a dervish of blonde hair and sticky fingers bolted through the commons, ignoring charlie's calls to - well, nothing actually, because she was too busy taking a mirror pic for instagram to notice one of the twins had sprinted away. in fairness to her, she had told her mother she had no interest in pretending to be a big sister. but claudia had wasted no time dumping tara in her arms and going who-knows-where. probably hunting for the next stepfather.

tara weaved through the crowd with the dexterity of a eighteen-wheeler until she abruptly collided with milo's leg. the ominous silence as she drew in that shaky breath was all too familiar with anyone who spent time around toddlers - it always preceded a cry, and one too loud to come from that tiny body exploded from her lungs as people turned to stare to see who was making that child cry.

"i don't know how i'm going to go on without you." and she would miss milo, she realized, the thrill of never having to explain herself, the easy patter of their banter, the way he sometimes made her feel stupid (which she well may be) but never horrible. "it's a little late for a christmas miracle, but i love your optimism," she crooned.

Honestly, he wouldn't expect anyone to take the heat off of the rest of them, especially not Charlie. The idea was pretty laughable to him. He grinned and shook his head. "I guess one of us has to get out of here unscathed." Not that he was assuming that meant he wasn't going to. Just… he did have about five more months of bullshit he got to look forward to. Milo chuckled and tilted his head. "No," he said, "how much? And how much will that change once I completely body you at shots in five minutes?"

I chose Asher and Baaabe~ if you didn’t know already, my Baaabe and Ash have known each other since they were teenagers. The boy was hopelessly down bad despite Baaabe’s initial disinterest at the time..just be patient, king, you’ll finally get your chance in about 8-9 years 🙏

it's  been  a  long  night  .  longer  than  he  had  expected  it  to  be  at  least  .  keys  fumble  in  the  doors  of  the  record  store  ,  closing  out  for  the  evening  .  around  him  ,  the  soft  glow  of  street  lamps  help  illuminate  the  otherwise  emptying  out  streets  as  other  businesses  host  their  final  calls  .  hands  shove  into  pockets  ,  feet  dragging  as  milo  makes  his  way  home  .  out  of  the  corner  of  his  eye  ,  a  familiar  figure  exits  one  of  the  galleries  .  his  pace  quickens  ,  trying  to  catch  up  .  “  hey  ,  ”  he  calls  out  ,  hand  waving  .  when  she  turns  around  ,  his  hand  lowers  &  everything  slows  down  .  it  wasn't  her  .  “  sorry  ,  wrong  person  .  ”  he  mumbles  ,  turning  around  ,  cheeks  flushed  — bumping  right  into  ,  “  holy  fuck  .  ”  crash  .  a  hand  moves  out  to  help  the  other  ,  “  wait  ,  teddy  ?  ”

Sometime early in the week at some bathroom or other [ @milonavarroo ]

Ollie wandered towards one of the shared bathrooms, deciding to pick some out of the way one that he could probably take his time in as he got ready for bed. Only to see an all too familiar figure approaching the same door as him. He grinned at Milo. "Sorry," he said in a teasing tone, putting his hand on the door and pushing it open. "I got here first." His eyes scanned across Milo, taking in the night bag and assuming he was here to do the same thing as him. While also maybe looking -- appreciatively. The two of them might not be anything anymore but that didn't mean he couldn't look. "I mean we can share if you want. Have a contest to see who takes a longer time to get ready for bed." It could be a toss up. His hair took a while to sort out, but Milo was pretty vain…

"it's more exciting that way. we can go stay in a hostel and really get the early-twenties gap year experience." people in charlie's circle were always cosplaying a different economic class, like poverty was a costume you could try on when it was fashionable. "germany is sounding better and better. except beer. beer is disgusting." why would you waste time with single-digit alcohol percentages? she hummed in contentment - it was so easy to lose herself in visions of a future where everything works out like a tv show from the 90s, where ogden was a distant memory and everything could be wrapped up as neatly as a 30-minute sitcom episode.

The same she'd done for him, absolutely nothing. That was what a balanced relationship looked like. "No, you know, funny enough they've actually outlawed tennis in Germany. milo gets to the bar at 8:26 pm , knowing he couldn't risk screwing up another thing in relation to teddy . so early arrival it was ! the whole day he was nervous , wondering if he would be able to get his act together enough to be kind & genuine with his childhood friend . he just couldn't help it . words of affirmation were not his thing . every compliment had to be sandwiched with something backhanded , no matter how hard he tried . it's not like he expected others to be nice in return . shallow at best , milo liked his relationships at surface level . waiting by the entrance , milo's head turned each time someone walked in , only slightly disappointed for it to not be teddy , until it was . “ hey , ” milo calls out , going over and giving her a side hug and immediately feeling awkward about it . overcompensating much ?
