Epithet: The Verdigris Surgeon

Nicknames: "Sabethes" by Professor Malachite.... I'm forgetting every other one Quilliam is a general surgeon and avid naturalist/hobbyist/researcher who is fascinated by the inner and outer workings of humans, animals, and monsters alike, and hopes to learn how to treat all of them to the best of his medical ability. He was also quite afraid of death once, and tried to fix that. It didn't really work. Don't worry about the screams that come from dark alleyways near his apartment sometimes, or the rumors on his block about a "giant insect" roaming around that parents use to warn their children not to stay out too late. Preposterous stuff.

Miss Tanya Sabethes (she/her)

Epithet: The Precocious Fledgling

Nicknames: "Käferchen" by Quilliam Tanya is Quilliam's 11 year old biological niece who traveled to the Neath by herself after her parents passed. Quilliam's first impression of her was when she showed up at his door with her late mother's sword pointed directly at his neck. Even now, she always carries the rapier around with her. Tanya's proficient in ballet, is taking operatic voice lessons, and is learning the art of fencing and general swordplay. She's very rough and tumble and she's still learning English, but she will curse people out in whatever language reaches her tongue first.

Sir Lyon Leona LeFouet (she/her)

Epithet: The Expiatory Executant

Nicknames: "Kitty" by a privileged few

Leona runs the Death's Kiss Circus in Mrs. Plenty's carnival and employs primarily Tomb Colonists and anyone considered inhuman to give them a chance at the spotlight. There are also a lot of performative deaths by the Tomb Colonists, so as you can imagine she has a lot of normal and chill feelings about death. She's a massive, hardy woman who loves a good sparring match and flirting violently with whoever she's trying to best. She's never seen without her bandages on. Is it a fashion statement? Is she a Tomb Colonist? The outside world may never know. Legally she's a married woman but let's not focus on that right now she has kissing to do.

Tanya (The Precocious Fledgling) is an 11 year old with an incredible fighting spirit who is as graceful as she is sharp. I figured this parabola outfit would reflect that; she can dance AND fight. Oh, and. You know. Moths :) This is for @neathyfashioncoalition's "Parabola Elegance" prompt! :)

Quilliam: He would make himself a nice cottage near a jungle and use LOTS of green blocks. Also there’s a secret basement lab for fun.

Leona: She took over a Woodland mansion and made it cooler.

Tanya: Her Minecraft house would probably be built into the side of a mountain somewhere hidden away. There’s a PvP arena further into the mountain.

Quilliam: It would probably be a doctor’s office attached to a home. It would have pinned bugs all over the walls and all sorts of animals waltzing about the place. And sometimes there’s the smell of raw meat.

Tanya: I think she should have a fun club house that houses many weapons and also many snacks. Probably on a roof somewhere. Dw about it. Safe for kids.

Leona: I’ve been trying to decide on this for ages…. I still don’t entirely know what her housing situation is but I like to think for now that it’s a small abode just across the way from the circus… can see the lights all the time. Nice big bed with a big canopy. A lot of railings on the walls. A dressing room with every outfit a ringmaster needs.

outer space: could they survive in a sci-fi setting? thrive, even?

Quilliam: He’s like a tardigrade: he can be cute and cuddly and green in all conditions including the empty void of space. If he were shot into space I think he’d be interested in extraterrestrial medicine still. So much exciting new anatomy to learn about and biology to study and he’d do it with the enthusiasm of a thousand suns.

Tanya: I’ve been ruminating on this for like 2 days now but honestly I think she has the resilience and chutzpah to make it in space. I imagine her being good at figuring out Space Weapons. Also she might be a bit disoriented by zero gravity at first and her inability to make it bend to her will will make her grumpy but eventually she’d use it as a leverage in fights.

Leona: If she were shot into space she would turn to bounty hunting among more scandalous things: She’d want to rack up money to get a ship so she has more options and doesn’t have to rely on the “kindnesses” of more powerful people. And of course she’d band together a ragtag space pirate crew.

Mr. Mantis or Mr. Bugs for Quilliam. He’d reign over the appreciation and preservation of bugs in the Neath.

Tanya would be Mr. Swords, and she would reign over the making and usage of weapons, and probably would have her own fighting ring.

Leona would be Mr. Coffins and would reign over and manage death ceremonies.

🎩 — What would an Exceptional Story featuring this character be about? AW MAN..... There's a lot of rlly good options... the one that's coming to my head rn is like. Little girl shows up at your doorstep asking if you're her uncle. You're not. But surely you can help her find her way...!!! While you're constantly being held at sword-point!!!!!! Eventually she lets her sword down a little bit... but it's clear she's been through a lot to get here, and maybe you'll hear a little about it.

General Appearance: Quilliam is 40 years old (?) as of this year and he's 6'2"!!! THERE IS A REASON HE IS CALLED THE VERDIGRIS SURGEON. HES SO GREEN. HE LOVES GREEN. He has a signature green coat and everyone knows him as that weird surgeon who only ever bedazzles himself with green. I think he has generally good posture but depending on who he's talking to/ how anxious he is he might try and make himself look smaller subconsciously. Depending on the person his strides can be really big or small, he likes accommodating. Tanya Sabethes, The Precocious Fledgling:

Tanya is 11 years old (turning 12 this year!!!) and she's about 4'11". Her main color is a lavender purple (with some green!!!) and she always carries around this rapier with a silver hilt that she dOES USE. SO WATCH OUT????? She almost always has her hair down except for when she's sparring. She also always looks a little bit annoyed and is probably judging you. Her posture is perfect especially since she does ballet. Leona is [redacted] years old and is in the range of 6'5-6'7" tall (huh??? dw about it) and her signature color is orange. She's a fat, muscular woman who has the strength of ten bulls and the will of one hundred. Her posture is confident and her strides are large, so people often have a hard time keeping up with her. She doesn't often yield for others (except for those who have a harder time walking). Her strength and gait often set a different expectation of her personality compared to her usually warm demeanor.
