I Made a Gamescience Dice Color Wheel!

Colors included in this wheel:

Clear: Diamond

Red/pink: Ruby, Laser Red, Rubellite

Orange: Fire Garnet, Laser Orange, Sunstone

Yellow: Topaz, Amber, "Canary Yellow", Laser Yellow, Peridot

Green: "Forest Green", Emerald, Laser Green

Teal: Zircon, Aqua, Laser Blue

Blue: "Dark Sapphire", Blue Jasper, Sapphire, Blue Moonstone

Purple: Tanzanite, Amethyst

Gamescience Gem Rubellite

Gamescience Gem Rubellite is translucent light pink.

Gamescience Gem Rubellite dice

Rubellite was once part of Gamescience's main product lineup. It was discontinued and replaced by Laser Red, which is also sometimes called Rubellite even though the two colors are quite different.

Rubellite was produced in multiple shades of light pink. This was fairly common for Gamescience Gem colors. I own dice in three different shades.

Two shades of my Rubellite dice are UV reactive, while the third barely glows at all.

Gamescience Rubellite is harder to find than common colors like Diamond or Emerald, but not nearly as hard to find as limited edition sets like Coppered or Pyrope Garnet. So I would consider Rubellite to be somewhat rare, but not super, ultra, all caps RARE!!! like some sellers would have you believe.

For me as a collector, the biggest barrier to buying and collecting Gamescience dice is not rarity, but price and condition. I see Rubellite d6's and a d20 for sale right now, plus a ton of singles in other colors, but the asking prices are absurd, and many pieces are scuffed or have worn edges. I won't pay a premium for standard colors or dice that are damaged.

If they really want me to pay those high eBay prices, it would have to be a highly sought after, limited edition color with zero wear. Rubellite does not fall into that category, even in perfect condition.

Luckily for us all, Gamescience.com is up and running, and the owners want to begin producing new dice again. Wouldn't it be fantastic to have access to new, complete sets of Gamescience dice at retail prices?

I hope Gamescience will produce a new Rubellite set in the future. I would love to see a whole new lineup of pastels. Bring back Sunstone, Teal Zircon, and Aquamarine too!

To my knowledge, the only retailer currently selling Rubellite singles is The Dice Shop Online, but every piece I've purchased from them has been Laser Red, not light pink Rubellite.

Gamescience Gem Ruby Dice Set

Gamescience Gem Ruby is translucent true red.

Minor color variations are possible. Some pieces might appear lighter or clearer than others, or have a very slight orange cast.

Gamescience Ruby may, or may not, be UV reactive. My 7-piece set glows under a black light, but I have a few singles that don't glow.

Ruby has been part of Gamescience's color lineup since the 1980s. Second-hand sellers almost always list Ruby as being super rare, but compared to other Gamescience colors, it's actually one of the most common.
