Part 1 of Stormclan's Folly allegiances! There are some cats (all the leaders, Birdflight and co, a couple others) that I have already drawn previously, so they won't be here. These names are certainly... something... Um anyways first up is WIndclan! We got deputy Pebblenose and his totally completely platonic 'friend' Thrushcall, med cat Goldenleaf, then Huntheart, a warrior. Ripplegrass is the mother of Galestar and Crowflight, and Squirrelbrush is Galestar's mentor. I know red is kinda traditional with the Squirrel- prefix, but I kinda wanted to base her off of a fox squirrel so I did. After them is Icefoot and Crowflight herself, then Mudsplash and Berryfall, then Peaktail and Harewhisker. After is Flash, I like that there's an implied backstory with his name being just one word, and Spotnose. After is Petalstep and her apprentice Harepaw, and then finally elders Gustwhisker and Dustflower. I like the idea of Gustwhisker being Galestar's father, but of course it isn't confirmed, so I tried to toe the line between making him look related and also not related to her. After them all is Riverclan, who only had two new cats so I just stuck them in here. Deputy Floatweed and med cat Shineflower.

Me looking @ all the new names in the StormClan's Folly Allegiances: this would NOT fly in the Redux (Huntheart, Roughpelt, Floatweed)
I will say that I love that Tinyclaw is a massive molly. That's good stuff.

i've been toying with the idea that the reason why a lot of the new names in stormclan's folly seem strange or out of place is because the ancient clans are still transitioning from old tribe-era naming systems to the more modern naming systems that we know of today.
thrush's call → thrushcall → thrushsong
raven's cry → ravencry → ravensong
hunting heart → huntheart → ____pounce or ____leap?
floating weed → floatweed → floatstem, floatbranch, etc
either way, i really hope that as the main series continues, we see suffixes like -call and -cry make a comeback to diversify bird names. i feel like we have an abundance of -wings, -flights, and -feathers. i also like the idea of -screech being introduced (ex: owlscreeh, crowscreech)
i also have a headcanon as to why cats like crowflight, alderbranch, and icefoot seem to have strange names in this era for their pelt descriptions. with the deforestation in skyclan's territory, the species of crows (brown in coloration) were driven out. i also like to think that alder trees with very dark bark existed in parts of all the clans' territory, but were predominantly based in skyclan's territory. also, i think that icefoot has white paws or some kind of prominent lower-body white coloration. i myself have an OC named frostfoot (a black tuxedo she-cat with ice-blue eyes)
→ as a side note, i am very excited that names i've used for OCs in the past (crowflight and mudsplash) have made their way into the main warriors series. i've been dying to see mudsplash in particular being used as a name since forever
Those are very good theories! And I also share your hopes about diversifying the names and those suffixes coming back.
I’m glad you got some OC names in there! Mudsplash is a particularly cute name so it is great to see that in canon

i know it's been a meme name for years but now with Floatweed being an official warrior cat name in the SCF allegiances...
Smokeweed is officially a fully legal, could happen in canon, name

Could you tell us more about Kentucky's wizarding communities or history?
– In 1961, a Kentucky-born self-proclaimed "experimental Herbologist" named Thylamus Opeam successfully crossbred mundane marijuana with the magical herb Buoyantis. The result was a magical drug that produced a powerful high in the most literal way possible. When dried and smoked, this plant, nicknamed "Floatweed" by users, creates a high similar to its mother plant marijuana, but also allows the user to hover inches from the ground. However, it was banned by MACUSA after learning of its ill effects. It is as addictive as nicotine, and after only the fourth use, the buoyant effects linger, only increasing with each use.– Snallygasters are not uncommon in Kentucky.– Many of the dryads in the Ilvermorny Forest were moved from Kentucky along with their trees. However, most of the dryads from Kentucky woods stay in Kentucky woods - so loggers beware!– A lot of quality wandwood also comes from these forests. Thanks for asking!~Prefect Selwyn
