Do you think Annie is still alive at this point in the story? I just had a bad feeling that she's been killed off screen like Ymir. To access the Coordinate ability, in theory, Eren needs to be in contact with a Reiss in Titan Form. Historia getting the Female Titan ability (and Marley info) from Annie seems to be a neat solution to that. It will also avoid the conflict of Historia going mad like her half sister as a Titan since she's not getting the memories and will of the king.
This was sent at the time chapter 102 came out, which implied a possibility that the Warhammer Titan could be eaten by Eren, but he couldn't do it in chapter 103, which could possibly mean several things:
1) Annie is still stuck in the crystal because the Eldians within the walls haven't figured out how to break it. Eren couldn't bite through it (which in hindsight is kind of a dumb thing to try to do considering it is a crystal like Annie's, but hey, worth a try, right? They're kind of desparate right now and need to remove as many enemies from the playing field as possible/take the Titans out of action.)
2) Annie's crystal was weaker than the Warhammer Titan's and she has been eaten either by Armin or Eren. This, however, seems like a waste considering Eren already has the hardening ability and Armin having it wouldn't be as useful as having another shifter on their side. But Armin eating her could be a possibility here.
3) Alternatively, as you say, Eren actually did spill the beans and Historia agreed with being turned into a shifter. They then could've gotten rid of the walls entirely during the 4-year timeskip with the help of Eren's ability, but this doesn't align with several plot elements.
Firstly, as far as we know, they don't have anymore serums, so nothing to turn Historia into a Titan with. They could develop it, considering Rod had a bunch of them and the interior has been established to have much better technology that was withheld from the general population (the regular one Levi got and Rod's own serum could've been made from Frieda's/Uri's etc spinal fluid, but I am reminded of the detail on the bottle Eren consumed to be a reference to the Armoured ability/the different abilities being written on the bottles, so I get the feeling the Reiss family might've actually gotten the serums from Willy's family/from connections within Marley. The Tyburs have the armoured ability as a speciality and connections within Marley's high ranks and could be making sure the Eldians stay within the walls as a suitable target for freeing the Marleyan Eldians).
Secondly, the possibility of getting rid of the walls within the timeskip feels off because the Marleyans seem to have an idea of what is going on within the walls - they know the old monarchy was overthrown and who Levi and Mikasa are. I mean these are also safe assumptions to make/appropriate knowledge to have for them considering Zeke's, Pieck's and BRA's time within the walls and the battle in Shiganshina, but you'd think they have some insight into what's going on on the island.
It seems like a given they might know whether such a huge thing as the walls being gone happened. Add to that it would be some pretty strange plotting to have all of this major stuff happen within a timeskip. AoT doesn't do stuff like that with such major plot points. Ymir is the closest, but the framing around her already indicated she might be dead for a while. The story itself has been acting like the Titans within the walls are still there and a huge threat. Eren also left the walls at some point.
It is entirely a possibility that Historia was turned into a Titan in the end and the walls are gone - maybe Marley really does only have just that limited insight on what is going on on the island. Maybe they really could get their hands on more serums and maybe they really could break the crystal with Eren's hardening ability/the technology that was locked away from them or she could be digested as a crystal? Maybe it all happened before Eren left?
It's possible, but there are so many variables and so much reaching plot-wise here depending how you look at it. Especially the possibility of Historia becoming a shifter. Eren or Armin eating Annie is a much more likely possibility, but I hope neither are true because it would be very awkward plotting to me - a bad storytelling decision considering how long Annie has been gone. I feel like she's basically had nothing conclusive with her character and very little elaboration for *70* chapters. Killing her would seriously be bad writing to me, even if we do get a flashback.
Thank you for the ask!
