When you start seeing the final chapters of Beneath The Silk named after the nine stages of decay (a Buddhist meditational practice), you start running.
Beautiful art by Fuyuko Matsui.

Your main source of inspiration for art is reality rather than fiction, right? But I still wonder if there are artists out there who inspire you? I am especially curious about contemporary ones
of course! off the top of my head:
matsui fuyuko, minahamu, @asoi00, em nishizuka, kenji tsuruta, zinbei, svetlana tartakovska, marie laurencin, amrita shergil, isaac levitan, zinaida serebriakova, vilhelm hammershoi... i could go on and on, i feel like every day i discover a new artist who's doing things that fill me with determination to make my own stuff
i also have a "little museum" on my site that shuffles through paintings/works of art i like :-)
