An amazing series featuring the bike couriers of Toronto by Justin Morris. Especially loving the emphasis on weather - our national differentiator.
Check out the full set.

Rolled out with the #mondaynightrehab crew again this evening. I cut off early but I got this photo of me tailing @stevecarty before I did. As per usual, a great ride, albeit a quick one for me tonight. #Cycling #gopro #pov #argon18bike #vscocam #fixedgear #roadbike #fromwhereibike #outsideisfree #toronto #fixedTO #BikeTO #semorecc

THE PENGUIN
This was the very first bike I built, in 2011 after finally gathering parts from across Canada. It was fast and sleek and got me around Toronto for years. Over the course of time parts were replaced and upgraded, eventually resulting in my current ride.

Meet Michelle, a young woman who is tired of women's bikes!
After riding a heavy, rusted, clunky ladies' bike for the past few years, Michelle had enough of poorly balanced, slow and difficult riding. She was looking for something lighter and more powerful while not sacrificing the safety of larger wheels and the utility of her previous ride.
FRAME
Michelle needed a frame that would fit her smaller stature as well as help her survive Toronto's dangerous streets while still delivering the light and powerful punch lacking in a traditional woman's frame. After some sanding and repainting to protect against rust, Michelle's black Bianchi Ocelot will serve her well as it was originally a hybrid with more powerful and balanced geometry than a cruiser.
DRIVETRAIN
A new crank set with small 46/18 gear ratio allows Michelle to zip around the city with ease while tackling hills without difficulty. A chain tensioner keeps the sturdy 1/8th inch track chain tight and responsive.  WHEELS
A set of 26" Mavic wheels with Specialized Stout hubs have been paired with smooth tires to provide a wider, safer and comfier ride for Michelle. Originally mountain biking wheels, these sturdy stump-jumpers are almost impervious to anything Michelle can do to them. Brand new brake pads, cables and housing will allow her to stop quickly and safely.
INTERFACE
To balance longer rides with city riding, Michelle got drop bars for the multiple hand positions and braking system. The light cork bartape complements her wooden rack and ensures her ride will be comfortable as well as head-turning. A brand new brown leather saddle is not only insanely stylish but also light and comfortable enough to make an enormous impact on her ride.
ACCESSORIES
Keeping the ability to load her books, bag or milk carton full of goodies was important to Michelle, so we hooked her up with a beautiful cedar wooden rack. The cedar completes the classic look of the bike while also making it smell amazing! A water bottle holder ensures that Michelle will keep hydrated on the road.
Michelle had a budget of $610 tax included, before an additional $40 trade in bonus for her old cruiser.

In the freezing month of October 2012, three friends set out on their first fixed gear tour, spanning nearly six hundred kilometres across Ontario from Sudbury to Toronto.
With twenty-five pounds strapped to their backs, they completed the trip in five days, documenting the process using helmet cameras and deciding to "throw something together" when they got back.
This is that film. And while it's arguably "thrown together," we think you'll enjoy it.
