Even if I don't make the top five, it was super fun to try and come up with a concept that does justice to the breadth and creativity of the videos that Zed's put out this season. He's one of my favorite hermits for a reason! Thanks to Xisuma for coordinating such a fun way to incorporate the fans into this season, and good luck to all of the artists who entered!

He likes to take baths — he would love a bubble bath! (He doesn’t like showers, I wonder why!)

He sticks to military standards in terms of dress, cleanliness, body language, etc. With a couple exceptions: he doesn’t like to shave (doesn’t like looking himself in the mirror too long) and grows his facial hair out a bit. And he goes through a (mercifully short) phase of growing his head-hair out and braiding it.

He can imitate accents very well and picks up on slang easily, but he has trouble reading and writing. Even in his native language he is prone to misspelling or mispronouncing words.

If you’ve read Pact, I envision him similar to Blake Thorburn: handy, appreciates art but is not artistic himself, appearance sometimes scares other people even though he thinks he’s acting normal. Willing to go for long periods of time just eating oatmeal.

He has light brown skin, dark hair, dark eyes!

He has a bad habit of over-exercising and sometimes will faint after going to the gym

But he doesn’t lift weights cause he heard that stunts your growth and he still wants to get taller

His favorite type of movie is nature documentaries

He has type AB positive blood just like his mom

He has problems with his heart exacerbated by spending so much time in space. He doesn’t live long enough for it to become an issue but he can feel something is wrong. Give me a couple weeks to review the medical literature and I can diagnose him hehe

He also has crooked teeth and an overbite that is never fixed — he doesn’t like doctors or dentists. also like what dentist would be willing to maintain his braces. And he would hate the idea of being sedated and having some professional poke around in his mouth

I lost a lot of notes that didn't get saved from my phone because of the accident I was in and so it's going to be an even longer wait than I hoped until I'm finished with our ''Adventures of new Hallownest'' outline.

I'm thinking I might just post the whole list of titles and simple descriptions and then kind of turn it into an ask game? so basically anyone who is interested can just send the number of the episode/s that look most interesting to them, and I'll make a post for those individual ones and expand on them that way.

could be fun? idk. I just want to talk about these characters and our hcs and story ideas. we have quite a few (112 episodes to be exact lol) and I don't want to have to rewrite that whole master-post I was making. so yeah.

luckily chapter nine of ''ink of void, quill of gold'' wasn't completely lost, and I was able to rewrite what I did lose, so I'm hoping to get that next chapter posted soon. The fic will be complete with 10 chapters, and after that one's done, I'll get started on some other smaller fic ideas I've had for a while.

i’ve talked with other fans and we’ve agreed he’d experiment with different varieties of music since he never completely got the chance to do so before; he was too busy being the grim reaper.

now that he’s no longer bound to 1 role for the entirety of his life… he’d explore. and the different genres of music represents the newfound freedom he experiences, how he’s no longer bound to one responsibility for the rest of his life

but i think eventually, he’d become infatuated with romantic songs, like you said. it not only represents how he’s finally finding himself as himself (and not being controlled by others) but also. So, Discord has added a feature that lets other people "enhance" or "edit" your images with different AI apps. It looks like this:

Currently, you can't opt out from this at all. But here's few things you can do as a protest.

FOR SERVERS YOU ARE AN ADMIN IN

Go to Roles -> @/everyone roles -> Scroll all the way down to External Apps, and disable it. This won't delete the option, but it will make people receive a private message instead when they use it, protecting your users:

You should also make it a bannable offense to edit other user's images with AI. Here's how I worded it in my server, feel free to copypaste:

Do not modify other people's images with AI under ANY circumstances, such as with the Discord "enhancement" features, amidst others. This is a bannable offense.

COMPLAIN TO DISCORD

There's few ways to go around this. First, you can go to https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/requests/new , select Help and Support -> Feedback/New Feature Request, and write your message, as seen in the screenshot below.

For the message, here's some points you can bring up:

Concerns about harassment (such as people using this feature to bully others)

Concerns about privacy (concerns on how External Apps may break privacy or handle the data in the images, and how it may break some legislations, such as GDPR)

Concerns about how this may impact minors (these features could be used with pictures of irl minors shared in servers, for deeply nefarious purposes)

BE VERY CLEAR about "I will refuse to buy Nitro and will cancel my subscription if this feature remains as it is", since they only care about fucking money

Word them as you'd like, add onto them as you need. They sometimes filter messages that are copypasted templates, so finding ways to word them on your own is helpful.

ADDING: You WILL NEED to reply to the mail you receive afterwards for the message to get sent to an actual human! Otherwise it won't reach anyone

UNSUSCRIBE FROM NITRO

This is what they care about the most. Unsuscribe from Nitro. Tell them why you unsuscribed on the way out. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY. They're a company. They take actions for profit. If these actions do not get them profit, they will need to backtrack. Mass-unsuscribing from WOTC's DnD beyond forced them to back down with the OGL, this works.

Regardless of your stance on AI, I think we can agree that having no way for users to opt out of these pictures is deeply concerning, specially when Discord is often used to share selfies. It's also a good time to remember internet privacy and safety- Maybe don't post your photos in big open public servers, if you don't want to risk people doing edits or modifications of them with AI (or any other way). Once it's posted, it's out of your control.

Thinking about how Caleb sleeps facing the door. Always.

It doesn’t matter where you guys are, his place, your apartment, he subconsciously positions himself between you and the exit like a human shield. You used to complain about it when you were kids, not really understanding why you always had to wake up to the view of his broad back. You’d even shove at him when you were groggy and annoyed. Move over, Caleb. You take up too much space. And he would just grumble, shifting only enough to let you push your cold feet against his calves before settling again, always between you and the door.

And sometimes, in the middle of the night, when you wake up to the soft sound of his breathing, you wonder if he ever truly sleeps. His body is still, but there’s a tension in the way he lies, like even in unconsciousness, he’s braced for something. For a threat that’s not there. Like the moment he lets go, something will come to take you from him. Like safety is only real if he’s awake to guard it.

Now, you don’t complain. You don’t tell him to move. Because you know that he’s not just sleeping that way because he wants to. He’s sleeping that way because he has to. Because something deep in his bones won’t let him rest unless he knows, knows, that if anything were to happen, if someone were to come for you, he’d be the first thing they’d have to go through.
