This is a screenshot from Reddit and we wanted to respond because it’s full of harmful misinformation and reductive views on what “mixed origins” means. We're tired of seeing stuff like this.

First: mixed origins does not mean “non-traumagenic.” It means a system has multiple contributing origins which can include trauma, stress, intentional creation, spiritual frameworks, neurodivergence, and more. The key word is mixed.

It’s also not an “endogenic term.” Lots of systems with trauma histories use it. Many systems like us don’t fit neatly into one origin label which is why we use it.

Not every plural experience is linked to PTSD or C-PTSD. Not every system falls under DID or OSDD. And not every system is fake just because you don’t understand them.

You’re allowed to not relate to mixed origin systems. You’re allowed to not understand us. But you are not allowed to erase real people’s identities to protect your comfort.

We’re not confused, we’re not faking, and we’re not alone.

Initial drawings of that old man… I literally, I haven’t finished reading the book of bill yet!!! Vee's design is based on a rosy maple moth, and Glisten's is based on a malachite butterfly!

Saw a post today that said “endos do not interact,” so I won’t reblog it. I won’t send asks. I won’t comment.

But I will speak my truth, because it matters.

It’s painful, seeing strangers spit vitriol like that and think it’s justice. They assume that pain is the only measure of true plurality. That if we are not suffering in the way they understand, we must be faking. That joy, or peace, or intention disqualifies us from being real.

Non-disordered systems are not people who “want a disorder.” We are not confused or cruel for existing. We are not acting out some mockery of suffering. Plurality is not inherently a symptom. It can be that but it is not only that. It is not always that.

Some of us are plural and disordered. Some of us are plural and not.

For those of us who came to be on purpose, or who have always been this way: we are not lesser for it. We do not owe proof of pain to earn a place in the community. We do not need to suffer to be allowed to exist.

You don’t have to understand us. But we’re not going away just because we don’t fit someone else’s script.
