Fever
Blame it on the fever, but Legend accepts some comfort from someone he never thought he would.
For a sprint prompt on the Linked Universe Discord server: Soft Warriors!
Warriors and Legend are actually tied for my favourite Links, so I knew I wanted this to be something with them, but this ended up being Legend POV because I feel I write him better. Oops.
Legend and Warriors have one of my favourite dynamics in the comic, and I love exploring their bickering sibling relationship. Wars really is the best older brother of all time, I think.
Here's an excerpt!
If anyone were to talk to Legend right now, he would probably snap at them.
Even while he pretended to be asleep, he could see through his squinted eyes that a few of the others were looking at him with smiles that were either teasing or affectionate, maybe both. A part of him wanted to lash out and scream, tell all of them to stop being so sappy with him before he broke someone’s nose, but a bigger part of him just wanted to stay where he was and continue to pretend to be asleep, and that was the part that won out.
He would never admit to anyone that he was enjoying this, though.

Weekly Pond Newsletter
For those in the US, today is Mother's Day. If you are a mother to anyone to anything, whether human, furry, scaly, or otherwise, we hope you have a great day without any yellow-eyed demons!
Tumblr media
Old Business:
The Winchesters was officially cancelled by the CW, but Jensen has put out the call for the fandom to fight to give it a new home! Be sure to show your support by using the hashtag #SaveTheWinchesters on all of your social media posts, as well as watching the show on HBO Max. In news semi-unrelated to SPN, Walker: Independence was also cancelled, as well as Kung Fu (written by Bobo Berens from SPN), while Walker was renewed for a 13-episode season. No news, yet, about Gotham Knights. Although the Pond stays firmly in the SPN universe, we support our favorite SPN folks and their new endeavors!
We had two sessions of Competitive Writing Sprints and lots of writers won fabulous prizes while adding words to their WIPs! The next set will probably in a couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for announcements with dates and times!
Last week's #TweetFicTues prompt (via @writerswritecompany) was:
Tumblr media
"This one gives me post-apocalyptic AU feels, for some reason." - Admin Michelle
New Business:
Jason Manns & Hayden Lee will livestream their show at The Heist via Stageit on Friday at 5:20PM Eastern US time. Jason Manns is best known to SPN fans as the singer/songwriter whose song, Vision, plays in the Impala during episode 4.01. (You know, the song that makes Dean rip out the iPod dock Sam had installed.) Click here for more info and to buy a ticket!
Manta Ray in the discord server! A few hours after Jason & Hayden's show, @katbratsupernaturalwhore will be hanging out in the discord server for an hour. Come join her and talk about whatever's on your mind!
Fishing for Treasures weekend is next weekend! This month, we're focusing on ships, especially rare pairs. Submit links to the blog, or drop a link in the #fishing-for-treasures channel in the discord server and we'll reblog your fics next weekend. Deadline to submit is Friday night at midnight, Eastern US time!
Know of a bang or writing challenge that you think we should signal boost? Send us an ASK or send a message to one of our admins and we'll do it!
Tumblr media
(Divider by @glygriffe!)
That's all for this week! To see all Pond events, and also other SPN-related things like conventions and online concerts, check out our Google calendar! We try to keep it as up to date as possible. If there's something you want to see on the calendar that's not there (maybe a convention we missed, or cast birthdays, or something similar), send us an ASK and let us know!
Hope you have a great week! - From your Admins and Manta Rays, @manawhaat, @mrswhozeewhatsis, @mariekoukie6661, @princessmisery666, @thoughtslikeaminefield, and @katbratsupernaturalwhore!

The Ides of Drarry: Signups open!
Tumblr media
Hey everyone! It’s Spooky 👻 and I’m here to talk about the next Game of Drarry game/fest 🎲 THE IDES OF DRARRY.
>>> THE IDES OF DRARRY SIGNUPS >>> ASK THE MODS
MAR 1        SIGNUPS OPEN MAR 15     GAMEPLAY BEGINS MAY 15      GAMEPLAY ENDS / SIGNUPS CLOSE
(Game/fest art by @aceveria-art)
WHAT IS A GAME/FEST?
If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of the game/fest, basically, we take inspiration from popular board games and turn them into prompt-based fests using email, google forms, discord, and a public platform for posting of the writer’s choice.
Once a player signs up, the mods use digital dice rolls to move them around on a fancy game board that is in google sheets. Each spot on the board has a specific prompt with its own unique parameters and when a player lands there, they get assigned the prompt via email. There’s no time limit to fill the prompt except the end of the game, so a player can take a day, a week, or even the entire length of the game to create for it. But once it’s filled, they head over to google forms and turn in the link to it and the mods roll the dice for them again for a new prompt.
GUIDELINES
The one hard and fast rule is obvious: IT MUST BE DRARRY. Writers may include other background pairings and characters, even OT3, but Draco + Harry must be the main focus.
All ratings are welcome, however, submissions absolutely must be tagged appropriately wherever they are posted.
To reiterate, there are no time limits in Game of Drarry events. Writers may move at their own pace with no pressure to submit. The game does, however, end on May 15, 2020, which is the last day to receive a new prompt. All prompts will be needed by May 25 to be counted for points.
THE IDES OF DRARRY
Each game/fest has its own unique and eccentric details that are taken from the game it’s based on. The Ides of Drarry is based on the Game of Life and while most of this game/fest functions like previous iterations like Drarropoly and Drarryland, the Ides of Drarry has a new, exciting, and challenging addition that we are super excited about!
The Ides of Drarry will have (2) player path options at signups just as the Game of Life has the Career and College paths.
THE REGULAR PLAYER PATH
This path is basically the same as all previous game/fests. Players sign up and receive a prompt to be filled and turned in. Prompts will be based on actual Game of Life spots like Ski Trips, Art Auctions, Wedding Receptions, and even Babies! Each prompt is its own unique thing, and while it can be part of another universe, series, or work, it exists on its own. All subsequent or previous prompts filled by the player do not have to be related to or dependent on that prompt. Each one is a new creation, a new facet of the pairing that we love!
THE PATH OF THE LONGFIC PLAYER
This path is a bit different, but it is what it sounds like! Players who take this path signup with their favourite time period (Eighth Year, Post-War, etc.), themes, and tropes and the random roll of the dice decides their longfic story for them based off of their answers. Each turn will dictate certain details or aspects that the player must include in the next section/chapter that they write.
Whereas a Regular Player would receive the prompt
Drarry +  first flat. Choose either 1) living together -OR- 2) not living together -AND- either 1) terrible roommates or neighbours -OR- 2) terrible day-to-day habits
...the Longfic Player would receive
Establish Drarry’s living arrangements and include details such as roommates, neighbours, pets, pests, scenery, and other domestic features.
Longfic players can either post their chapters or sections publicly as they go and receive points immediately, or share their progress via Google Docs with the mods in order to receive a new turn. Players who choose the latter will only receive points upon completion and public posting of their fic.
Regular Players will have unique word count parameters for each individual prompt, but they will fit into the distinct levels of The Scale. Longfic players will be able to simply use The Scale for each of their chapters/sections as far as points are concerned.
THE SCALE
KNUT LEVEL 300-900 words = 3 points
SICKLE LEVEL 1250-2800 words = 5 points
GALLEON LEVEL 3500-5000 words = 8 points
Both types of players will receive PAYDAYS and DRARRY tiles.
Whenever a player passes or lands on a PAYDAY they will receive a bonus prompt for not only themselves but their assigned team. Anyone and everyone on that team can fill the prompt at any time during the game once it’s posted to their team spreadsheet and discord channel. The PAYDAY prompts will be worded for both Regular Players and Longfic players or be available in two different forms.
Example: Drarry + a carnival visit.
So while a Regular Player waits for a new prompt or finds inspiration in a Bonus Prompt, a Longfic player can store that prompt in their head and use it for a later chapter/section in their story. It gives the Longfic player the ability to plan ahead towards something even though their normal turns are random and unknown to them until assigned!
DRARRY tiles are similar to LIFE tiles. When a player lands on a spot that has a DRARRY tile, they receive a detail like Harry does wandless magic or Draco wears a tailored robe. Any type of player, Regular or Longfic, may use any amount of these details once they’ve been assigned to them for +1 points each. The returning form will ask if a player used one on their completed turn.
A BIT OF FRIENDLY COMPETITION
While the Game of Life is about individual players moving forward on the board, earning money, and experiencing life events on the way to retirement, The Ides of Drarry, just like every other Game of Drarry game/fest, is about celebrating fandom. And fandom is about community.
When a player signs up, the mods assign them a team. Because the Game of Life is centred around money, the theme of The Ides of Drarry is Gringotts! So the game/fest team mascots will be creatures of protection! (Hint: The First Team Activity will be choosing a mascot!)
Every completed prompt earns points for the player’s team. There are opportunities for extra points through the completion of bonus prompts, team activities, and community comments.
Additionally, players have access to the Game of Drarry Discord server where they may chat with other players, lounge around in their team’s private channel, do word sprints, find betas to scream at, and have chat access with the mods.
POSTING SUBMISSIONS
Players may post completed prompts on their chosen public platform. They will be prompted to submit the link when returning for a new turn. Players are encouraged to add their works to the Ides of Drarry AO3 collection, which is self-posting! The link will be available when the game/fest begins.
TL;DR — This is a lot to keep track of….
It seems like it is, but the mods have a lovely set of spreadsheets and keep track of it all.
Once you sign up, the email you receive will have all the information you’ll need, including a link to the more detailed player’s handbook and the discord server!
And that’s really all you need to know!
Whether you play once or fifty times, we can’t wait to see your creative work!

2020 Guidelines
So, what's allowed here?
The easy answer to that is: pretty much anything! We're open to slash, het, and gen, no matter your pairing preference. If you want to write Steve/Tony or Charles/Erik, that's awesome, and if you've got a great idea for an epic Natasha/Pepper or Emma/Scott, that's perfectly acceptable as well. You can base your story off of any medium - so whether you’re a diehard comic fan, into cartoons, or someone who loves the movies, you can participate! The only thing explicitly not allowed is pedophilia for the sake of pedophilia - if it's a plot point, it's okay, but we're not going to post stories that have sexual situations involving children (for our purposes, anyone under the age of 16). If you have a question about your pairing or specific idea, leave a note in the page-a-mod post, and we'll discuss it with you on a case-by-case basis.
Stories and art have to be new. If you've written something that's 10k already, awesome! That's a huge accomplishment, and we're really happy for you. However, this is a chance to create something new, so if your story has been posted elsewhere, it doesn't qualify for this challenge.
Sequels to stories you've written are acceptable! If you write a sequel, be sure to link back to the original story, so people can read that as well.
What about crossovers, fusions, and AUs?
The only requirement for this bang is that the primary focus of your story be on a character from the Marvel Universe. If you want to write Wolverine in Ancient Rome or Spiderman as a new member of the Hawaii Five-0 task force, you are more than welcome to. However, if you want to write a crossover that focuses on Harry Potter being a new member of the Avengers, this is not the place for it. The focus must be on a Marvel character. Crossovers with other comics fandoms are allowed, but the focus has to be on the Marvel character.
What are the requirements for fic?
Your story has to be at least 10,000 words, and there's no maximum limit. You can work with a co-author or a group, if you're more comfortable; the word count will be 10k no matter how many authors work on it.
You'll also need a beta reader for your story. If you have your own, that's awesome! If not, we'll be having channels on our Marvel Bang Discord Server devoted to helping people find betas. This is non-negotiable. You have to have a beta reader. If you want to have more than one person beta read your story, that's fine, too. One is a minimum, not a maximum. :)
What if I've already posted part of a fic? Can I finish it for this challenge?
The purpose of this bang is to unveil a completed piece on your posting date, however we are okay with you finishing your piece as long as you have not posted more than 2000 words of it and don't post any more until your posting date. Since this bang has a minimum word count of 10,000 words we are asking that no more than 2000 words be posted prior to signing up so that at least 80% of the fic is new.
Please note that the 2000 word limit still holds no matter how long your fic is - even if you complete a 100k epic, you can only submit it for this fest if you've published less than 2000 words of it before signing up for this challenge.
What counts as art?
Lots of things! Traditional art, digital art, manips, and fanmixes (with 8 songs and cover art) are all fine. Vids are also an acceptable form of art. If you want to check that what you have in mind is appropriate, or leave a note in the page-a- mod post. We'll discuss it on a case-by-case basis.
I'm interested, but I'm not sure what to write.
There will be a prompt thread on the Marvel Bang Discord server. Anyone can leave a prompt, and anyone can take a prompt. If six authors choose to write from the same prompt, that's totally fine. If someone wants to mash three prompts together, that's also fine. If someone wants to use half of a prompt, that's fine. Sensing a trend yet? :)
Where can I post my story?
The stories must be posted on AO3 and linked into the 2020 Marvel BB Collection. There will be a link provided and instructions for how to post to AO3 when it is closer to posting time. If you do not have an AO3 account, it is simple to get one. Here is the link: AO3 Invite. There's a queue, but it usually takes no more than a week to get your account. If you don't have an account, it'd be a good idea to get one as soon as you can. Lastly, don't post your story - or even parts of it - before the challenge goes live.
Will every story have art?
As it stands, we are aiming for every author that wants art to be matched with an artist. Some people want to sign up as a solo participant and don't want to work with an author/artist and other people want to work with a specific author/artist.
What if too many artists sign up for the amount of stories written?/What if I want to create for more than one story?
If we have five authors sign up with ten artists, well, stories will be double-claimed. Authors are also allowed to claim multiple stories. We'll work this out to the absolute best of our abilities :)
Can I sign up as an author and an artist?
If you want to, more power to you!
Can I sign up to write more than one story?
Sure! You can sign-up to write up to two different stories for this challenge. If you do want to write two stories make sure to sign-up separately for both. If you have to drop one or both make sure to tell us before rough drafts are due so that you don't leave an artist hanging. If you have to drop either story after you have turned in the rough draft you will be banned from next year's challenge.
Can I sign up with a co-author?
You can work with a co-author or a group, if you're more comfortable. But remember the word count will still be 10k no matter how many authors work on it. Just make sure to sign up all authors on the sign up sheet and have everyone join the comm. The limit of two stories per author still stands even if all the stories are co-written.
What if I can't finish my story in time?
That's fine! We understand that sometimes the muses won't cooperate or life gets too hectic. You are free to drop out of the challenge with no penalty any time before you turn in your rough draft, just let us know. You are also welcome to participate as a solo author and not submit your stories for an artist claim. That way if you finish it you can post and if not there will be no penalty. However, if you have to drop out after an artist has claimed your story, you will be banned from participating in next year's bang. We don't want to leave any artists hanging if we can help it.
What is a solo author/artist?
A solo author/artist is someone who want the structure of a fanwork challenge without having to work with someone else to create an accompanying fanwork. By working alone you don't have to worry about whether you complete your project or not because you won't have a partner depending on you. You can also decide to do your own art or find your own partner to work with. Basically we won't be matching you with an artist or an author, but you can still have a fic with art if you arrange it yourself. You can also work on other kinds of projects like podfic if you desire.
Do I have to join LJ/DW/Discord/Tumblr to participate?
The short answer is no. You don't have to join any particular social media platform, except for AO3, in order to participate. However if you want to keep up with bang updates and take part in the more social aspect of this challenge you will want to follow us on the platform of your choice. Discord in particular is where we will be having our prompt post, beta finding help, writing support, word sprints, etc. so you may want to join up there.
I still have questions! Where can I ask them?
There's a Page-A-Mod post here. Just leave a comment there and a mod will get back to you.

Splish Splash
Vio was looking forward to relaxing at the hot springs. It turns out that his ever chaotic group of friends might make that more difficult than he expected.
For a sprint prompt on the Linked Universe Discord server. Bathing!
So... This is not actually Linked Universe, but I thought the idea of these five going to a hot spring and annoying each other was fun. Shadow is a total gremlin and I love him dearly.
Here's an excerpt!
Vio was trying very hard to focus on his book.
It had been Green’s idea to visit the nearby hot spring, and none of them could argue that a chance to relax in a hot bath sounded extremely tempting. Green had raved about how this hot spring had good reviews and Zelda had even been there a few times before and loved it, and so the group found themselves booking a night’s stay at the hot springs.
And Vio couldn’t complain about the amenities available. The resort was even nicer than he could have imagined, and he couldn’t help but smile to himself when he heard one of the staff boasting to another guest that they had even hosted Princess Zelda herself for a night. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was attentive. The whole experience really did feel quite luxurious, and he thought back to how Green had mentioned the only reason they could really afford to stay in a place like this was because Zelda got them a discount.
The hot spring itself was just as nice as the rest of the resort, and by some stroke of luck, it seemed like not a lot of people were using it that night. Vio was glad to have the chance for some peace and quiet, looking forward to relaxing and leaning back in a warm bath with a nice book, something he rarely got to do with such rambunctious companions.
And he should have assumed that tonight would be the same. In hindsight, he felt a little stupid for assuming that the others would allow him a moment of peace just because they were on a vacation. He cursed himself for getting his hopes up.
