I think I found it.
[A photo is posted of an old stone well in what looks to be a basement. Dark smears and handprints coat the sides of the large, heavy-looking stone disk serving as its lid. Rusted metal loops in the floor nearby suggest it may have been chained shut at one time - but it isn’t now.]
Basement of St. John the Deliverer’s
Initiate the secret histories.
In the first century of the time called the year of the Lord, a troop of Roman legionnaires driven south out of Egypt hear a voice from deep time and follow it down. Their temple forms the foundation from which the new religion will grow.
[Another photo is posted - this time of the interior of the well, illuminated by flashlight. A few meters down, the blue glow of Crowley’s drone, Oculus, is visible, casting their own light into the depths.
The bottom can’t be seen.
There is, however, a narrow stairway of slightly more exposed stone, barely wide enough for a single person to traverse, lining the interior of the well.]
Further back.
We see the Smiling Magus. The ripples of his influence extend even here! Stories are told of his great stores of wealth, but from where did that wealth originate? The secret is whispered miles deep.
Our wisdom flows so sweet. Taste and see.
TRANSMIT - initiate the Shahrazad codex - RECEIVE - initiate Gagool syntax - ALL THAT GLITTERS - initiate the First Kings translation - YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU - enter the Place of Death - WITNESS - King Solomon’s Mines.

They’re Baaaack: Meet the Creepy Dolls from the History Center of Olmsted County Collection
October 22, 2021

Grace Ebert
All images © History Center of Olmsted County
We’re sorry to introduce you to the cursed cast of the History Center of Olmsted County’s notorious Creepy Doll Contest: there’s the demonic “Miss Abyss” and her glowing portal-like eyes, the conniving criminal mastermind “Professor Moriarty” that will likely convince you to commit some unspeakable atrocity, and “Lizzie Bordon” that, like the infamous ax murderer herself, is sure to chop you to bits.
The center launched the project in 2019 as an innocuous way to explore its collection, although it’s since created an annual event of unleashing the horrors you see here. If you’re in Minnesota, you can attend the creepy doll cocktail party on October 23 (at your own risk, of course), and otherwise, cast your vote for the demonic character most likely to haunt your dreams on Instagram. King Solomon’s Mines H. Rider Haggard Karbon Kitaplar
“In the 1880s, three Englishmen ventured into unknown lands in South Africa in search of Neville Curtis, who had set out on a quest for King Solomon’s famous diamond mines. Led by Allan Quatermain, the group of adventurers must face multiple dangers before finding a lost country, that of the Kukuanas, led by the tyrant Twala and the witch Gagool. But who is the mysterious Umbopa who follows the expedition since the departure?”

Several years ago, after a frustrating argument with a friend about the all-white cast of “The Hobbit,” James had an impulse “to reclaim all the stuff I like—court intrigue, monsters, magic,” he told me. “I wanted black pageantry. I wanted just one novel where someone like me is in it, and I don’t have to look like I just walked out of H. P. Lovecraft, with a bone in my hair, and my lips are bigger than my eyes, and I’m saying some shit like ‘Oonga boonga boonga.’ Or else I’m some fucker named Gagool and I’m thwarting you as you get the diamonds.” Though James is well versed in the recent flourishing of speculative fiction from the African diaspora, he still sometimes talks about the Dark Star trilogy as though there were nothing comparable in the world—partly because when he first dreamed up the project, several years ago, it felt truly oppositional, and partly, perhaps, because he still has a tendency to see himself as an embattled rebel, even as the world has begun to celebrate him. He wanted to write a black fantasy novel that would succeed with a literary audience, too, the way that Susanna Clarke’s “Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell” had, in 2004, winning a Hugo and getting longlisted for the Booker. “So I did as Toni Morrison said, and I decided I would write the novel I wanted to read,” he told me.

My Sailor Dad
Robert McClean
4 January 2017
Tumblr media
My Dad was a sailor  He Ho      On Atlantis he sailed He Ho
He came from the North and never lost his course
And the Wellington winds still blow and the Wellington winds sill blow
At Leadgate town, my Dad was a bane
From Dunstan, he could see the Jarrow crane
He grew strong under, Durham’s Spire
St Aidan and Cuthbert, did inspire
His Dad built the mine, Grandfather in the Pit
Dad learnt the trade, with a sharpened drill bit
The World War came, and went
Dad enlisted for the Navy, but was never sent
Coal was too important, for a country in battle
So instead, Mac made his machine rattle
In 1950, Dad’s pay was getting thinner
The North was struggling, like a kahawai on a spinner
His emigrant ship, of British steel
Dad sailed from Southampton, with lots of zeal
With tales of work and fair Pacific land
On NZ he made his stand
He landed a job, at William Cable
Turning iron, Dad was very able
For a holiday, he went into the woods
Tramped Greenstone and Hollyford neighbourhood
But his first tramp, in Butterfly Creek
With a couple of clueless Kiwi girls, his situation was bleak
He met Mum, on Sat’ night
Together shared a taxi, and then Dad was alright
She had hitchhiked, around Aussie island
Dad was never again, lost or frightened
Dads No.1, was our Mum
Together they worked, and had lots of fun
They soon recruited, deck hands of 11
Plenty of boys, and girls that came from heaven
The boat he hauled up, Spenmoor Road
In Newlands Hills, where it once snowed
The southerlies drove, most men mad
But it was no problem, for a Georgie lad
They say in those, early days
Dad smoked a few packs, to chase kids away
Later he shifted to, sunny Plimmerton
Forever moored, among his wife’s kin
His old mate was, a man called Jack
Who at one point, sailed to Mars and back
Chased by Native Americans, into a cave
Jack never came back, from the grave
Singing was, Dad’s thing by far
He cut records, and was going to become a star
But he declined, American cash
So he could do the dishes, in a flash
His loud singing, attracted the local cop
Along the motorway, made him stop
Dad was ordered, to walk the line
The cop thought that Mac had, too much wine
Life on SS McClean, was good
The Captain kept, making turning wood
Awakened by porridge, in the morn
The kerosene heater, was like a ship at dawn
We started our chores, early in the day
Dishes and rosary, before being allowed to play
Dad would teach us, many things
Poems, Georgie songs, and Scottish Kings
At the ring of the bell, at night
Our Captain would return, under street light
With a Russian hat, traded at the Port
Fish from fishing boats, he helped to support
It was not all hard work, on Board
Our Master would show us, his old gun and sword
Around footfall fields and golf fairways
There was always an icecream, for me on a good day
Sunday was (ha), a day of rest
Painting the house, picking up Pat a guest
On a calm day, the sea would beckon
Heaving the boat out of the boatshed, in a second
The crew rowed, getting the Seagull going
Struggling with the oars, the wind rising blowing
Way out to Mana, or closer to the Reef
We never caught much, despite our firm belief
As family, we had fun and games
Making up a team, gaining local fame
Playing for Mana United, or College
Dad would coach, to increase our football knowledge
In the summer, camping we would go
Mangakotutukutu, with all our cargo
At Waghorn Lodge, we would stay
Dad would fix the Generator, with some delay
Under the star light, Dad would speak
Stories of Gagool, would make us freak
Dad’s favourite things, were chess and darts
Singing Blaydon Races, or making go-charts
Let’s not mention, our Black ‘n White Team
Newcastle winning the Premier, was always our dream
Sea Dogs, like a flutter
Dad sneaked off to the TBA, told us not to mutter
At the Station, our Master spied
1, 3 and 7 for the trifecta he tried
Those three numbers paid, every time
To watch the All Whites in Spain, in their prime
But this was not a life of, plain-sailing
Dad worked long hours, to keep the bills a-paying
Turning out parts, of boats
Harbour Board job, to keep the dock afloat
A police launch to fix, a tug to mend
On Lady Elizabeth time, he would spend
Then on weekends, digging drains with a pick
Fixing heaters at Viard, thank goodness his wasn’t often sick
To keep to the course, of life
Dad’s Charts were the Good Book, and his dear wife
Mass on Sundays, rosary at night
Austin’s faith is a beacon, like camplight
But Dad’s Charts were not, old and worn
His beliefs were like a shiny ship’s horn
Dad left his nets at Whitley Bay
Following the Lord, everyday
So Dad held his, rudder true
Guided by the Southern Cross, we would all pull through
With this song Dad I want to say, thank you
For all those years of support, and help as I grew
In my memory, you had great stature
Even if you did drive over my precious bug catcher
Your advice was sound, your guidance right
For me as a young lad, you had foresight
How to fix a car, or catch a possum
You were there to show me the way, you were awesome
When my old Morrie 1000 broke down, in the Valley
You came with tow rope, without counting the tally
You helped me concrete, up in Levin
Wallpapering, we built a bridge with Kevin
But most of all Dad, you are my best friend
My love and gratitude, you have until the very end
Mary, Star of the Sea
Watch over our Sailor Dad for me
