Met Jason and his team @fireballtool today during @fabtechexpo. Told him how much I love and use his squares and after showing him this pic from this past Sunday, he told me that his Minion Squares were originally call gate squares. Locking C-Clamp Set  - Fireball Tool

These locking pliers from Strong Hand Tools area the perfect companion to our Fireball Squares. Sold in sets of 2 or 4. Aluminum (AL) Squares Swivel tip models are recommended for use with aluminum squares to avoid leaving marks when clamping down extra hard.   Cast Iron (FE) Squares Cast iron is harder, so swivel vs round tips are more of a user preference. The round tips tend to be a little easier to maneuver into place with their smaller footprint, but swivel tips are handy if you work with softer materials.

The newest addition to Three Rivers Forge is this wonderful little adjustable angle/square from Jason at Fireball Tool Company.  www.fireballtool.com I wasn't sure what to expect, but when I saw the video he put up, I knew I had to have one.  There are countless styles of “third hand” tools out there, and I’ve used just about every one of them at one time or another.  Jason’s design is unique, though, and very easy to assemble.  The best feature, aside from the fun you get putting it together, is that it’s easy to adjust and locks rock solid where you set it.

This is the “mini” version, and at 8″x1.5″ I think it’s just about the perfect size for most work.

As you can see in the photos, not only does it come very nicely packaged, but the laser cuts the steel very precisely.  When you assemble it, there’s no need for a lot of welding.  A few small tacks is all it takes to lock the pieces together.

Of course, I had to add some paint and chose “go fast” red.  I’m hoping that it helps get the projects done quicker!

As an added benefit, this kit makes a great project for the younger folks that are interested in learning.  It goes together very quickly and you don’t have to have a great amount of skill at welding or set-up to get a good finished product. ��Even a 5yo can help tighten clamps or spray some paint, so there’s really no excuse to not get the kids involved.  And, to be honest, these are some really nice “heirloom” tools that will last a kid for his entire life.  Imagine all the memories he’d have, building one of his own with his old man’s help and then going on to use them for decades!  

I can’t recommend this product highly enough.  If you’re looking for something new to add to your stable of tools, whether you’re a woodworker or metal guy, you should definitely put one of these at the top of your list!  If you know a Boy Scout looking to get his metalworking merit badge, this just might be the way to go.
