Question About My Program https://ift.tt/2EtX7Ep
So I've either been an athlete or had some sort of fitness in my life for as long as i can remember . For the past ~3 years its been casual power lifting, really just basing my workouts around SBD plus some accessories . Recently however (about 5 months ago) I started the 5x5 stronglift program, i should include that before this program my 1 rm for squat was 277lbs . If you aren't aware of the program its essentially this: high volume low frequency program, start at about 45% of your 1 rm squat, workout 3 times a week, each workout you squat(5x5) plus other stuff, and each workout you add 5 lbs to your weight . So this program very gradually builds you squat, as you can imagine in the beginning its quite boring, however towards the end its rather brutal (in a good way ). I am now at month 5, maybe 6 and am squatting 290 for 5x5, wooo big pr's! My muscular strength is progressing at a steady weight however my issue is my hip flexer tendons, after each workout their fairly sore and by the time my next workout comes around my muscles may have recovered but my hips might still be a little sore . I stretch 4 times a week and every now and then when im watching TV or something .
My question is this, is this normal ? How sore are your hip flexers after a big squat workout normally ? Most importantly, roughly how much slower do hip flexer tendons progress/strengthen than muscles ?
This is definitely the heaviest i've ever been squatting in my life and the most frequently i've been squatting, i just don't know what to do about my hips, i eat as much as i can and work out MWF . Any help/feedback is much appreciated!
TL;DR How much slower do tendons strengthen compared to muscles, my tendons seem to be bottle-necking my program, is there anything i can do to speed up their recovery time ?
