycyon and HISUIMARU are believed to both refer to kingfisher birds, Halcyon being a genus of tree kingfishers.
Depicted below: The woodland kingfisher (Halcyon senegalensis)

Hisuimaru (翡翠丸) literally means "jade" (翡翠 hisui) and "orb/round" (丸 maru), although "maru" is likely used as a common suffix in names here, and not for a specific meaning. Additionally, "hisui" (翡翠) is also a word for kingfishers in general.
Depicted below: The common kingfisher.

So, it would seem, from this pseudonym at least, that Clause has a bird's name. Although the efficacy of a self-granted bird's name is yet unknown.
Basis: Physics & Astronomy
Clause is quite heavily based in the scientific field of modern physics, along with the field of astronomy.
Most obvious is their ability to "manipulate gravity", but this connection to physics and to the cosmos can be found in a number of other places as well, here I'll go over a few examples:
The spell Divine Punishment "Five Planets" references the 5 planets visible to the naked eye, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, on which astrological divinations are often based
The spells New Star "Supernova", Super Star "Hypernova" references supernovas and hypernovas
The spell Pluto "Lost Fame" and their birthday on 24 August, which reference when Pluto was reclassified as a dwarf planet
The dots and squiggle on their pants, which reference the wave-particle duality
Potential Inspiration: Carl von Clausewitz
As mentioned in the name section, Clause likely references, in some small part, the Prussian general and military theorist Carl von Clausewitz, who developed the concept of the center of gravity in a military context.
Depicted below: Carl Philipp Gottfried von Clausewitz.

His theory was presented in an unfinished work named "Vom Kriege" (On War), but is said to be presented in a way too abstract for most ordinary soldiers to follow, making them see only its surface meaning and not Clausewitz's true thoughts on the matter.
In addition, the way he constructed his argument leads to frequent modern misinterpretation due to exploring various (often opposed) ideas before reaching the conclusion, such confusion about what he meant may have inspired Clause's unique way of speaking.
Halcyon Mysteries
Obviously, there are quite a few mysteries surrounding Clause, so let's take a look at some of them here
Loaded Clause?
Like most of the EE outsiders, we don't actually know much about Clause's background, but interestingly they might be absolutely loaded, or at least have a rich family
In BPoHC Scoundrel vs. Clause, they demand that the Shitodos take them to Fumikado's estate, and will in return give them a reward.
BPoHC Scoundrel vs. Clause Clause "Now! [...] I ask that you guide me to "the one"!" Kuroji "...Huh?" Aoji "Do you think you're Emperor Jimmu or something?" Hooaka "Then we oughta just hurl 'em into the sun." Clause "Kehehehe... Be "patient", now... I will be sure to "pay" you a "suitable" "reward"." Kuroji "Now that's what I'm talking about." Hooaka "How much should we charge?" Aoji "We should ask for a mansion!"
Curiously, all three siblings immediately take a much more pleasant tone upon hearing this, with Aoji even going so far as to demand a mansion. And it's the fact that even Kuroji immediately turns around seems to me that they associate Clause with riches.
Additionally, in their AWTIF False Spirit Account, they're said to enjoy "mysterious rituals", jewels and silver, which all sound like fairly pricy hobbies as well.
Finally, their incredible ineptitude at self-care, as shown by how they were on the verge of death before being adopted by Garaiya, may also point to a cushy life back in the Outside World.
Suzumi Knowledge
Interestingly, Clause seems to have knowledge about Suzumi's multiple souls, as well as the fact that there are actually restrictions on when they use their ability.
In BPoHC Secret vs. Clause, they seemed to have revealed themself to Suzumi because they knew that they couldn't kill Clause at that moment, making good use of their observation.
Minor Theory
In AWTIF's False Spirit Accounts, they're said to like both astronomical observation and people-watching. Since Suzumi's souls seem to be named after constellations, perhaps this is an allusion to Clause having observed Suzumi enough to notice all this?
Clause's "Sickness"
There are several hints that Clause has some sort of "sickness":
Clause's bandages(?) around their legs, which they retain even in their Santa Clause form in BotC
Tsubakura telling them to "just go back to the hospital" in EE
JynX's comments that they "wanted it to express a feeling of sickness" in the EE music room
Suzumi telling them to "bear your own standing in mind" and to not "keep walking when you're already at your limit" in BPoHC
Their seemingly poor self-care skills, which may have resulted if they were often sick and needed to be cared for
The thing is that it's unsure whether these are supposed to point to some actual illness, or just a jab at Clause's chuunibyou tendencies to act as a "chosen one" and have some grand fate ahead of them.
Connections to Tenkai
Strangely enough, Clause actually seems to have some sort of connection to Tenkai Zuifeng:
Most BPoHC neutral stage 6 conversations are related to the boss they encounter somehow. For the Preschool Team, they were discussing Tenkai's past in the outside world when they suddenly run into Clause, which seems to surprise Tenkai for some reason.
The intros to Tenkai's themes, Present World Overhaul and Burst Overflow, share a similar phrase to Clause's BPoHC theme, Empire Power ~ Big Star. As an extension of this, the official OST uploads on JynX's YouTube channel seem to support this connection too.
Tenkai's two themes and Clause's BPoHC theme are the only ones that don't have a solid colour fill over the portraits, and instead have a unique pattern. Additionally, the videos' colour schemes for the two are inversions of one another too.
Below: The Empire Power ~ Big Star video + Burst Overflow with colours inverted.

Below: The Burst Overflow video followed + Empire Power ~ Big Star with colours inverted.

Finally, there's this peculiar exchange:
Peing - 3 February 2019 Q: Is there any connection between Clause and Tenkai? A: Oh oh!!! There's a newborn chick over there!!!! 🐣
It all certainly seems to point to Clause having something to do with Tenkai's past in the Outside World, oh but what could it have been~?
And that I think is all I have on Clause right now, nothing concrete no but very interesting. Even this silly fella apparently has a role of their own to play, so let's look forward to that!

Day 75: Autumn, clear
In an effort to determine whether the bug types of the flatlands are generally the same as those of the fieldlands, I shook many many trees today. This went well, yielding quite a few Burmy (some with a different cloak, which is helpful in corroborating my idea that the cloaks are available material based!), as well as the typical Combee, but I got a shock towards the end of the day.
Something small and white came hurtling out of the tree, long before I had even given the trunk a proper shake. It chittered angrily at me, seemingly scolding me for my choices. Jorah stepped in between us hesitantly, but the Pachirisu that had nearly fallen on my head did not seem inclined to do much more than yell at me. I would have caught him, if only because he was standing in front of me so nicely, making no moves to leave, but he was so unhappy it seemed unkind to go against his very clear wishes.
I suppose it was ignorant of me to assume bug types are the only inhabitants of shaking trees.
Footnote: Another reason pertinent to my not catching the Pachirisu I met today is its typing. With Jorah and Forge I am quite vulnerable to ground types, of which there is an abundance in the mud flats. Jorah is adamant he can handle them. He cannot. I most certainly need another team member to better cover over my many weaknesses.

Legendary Boon AU :: The First Few Weeks
A brief Summary of Akari’s first few weeks in Jubilife Village up until she meets a certain Warden
Please, feel free to ask clarifying questions!
-
Akari’s arrival in Jubilife was contentious as per the regular game, but with the added anxiety of Akari finding any reflective surface she could to make sure her face wasn’t glowing/ her eyes weren’t a different color. It made her look vain at first, but Rei picked up that she seemed to be looking for something, rather than at herself and Laventon assumed she was very self conscious.
She passes the trial to join the Survey Corps with flying colors, and thus begins the main part of the story.
The next few weeks are her adjusting to life, and Rei being surprisingly assistive and kind - internally he’s intensely jealous of her easy camaraderie with Pokemon, but when he sees how she struggles with everything else, his jealousy leaves pretty quickly. Laventon starts teaching her about what little information he has about boons, and his theories about the legendary beings in the land of Hisui, but that he has to do far, far more research.
The story progresses as normal for the most part, with pit stops where she learns about her boon’s powers, as well as Laventon learning about them due to a tragic accident out in the field.
And then the frenzies start.
Her meeting with Adaman and Irida is… interesting, with Adaman in particular being put off at her young age, but Kamado insists, and the clan leader capitulates.
I will be making a post concerning how Akari quells each of the nobles, so I will be glossing over it here for the sake of brevity.
Akari just cannot get a hang of her abilities, with them activating at what feels like random times - but are actually all related to stress or fear. Her Oshawott figures this out and her Pokemon become her little protection squad (™) - post about Akari’s Hisuian Pokemon team forthcoming.
One day, she has a dream about a black dragon that makes her nervous on the day she’s supposed to go quell lord electrode...
And she meets an odd man at the behest of Irida -
Warden Ingo, who will guide her to the highlands.
Something in his eyes hint that he knows something
If only Akari could figure out what

You know how in the anime Sinnoh has a holiday to celebrate ancient traditions?
The time warper gets sent back to the present, but life in the modern world is just weird now cause they got so used to living in Hisui. The festival comes around and all the ancient Hisuian motifs and celebrations makes them nostalgic.
They’re teetering the edge of wishing they could go back, it feels more like home to them than here ever has. But they don’t have Arceus in their corner anymore, they’re just regular old themself again. There’s nothing they can do about it. Jubilife City feels almost wrong compared to the village it was before. The rolling hills and endless wilds of the Obsidian Fields all gone and replaced with roads and houses.
At some point in the celebration they start having a good time, getting lost in it. Eating potato mochi, wearing traditional clothes, dancing those old steps and pretending they’re back in the village again. At least for tonight they can feel alive. Someone takes their hand. They turn to see them and.. freeze. Time and space seem to stop in their tracks. KIt can’t be…
“Hello my dear. Long time since we’ve crossed paths, my favorite customer hasn’t forgotten me now, have you?”
“… you….”
“Ah, it seems you did miss me. So my struggles haven’t been for nothing. Enjoying the party?”
“How are you here…. It’s impossible…”
“Come on now, you know me. You didn’t think I’d find a way to see you again? It wasn’t easy, all things considering. You owe me big time for this.”
“… you… went through time and space… to visit me?…”
“What, would you rather I tear open the sky again? Make a show of it?”
“…”
“It took me a very long time to do this. There’s three particular gods that are very cross with me right now, but they’re being merciful for the moment. I don’t have long to stay here before they change their minds. So, I have a question.”
“… what?”
“Would you like me to take you home?”
When he loves you so much he breaks space in time to see you.
Volo holds out your hand and you take it SHBSFBDJKE.
He dances with you before slowly guiding you out of the festival.
He takes both of your hands guiding you through a Forest away from the festival. but not keeping his eyes off you.

I often see people upset over the fact that the protag in PLA is treated more as an adult rather than a child.
I remember when I was younger I kept asking my dad or my grandmothers (my grandmothers would both be 104 and 102 at this point, and my dad is 78) about the time they were young and from what they told me was up from their teenage years they were basically considered adults when it comes to working. When there was time for harvest there was no school, they had help out at the fields or go to work to financially help out the family. I also recall reading in a history book that children often worked in factories to help out in tight spaces in the big machines no adult could reach.
So I thought it was only natural that Rei and Akari are considered more as adults rather than children. Back then it wasn't unusual for kids their age to have to do work and to earn money. So I never questioned the treatment towards Akari and Rei in the games. (still doesn't excuse Kamados harsh actions, but they were made out of fear and he does apologize so I'll give him that)
I'm not saying this was right but it's how things were back then. You had to work for a living. You and your family often depended on that. I know my grandmothers weren't alive by the time PLA was likely playing but it would make sense that things were similar back then than the time my grandmothers and my dad told me about.
Sorry I just wanted to throw that in here. The stories they always told me also made me a bit interested in History. Also note that I'm not American so I have no clue how things were over there back when... But this is how the simple people of central Europe used to spend their teen years.
Oh yes!! You are very right with this anon!! Both sides of my grandparents grew up in conditions like this as well; it was normal at the time, and I’m sure this would carry over to what was expected of kids at the time in Hisui.
There is not much to do in Jubilife, there seems to be no school for kids (unless the Galaxy Team building hosts classes??), and there are farming fields. So I would think it would be expected for kids to work hard to help the community thrive, and spend most of their time doing it. This wouldn’t be any different for survey corps guides!
Though this is my fault for not explaining this explicitly (I’m sorry!), but when I talk of how Akari is treated like an adult more than a kid, I’m mostly talking about how she’s sent out to quell the frenzied nobles and fix the red sky.
My favorite ongoing fic, In Tandem by @/yautjan i think expresses how a kid would struggle with such monumental tasks like this in a great way. (And a new chapter just came out, go check it out!!)
While it is a game from a children’s franchise that tones it down, yautjan does a great job highlighting how realistically horrifying it would be as a kid to be sent out and calm down these raging Pokémon with immense power that they can’t even control. No adults, not even their wardens, can get close to them out of fear someone will get hurt (and what yautjan writes with Kleavor and their frenzy is powerfully terrifying stuff. It’s arms are immense cleavers, it’s going to use them!)
It seems rare in the franchise for Pokémon to attack people (this is seen moreso in the manga and anime) but even then, to be frenzied on top of that must be a scary thing to confront! And Kamado sends a kid to do it! It can be done, but the thought must be daunting if not even the wardens can handle things.
And then to ask a child to go out into the wilderness and fix the red sky? That is an incredibly stressful request! In the game part of the narrative is to go around in the wild looking for anyone that can offer you help because you don’t know what to do! It is a very sad thing, realistically.
So this is mostly what I have on my mind when I talk about Akari being treated more like an adult than a child. Moreso putting expectations on a child that would be terribly stressful for them. But in terms of what you’re talking about, I do entirely agree with you! That stuff would absolutely be expected and required of kids and teens. They have to help contribute to their community!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights Anon!! It was very informational to me!!

Kamado came to chat with me, and I kinda think I gave him a bad rap before? He seemed like. Kinda keen on being standoffish and kinda... professionally curt. But he personally came down to talk with me, closing the doors in the process.
He was worried. Like. Really worried. He heard that, even if I had succeeded, I ended up... uh. A little stuck! Much as he was a bit confused by the strange things going on, he's definitely concerned. Even for me. I've been apparently doing quite a lot of good, but he was wondering if my luck'd run out.
I don't... he was very much clearly a bit... off-put by Klaus being in my lap. And it's a bit OBVIOUS to me that he might very well be a biiiig problem as to why Pokémon are feared here. Guy voiced his concerns about my team a... few times. Had to reassure him like five times over. But the chat we had was honestly pretty fruitful.
I'm not actually in any danger of being kicked out. The work I've done in the Fieldlands and Mirelands alone is enough to basically secure my place at the moment, and he joked (yes, JOKED, though with a straight face) that he'd probably be reamed by Adaman and Irida both if they removed me from the Survey Corps.
Naturally, when I said that even without the fear of losing a roof over my head I'd be steadily going crazy in bed, he thought about it, then finally left. He came back and offered a small solution, and I'd even be paid for the effort, just like the survey compensations. And dammit, it actually sounds kinda cool. And fun, not gonna lie. Once he bounced, Cyllene helped me go over the specifics.
I'm making a field guide for Hisui!
General Pokemon approach tactics, catching tutorials, overall Pokémon handling and release information, general area tips and tricks... things like that. It'd be a supplementation for the Pokédex.
They both say it cane be released bit by bit, at my leisure. They don't expect anything immediately, as the injury IS fresh, but when I finally get discharged from the Medical Corps, I'm to get to work.
Lol they don't know my resolve. I'mma start writing this shit up right now on my downtime.

PETITE; shea’s alpha hisuian lilligant. like most of shea’s partners, petite & shea met during the hisui era & was one of shea’s very first pkmn & the first alpha shea successfully calmed. this alpha was part of the pack that the noble hisuian lilligant was born from & was extremely proud & territorial. shea had all but avoided it for some time until it was no longer viable as a group of petilil under it’s protection were attacked by a trio of scyther & shea without thinking ran into the fray to protect them.
it was after the scyther had been scared off that the alpha challenge shea, testing if what shea’s strength of heart was mere foolhearty fluke or a true show of her character. however after shea won the trust of the lilligant--- the beastie found itself endeared to shea & followed her to camp. && then to jubilife. figuring that the pkmn wanted to join shea in her adventures, she asked it if such was the case & the lilligant nodded.
since then shea & petite have been inseparable. the two have a near perfect understanding of each other & petite often would leave her pokeball of her own accord to protect shea or aid her in dire times. petite was also granted immortality by arceus so that she may stay by shea’s side & is always brought w/ shea to any region she explores or ventures to. shea considers petite true family & often treats her like a sister rather than a pokepartner.
if one has the honor of visiting the flower paradise on their own, it’s petite who shows up at a distance to observe you & judge your character. if she believes you are of a impure heart she will attack you & push you from moving further, if you seem to have pure intentions she will appear before you to guide you to a giant gracidea field where you can meet various shaymin.
fun fact in PMD type situations, shea turns into a hisuian lilligant. one wonder’s if petite just lends shea her forme as she knows that shea will be safe with petite even if she’s not in control of her body. like dna digivolving sorta. / SHEA’S TEAM.
