Since you are finnish, i thought i would ask you:
What does Ahti mean in his song in Alan Wake 2 when he says that the "Dance turns into a game tag played with knives?"
Does it have any deeper meaning?
"Knife tag" is a direct translation of a Finnish word "puukkohippa", which is the national sport of a region in Finland called Southern Ostrobothnia. [ba dum tss]
Seriously tho, it's a term typically used when referring to a fight where knives are involved, OR a scene where somebody is being chased around with a knife.

Did a short nature trail in a small nature reserve near the grocery store I often go to today.
It had some nice scenery around a small river.

Due Finland having some legal restrictions for naming your child, every year you get this list of names that the offical "naming committee" has banned due them being:
1) likely to give offence 2) likely to cause harm 3) manifestly inappropriate as a forename
Also name that are written in "non-common way" can be denied. For example, this years list had name Väiinö, which is just a weird way of writing a very common name Väinö.
Anyhow. Quess who was this year's "No, you can not name your kid after video game character" representative xD
#honkai star rail#hsr boothil#Velociraptor as a name was also banned this year#But they were okay with Cruella????#yeah... the naming committee is weird#finnish stuff#and before someone asks#yes#foreing names are allowed if at least one of the parents has 'foreing background'#or you can proof that the name has been in your family before

Kyseessä on vuodesta 2019 asti järjestetty pelimaratoni, jossa kerätään rahaa hyväntekeväisyyteen. Tänä vuonna kohteena on Mieli Ry.
Tapahtuma alkoi jo keskiviikona, mutta streami jatkuu vuorokauden ympäri aina sunnuntaihin (11.5) asti. Oulussa majailevat voivat mennä katselemaan tilaisuutta paikan päälle Linnanmaan kampukselle OAMKin Co-work-tilaan.
Aikataulu löytyy täältä.

I just want the non-Finns to know that when Jere uses "good guy" to refer to both men and women, I am 100% certain it's because he's translating "hyvä tyyppi" into English, but the problem is that while Finnish is once again gender neutral here, English isn't. Gender neutral terms are generally difficult to translate into a more gendered language in a way that retains the same meaning and vibe.
#käärijä#finnish stuff#because I've seen people find it funny#and it is!#but it's not that he's calling women men by saying guys#there just isn't a better way to translate 'hyvä tyyppi' into English#'good guy' is the closest translation that is used in roughly the same way#English just isn't truly gender neutral here in the way Finnish is

Niinku, girl, tää on toksisin ukko minkä voit löytää 40-luvun Suomesta.

What's this about Finns & free buckets? I'm curious!
Ahh, free buckets....the greatest love of all Finns...
So, there is a meme about a phenomenon we have, and that is that sometimes places (like stores and such) will give out free buckets during their opening. I've seen some other places give out free buckets as well, but mostly it is stores that do that. Sometimes there is something in the bucket, most of the time it's just the bucket.
This is used as an insentive to get people to come in during the opening, but many times, people are there just for the free buckets. We also take queuing very seriously here, so there will be long lines just for the buckets. Sometimes they last for hours. I tried to google a bit about when did this whole thing start, and the earliest anyone knows was in 1989 when a store opened in Pirkkala. People really came in just for the free bucket, and the store had to change the campaing into if you buy something, you get a free bucket if you show the receipt. Apparently people started to then buy the cheapest things they could find, just so they could get the bucket.
This is still very much a thing, and because it is such a meme, I think it's very much intentional thing from the stores, because they know that if you mention free buckets, people will come. So now if there is a line or if some new place opens, the thing people will ask is "are there free buckets?"

I'm not kidding. Here's a line of 400 people waiting to get a free bucket.

Here's more!
Anyway, ilmainen ämpäri is love, ilmainen ämpäri is life <3

#no I do not what's wrong with us haha#but for real you always need another bucket#finnish stuff#suomitumppu
