-sunnys pins on her bag are the colors of the other dod

-flame carved a stone knife for qibli and then they ran it through turtles wooden bowl a bunch of times so that everyone was liek. well equipped idfk

-dragons that had animus magic have a stronger immune system against fragariapathosis; it develops noticeably slower in them

-of the initially infected/'patient zeroes,' kinkajou and anemone are the only immune dragons

-liana and mango r dating.. bc i said so

-kinkajou makes bracelets for moon while recovering in the infirmary for when she "gets better"

-the nightwings in renewal are living in anarchy rite neow. its going pretty good for them tbh theyre kinda chilling i guess

-the sandwing kingdom is NOT doing as well as renewal is. around a third of the dragons think that thorn is unfit to rule and onyx has siezed the scorpion den and taken leadership of the rebels; theyre calling themselves the 'serpentcoil rebellion' and onyx has a sick crown with an onyx rattlesnake on it,, shes letting dragons from any tribe join her little rebellion but obviously they have to like. swear loyalty and shit. its pretty crazy yall

-the chaos in the ice kingdom has pretty much settled down. the ~20-25% of the icewings that WERENT asymptomatic have pretty much died out and since asymptomatic dragons are 'immune,' they're actually doing pretty good!! snowfall has taken advantage of her tribe's immunity to send healers to the sky, rainforest, and sand kingdoms. renewal is currently rejecting icewing aid

-literally nobody knows whats up with the mudwings. anyone who goes into that kingdom does not come out

-i alr said this in another post but ruby (who has crazy military strength) wrote to coral like 'yo dawg. send seawings to pantala and let them know about the situation' so she sent shark moray and some other dragons and now that theyre in pantala queen jewel and the silkwing assembly were like 'you guys cant go back for now btw. or else you guys might get sick' so theyre just there for now (coral is getting antsy..)

Could you talk about your infection au? I'm invested in it and I've been thinking about it all day

YES HULLO !! i dont want to spoil anything too much and im also working on a field guide sort of thing for the different stages of infection so im gonna try not to talk about those rite neow BUT im so glad that people r enjoying it! so id been seeing these scary mlp infection things ALLL over my tik tok feed for weeks and i was like .. yanno .. itd be really silly if i made this wof .. so i spent like 3 days mulling over what i could make the infection actually BE and i almost made it like the icewing plague but like it went scary but i didnt really know how to keep going with that so then i came up with a super smart idea which turned into this😋i dont wanna say where it started yet cuz ermm lore stuff but i will say that liek in the story the infection doesnt officially have a name yet so everyones just calling it like. the sickness at jade mountain. most of the infected originated IN jade mountain with the first symptoms being noticed in moon and turtle respectively, and then with the icewing students. i cant tell you guys how they got sick bc again . lore ..... but i think that its like kinda possible to find out. but i dunno. vulture and fierceteeth are also sick. there is ONE singular factor that unites these 4 + icewings, which miight b the reason WHY they got sick.kinkajou technically SHOULD be sick but she isnt for another reason that i cant say but if you really look into wof lore then i think u can figure it out idk. the infections transmitted via saliva/blood transmission, so mainly bites. tail barbs of infected sandwings are capable of spreading the sickness. there are 4 stages (5 if you count death) and it takes around 3 to 3.5 weeks for all stages to finish,, by ep3 the sickness has been around for ~2.5 weeks. the only KNOWN cure is amputation of wherever the infected area is,, so MUCH easier in early stages, unfortunate if its on an inconvenient spot, and impossible after hives start spreading. obvi flame had to be important bc i heart flame and i was like .. wait .. hes a healer in canon ...... so that worked out perfectly !! ik that in canon liana is like one of glorys MANY bodyguards but idc shes a healer here bc ermm i said so . also liana and mango r dating but i dont think that its relevant to the plot theyre just girlfriends in my head . as of right now kinkajou and peril are the only known immune dragons, with kinkajou for reasons currently unknown and peril bc . yknow . shes on fire . glory is in close contact with ruby and both kingdoms have taken measures to notify their kingdoms; the rainforest is under a sort of lockdown with rainwings on constant patrol/lookout for outsiders entering, they accept anyone who isnt infected to stay there for refuge while the skywing kingdom is in basically total lockdown other than ruby's messengers. ruby and glory also exchange their respective kingdoms medical knowledge, with the skywings having very good technology and rainwings having an expansive knowledge on medical herbs. nobody has heard from coral- the last thing she did was call for anemone's return back to the kingdom, and once she arrived, they all went underwater and have since then cut all outside contact. the mudwings are aware of the sickness but have so far done nothing about it; moorhen has warned her subjects but thats really it. i havent really decided what the sandwings or the icewings are up to but let me tell you guys its looking really rough for the icewings . so far it looks as though royal icewings are more resilient- tundras currently sick, but the sickness seems to be progressing much slower. this was initially believed to be because of the cold, but then other icewings started getting sick, and so its believed to just be a royal thing- likely something in their genetics. icicle is also sick but shes in stage 4 .. pray for my girl guys. lynx is helping snowfall out the best she can, but with the population getting increasingly sick seemingly spontaneously, its extremely difficult and stressful. the talons have quarantined sanctuary too. ok im outta characters but ya ty 4 the support!!

Is there a meaning that the infection is named Fragariapathosis? Or did it just come from the mlp infection aus?

hihi !! if you break down the word fragariapathosis you get the prefix, fragaria (the genus that strawberries fall under), and the suffix, pathosis (meaning 'a diseased state'). in ep 5 flame takes note on how the red hives combined with the white cysts resembled strawberry seeds, and later, qibli dubs the sickness as fragariapathosis. this also ties into how darkstalker is related bc .. liek ... the strawberry ....

Why did Boa (Jerboa III) decide to kill herself, waa there a reason / motive behind it or was it done so she simply couldn't be infected?

it's because she already was infected (as darkstalker directly enchanted her in book 9) and wanted to stop the spread of the virus as soon as she could! she has that liek.. magic scroll that answers all her questions so obviously she was asking it about how she got sick + other stuff about it (as well as the cure) and then she wrote it all down on a piece of paper and killed herself because she didnt want to endure the othee stages of infection. ty for the ask :)

gang i think im going to scrap the whole moray + shark going to pantala thing bc ermm . literally there r no pantala dragons in the graphic novels yet and those r what i use for the characters cards + it just overcomplicates everything so erm yeah . thinking ab making episode 10 on what the seawings and skywings r doing, im just going to kind of pretend that pantala doesnt exist for convenience's sake

For your infected au, the infected attack healthy dragons because they’re hungry, right? Or is it a drive to spread the infection? Would two infected ever attack / fight each other?

It’s so cool btw! I find myself drawing little doodles for your au in my math notes lol

its kind of both! the virus causes their hunger to dramatically spike even though their body physically cannot maintain food so its 100% hunger driven but theres also a sort of desire to spread the infection once the dragon is in stages 3-4 :)

i dont really think that two infected dragons would really go after one another tho

question about your infection au!! it's probably not possible, but if an infected were to recover mentally enough to communicate, would they do so? and how would they do it? i had an idea that they either communicate through ragged writing, or some form of Morse code through clicking of the tendrils (though to be honest with you i'd have a feeling they'd just beg to be put out of their misery)

im kind of delirious rn bc i just woke up from One of Those Naps (tm) so i might not he understanding this correctly but if you mean like after being cured then like they would end up with lots of scarring but overall would return to 'normal' (like their body's immune system would be able to fight off and kill anything the infection left in their body, including the tendrils that were growing in their lungs) (+ also the tendrils arent visible until stage 4, in which they are already incurable soo,,) BUT hypothetically like if that werent the case + the dragon maintained the tendrils somehow id think that like theyd come up with like some kind of sign language but the morse code is a really cool concept too!! id imagine that mute dragons already exist in wof canon so like there has to be SOME kind of sign language but idk. ty for the ask😋

I didn't notice it before since I just finished Moon's graphic novel yesterday, but I just realised the creepy unnamed stage 4 dragon is Vulture bc they have the same earring!! He was enchanted a lot by Darkstalker so that might be why he is so much further along than Moon and Turtle. Also just wanted to say that im really enjoying fragariapathosis so far and I'm excited to see what happens next!! I'm wondering, since it takes place after arc 3, are there any pantalan dragons on pyrrhia? And is Sunny/Tsunami communicating to them at all? Thanks :33

hullo im super glad u like the au!! there are pantalan dragons on pyrrhia but idrk what to do with them ... i have to like refresh my memory lowk cuz i forgot everything that happened in arc 3 but like whatever happened in canon basically is pretty much the same for this au😋tsunami isnt really communicating with anyone outside of jma bc shes busy surviving and sunny really only writes to like,, glory and fatespeaker. the dragons in pantala have been made aware of the situation via a seawing troop that was sent there and have been advised to stay away from pyrrhia for now

Would two infected dragons hunt together or are their brains compromised by the infection, just like how certain bugs are affected by mind-altering molds? +I think it's molds. Idk)

i actually haven't thought about this before! i think that if two infected dragons were very close (best friends, lovers, siblings, etc) then there would be some underlying instinct that would cause them to sort of stick together but for the most part their brains are 100% compromised and i think that the majority would sort of hunt alone :)

Could a dragon carry the infection for a day or two without symptoms? If so, and if I recall, it can spread through saliva. Does that mean a dragon carrying the infection without the symptoms can spread it by licking another dragon? (Licking is how I imagine dragons' way of kissing) or if they play fight and the other one bites too hard? Because it could create an interesting timeline or story for this au.

yes, they could! the days in flame and liana's field guide are only rough estimates and symptoms definitely aren't always immediate.

licking would cause infection only if it entered the dragon's bloodstream/into the dragon's mouth (i havent extensively studied illnesses + have only like .. glanced over articles so im not a pro at this stuff) and accidentally breaking skin via biting 100% would spread the virus.

now that almost all living icewings are 'immune' asymptomatic carriers (+ they've obviously been made aware of it) they are definitely taking a lot of precautions but yanno.. accidents happen

I had a question… once the infection advances to stage 4 what if the infected dragons are still conscious but have no control over their own body? Like how cordyceps fungi work

hi hi hullo !! by that point the infected isn't really physically in control of their body anymore, its sort of acting by itself from outside stimulus and sort of attacks anything it sees. it depends on the dragon but some are still mentally 'trapped' inside their head enough to the point where they can form conscious thought, even if none of it makes sense (weeks of malnutrition and lack of sleep will do that to a guy tho), while others are kind of an empty husk mentally. im working on a field guide sort of thingy so im hoping that once its done itll explain the disease + its stages better! :)

How are the other Seawings at JMA in your fragiapathosis AU? Aside from Pike and Turtle

-anemone has been pulled out of jma by coral and is currently under close supervision in the deep palace

-snail is currently healthy and helps sunny divvy up food rations among the healthy

-barracuda is also healthy and as one of corals strongest soldiers during the war is extremely helpful in dealing with the infected

-webs is fucking gone. nobody knows where he is and he is presumed dead

so, 2 guesses as to what the "red plant" is

-a strawberry, which would be VERY ironic given it being it's also the disease's namesake

-the breath of evil; I guess this only because the breath of evil has red markings, with its leaves being mostly red. I feel like this would make the most sense going by a "fighting fire with fire" logic.

Other than that, what's Pantala doin' throughout all this? Are Phyrrian dragons still going there and have informed them, or have they cut contact suddenly and will the pantalan mains show up to check in on what all's happening?

hullo!! to answer ur last question, ruby kind of liek threatened coral to send a troop of seawings over to pantala to warn them of the situation or else (cuz like. lets be so real. seawings could get to pantala far easier tgan any other tribes,, ig the skywings could but ruby wants to keep her subjects safe in her kingdom) and since ruby has like crazy military power coral was like "ok ok fine" so she sent shark and moray and some other seawings and when they got there they were like "yo. btw theres a crazy virus in pyrrhia lol..." and gave them a copy of flame and lianas fun little field guide and they were obviously like "dawg!! do not go back there!!!!! we will keep you safe here trust!!" so yeah a handful of very friendly seawings in pantala rn. i havent like fully thought this out like its just bits and pieces floating in my mind rn so its,, messy but corals gonna get sus at ruby over them not coming back at some point and that is all that i am saying for neow

So, according to the information within your infection au so far:

At the end of Jerboa III’s letter in Part 6 of the au, Jerboa III wrote that “the virus DOES have a cure for all dragons that have not reached stage four of the infection” yet, which is probably or possibly a “red plant that can be found in large abundances in the-” [unidentified area.] And within Part 5 of the au, Moonwatcher mentions that “the cure lies where- where enchanted whispers slip..!”

Correct..?

Btw also want you to know that I love this au and it’s one of the most interesting horror AUs that scares and invests me the most out of all wof AUs and horror content I’ve read. Have a good day/night! :)

yup! i will say that moon was kind of .. off her rocker .. but her prophecy does hold some kind of truth! i feel like i should mention that animus magic is not the only source from where enchanted (more-so cursed tbh) whispering takes place :) im glad you enjoy the au!! ty for the support😋😋
