With a backpack on his back and an Ethel Cain tote hanging from his shoulder, Lucky felt like something akin to a pack mule as he trekked to the firestation with Olie to make a donation to the Toys for Tots drive that was ongoing.

"You see that?" He says to his friend as they stroll, holding up his left hand to show her where a fresh scrape was healing on the back of it, "That was your shorthaired co-workers doing when she was in the vet's for a check-up. She caught me off guard."

'Enter if you dare...' was sprawled across a bright yellow post-it on her door; a Nerf gun left on her welcome mat for her best friend to pick up.

Kit? Well, she was hiding behind her couch, a Nerf gun in her own hands as she waited for the sound of her front door to open. It was then, that she would show no mercy.

At least, that was before she blurted out, "I had that weird dream again with the fish trying to eat my toes. What do you think it means?" Her voice came from behind the couch, giving away her location though she still remained locked-in and ready for offense if need be.

Feeling more burdened by guilt than overwhelmed by grief, she hesitates before turning the doorknob. It's not uncommon to seek solace in such circumstances, yet she questions if she's chosen the right confidant. Despite her reservations, she knows Oli would likely understand, even though the act of reaching out to him feels like a betrayal. She can't help but chuckle softly at the irony of worrying about betraying the dead, if indeed she could even consider it betrayal at all. Ironically, she realizes she must divert her thoughts from Aaron as she gently taps on the door before entering. Uncertainty clouds her mind once more. Does he desire company, especially hers? Yet here she stands in his room, her fingers nervously fidgeting, her attempt at a smile faltering. Her mind blanks momentarily. Why is she here? What does she expect from Oli? To bond over their shared grief? She takes a few tentative steps, clearing her throat. "Hey," she murmurs softly, almost inaudibly, loathing the lump forming in her throat. Nervously, she glances around the room, her fingers fiddling with the seam of her blouse before meeting Oli's gaze. "I just wanted to check on you, but if you'd rather be alone, I completely understand." She's taken aback by how effortlessly the words flow from her lips, how her voice remains steady, giving no hint of the turmoil within her.

such  gatherings  were  not  meant  for  olyvar  to  have  fun.  no,  there  were  much  more  important  activities  to  partake  in--like  purposely  bumping  into  lord  arryn  to  ensure  a  conversation  was  locked  firmly  in.  it  was  an  accident,  of  course.  certainly  not  at  all  something  he  had  planned  from  the  moment  he  saw  the  lord  moving.  and  when  the  elder  apologized,  olyvar  was  quick  to  dismiss.  “not  at  all,  lord  antony.  it  seems  i  was  enjoying  my  wine  far  too  much  to  see  where  my  own  feet  were  carrying  me.”  mostly  a  lie,  but  he  did  enjoy  the  wine  cupped  in  his  hand.  “perhaps  it  best  we  both  avoid  dancing  at  the  same  time.  but  i  do  hope  you  are  enjoying  yourself  at  the  least.”  a  cheeky  smile  followed  the  words.

lane had hit the ground running, but hadn't gotten much further than a few steps before the other voice reminded them that they'd brought a guest along. shit. some remnants of responsibility still resided within them, and they backtracked immediately, gesturing to oli to stand under a tree to hide from the deluge.

"sorry. i forgot." they laughed, but there was an uncharacteristic panic in their eyes. "so... we're in a forest. new mexico, i think. i am... an escapee. and that was dr. pender. she used to experiment on me, right there." they pointed, and in the moonlight that shone through the rain one could clearly see a building, three towers surrounding a dome. "let's get out of this, huh?" and lane turned away and began trotting towards the building, seeming unaware of the cold water that blew into their face.

　　"Which one? Why can't I sleep? That was really just me yap—" Lane paused so Oliver did too. They heard the foot steps too, but they knew they weren't their mom's shoes, especially not at this hour. Did time exist anymore? This would certainly interfere with the progress Oli had made in therapy. With a glimpse behind them at a ghastly pale woman, Oli grasped Lane's arm, and despite traveling through space and time, they were more stunned than scared.

　　Once they landed somewhere (seriously, where the fuck were they?), Oli had lots of questions. "Okay, what the fuck? Who was that lady? Where the fuck are we?"
